To hope this racist woman loses her job

twitter.com/melodyMcooper/status/1264965252866641920?s=19. Was appalled to see this video on Twitter - a guy in Central park, NYC, who was birdwatching, politely asked a woman to put her dog on the lead as per the regulation in that part of the park. He started filming it as she got abusive and called the cops, to say that she (white) and her dog were being threatened by an African-American man and could they send the police (as we know this can often result in a shooting). All the while she was holding her dog up by dangling it from its collar, half strangling it. The man left and his sister put the video on Twitter, resulting in the racist dog strangler being identified very quickly... she has a high powered job with an insurance company. The animal shelter took back the dog, and her company says she is on 'administrative leave' hopefully meaning she will get fired. I was really shocked and dismayed that such open racism is still going on, even though she was being filmed! Surely she must lose her job at least, what company would want to be linked to something like this?

Do tell me when the marches, rallies, fundraisers, books and documentaries come out for people called Karen. I think the world is vastly more upset about people being shot than about people being called a name.

LipsyGirl · 26/05/2020 21:18

@VladmirsPoutine I’ll be very frank about this, I’m a white woman with mixed race children. I am in no way racist, I never will be. However since being with DH & my babies, it’s crazy how I feel I have to protect them that bit more. People are racists & they don’t even know it! That scares me! A good friend of mine referred to my baby as a darkie!!!!! Safe to say she’s not a friend anymore!

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 21:20

A lot of LaKieshas on this thread telling white women they're racist, while using a typical white woman's name to stereotype an entire race of women. Irony? Or just clueless hypocrites?

I don’t use the term ‘Karen’ as I’m not a black woman, but it seems if you’re called LaKiesha you’re 50% less likely to be called for an interview than if you’re called Emily. So I’m not sure you can compare prejudice suffered by a Karen to that suffered by a LaKiesha.

To half of the resumes, we randomly assigned white-sounding names such as Emily Walsh or Greg Baker. To the other half, we assigned African American–sounding names, such as Lakisha Washington or Jamal Jones. We responded to more than 1,300 employment ads in the sales, administrative support, clerical, and customer-services job categories—and found that white names received 50 percent more callbacks for interviews. Our evidence indicated that hiring managers were discriminating against African Americans on the basis of their names.

Cannot believe the number of apologists on this thread. YOU ARE ALL PART OF THE PROBLEM.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 26/05/2020 21:20

I can't remember the posters name but I've been thinking about that comment - that even if white women don't operate in that manner they always know that they can

I think that was me - I said something along those lines (can't remember exact comment as it's a long thread and can't find)
If was me I said something like it's a terrifying and hard thing to stomach, so maybe some find it too hard to look inside themselves?
II'd never ever dream of acting that way but I find it sickening that some do pull race like that.
This thread's an eye opener, and it makes me feel sick.

Buccanarab · 26/05/2020 21:23

@AKissAndASmile - what makes it even worse is the officer who is kneeling on him has also been involved in 3 shooting incidents, at least one fatal, over his career. I have just seen all four officers have been fired, which is good news, hopefully chargers will follow.

@VladmirsPoutine - apologies for not but I feel too many people are happy to just ignore reality and avoid anything that makes them face the true nature of racism in America.

AKissAndASmile · 26/05/2020 21:23

Cannot believe the number of apologists on this thread. YOU ARE ALL PART OF THE PROBLEM.
They know this though, and are trolling us.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 26/05/2020 21:23

People are racists & they don’t even know it! That scares me!

This,
Bigotry, in whatever shape or form, they don't know or refuse to acknowledge , or if it's pointed out or challenged in any way the amount of twisting that goes on is insane.
It's chilling

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 26/05/2020 21:24

Air these racists out is my view. Destroy their entire lives. You can't be a member of the KKK on weekends yet go and teach black kids on Monday holding the view that they are more incapable/unintelligent by virtue of being black. gtfoh.

Because I live in the U.K., a country that is mostly white, and it is impossible not to associate with white people, and white people are racist

How about we start with ‘trying to get a black man arrested or possibly even shot by the police for daring to ask me to follow a clearly signposted rule’ and go from there?*

You'd like to think so but the racists are thick

I think it is a superb way of dealing with things especially like this. If for nothing it alerts other would-be Karens that this shit is no longer being tolerated and they could get fired/destroy their whole lives if they happen to get the rage over a black person being happy within their vicinity. Of course I don't like these videos but with this evidence hopefully the tide will turn meaning black men no longer being convicted because a white woman cried and indeed Karens realising the jig is up

@VladmirsPoutine agreed absolutely! They need to be outed for who and what they are. Absolute vermin. She disgusts me. I can't even look at her again.

This is what Amy Cooper wanted to happen. This is a daily occurrence. This is white supremacy

Agreed, hence the use of African American man in the call.

She was still a racist piece of shit

She sure is and that's being kind

The way she puts on a trembly voice on the phone to fein fear is horrendous

Sickening isn't it, I wanted to slap the shit out of her.

She’s a disgusting waste of oxygen.Hope she does lose her job.She lied to 911, he was not threatening her.Love the way she turns up the hysterics when he’d done nothing to her. She was calm initially and then ramped it up. I’m not surprised he was filming her, he could probably guess what was coming. If there had been no film god knows what allegations she’d have made up.Even now people are like “ohhhh, I wonder what he did before”. When everything points to her being the irrational drama lama. Also why was she so quick to give the dog back to the rescue? I’d die for my dog. Could it be one of those things where the dog remains the legal property of the rescue so she knew she couldn’t fight it? I’d have fought tooth and nail. Which in my book she’s she’s not a nice person

Spot on. She's racist trash and I'm glad she on fact did lose her job and that the poor little dog is no longer with her. I hope this haunts her forever. Her bad intentions towards another have smacked that racist bitch in the face.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 26/05/2020 21:25

Oops bold fails and missed answers there. Damn no edit button!

AKissAndASmile · 26/05/2020 21:27

I have just seen all four officers have been fired, which is good news, hopefully chargers will

This is America so we know that won't happen.

MaxNormal · 26/05/2020 21:28

At least these four policemen have lost their jobs. I hope they go to jail.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 26/05/2020 21:30

The most chilling part of that video is that she says "I am going to call the police and tell them an African-American man is threatening my life". If someone is genuinely threatening your life you just say "I'm calling the police". And that poor, poor dog.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 26/05/2020 21:35

Air these racists out is my view. Destroy their entire lives. You can't be a member of the KKK on weekends yet go and teach black kids on Monday holding the view that they are more incapable/unintelligent by virtue of being black. gtfoh.

Totally agreed. Why should they be allowed to hide amongst decent people. I'd want to know if I was around one through work or whatever.

Because I live in the U.K., a country that is mostly white, and it is impossible not to associate with white people, and white people are racist

Hmm

How about we start with ‘trying to get a black man arrested or possibly even shot by the police for daring to ask me to follow a clearly signposted rule’ and go from there?

Agreed.
Some people just don't get it so they. Pathetic apologists.

He was filming her because he's well aware of how it can and does go. She wasn't scared of him at all. She ramped it up for the phone call, poor acting. She didn't just say I'm being threatened by a man oh no, not that she was, she had to make it clear to the 911 handier that it was a black man. She's a disgusting low life racist degenerate. As are those that agree with her. Thank fuck he was filming her, imagine the shit she'd make up if he wasn't!

I'm glad she lost her job and her dog (that she nearly killed) she deserved that at least. She thought she was special , white, female, well educated and in a very good job... let's see how special she thinks she is now.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 26/05/2020 21:36

Found it, was it this?
I was replying to someone else but we basically said the same thing

I feel some posters might be missing the point that although many (and I'd hope most) white woman wouldn't weaponise a black mans race in the way this woman did, the uncomfortable truth is that if we chose to we could

That's just it - it's hard to look inside yourself and I think it's too uncomfortable for some to do.I couldn't in a million years do what that woman did but it's scary to think I could. It's sick and it shouldn't happen

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 21:36

I don’t think firing goes far enough. Americans should have a guarantee those men will never serve in the police again, and one should be charged with murder and others charged with aiding murder / manslaughter.

NotAgainNo · 26/05/2020 21:36

I am going to call the police and tell them an African-American man is threatening my life

In other words, 'I'm going to tell Daddy on you and you know he'll believe me not you and you'll get the belt!'

memememoi · 26/05/2020 21:36

Being a white with mixed raced children does not absolve a person from being a racist.... infact I side eye anyone using their mixed children as their defence... it's just smelly.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 26/05/2020 21:36

Top bold being other poster, bottom paragraph me

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 21:39

@LemonadeAndDaisyChains Yup those are the comments I referred to. It's actually something I hadn't really thought about before so those comments are sitting with me. That even the most genuine of white allies could still in one small moment switch because she just knows she has the power to. It's a lot to get to grips with.

CorianderLord · 26/05/2020 21:39

I would have filmed it too if I was a black man afraid she was going to set me up to be shot

MaxNormal · 26/05/2020 21:42

There seems to be no social sanction for being racist beyond the workplace.

Just read the comments on an Independent article about IKEA in Germany who let their car park be used for socially distanced Eid prayers.

The comments... and most of them seemed to be men of a certain age. Not sure if its generational or simply as they dont have a job to lose.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 21:51

I can’t see the comments but the Indy does attract a twatty comments.

I like Cov-Eid!

LipsyGirl · 26/05/2020 21:56

@memememoi excuse me? I’m saying since I’ve been with my DH and having children I able to see the ugly truth. What you have just said is incredibly hurtful

MissBarbary · 26/05/2020 21:58

MorrisZapp

Those words to describe back people you listed are utterly vile. I've never called anybody any of those words in my life and if I heard someone else doing it I'd inform the police

The Karen slur is sexist. How weird to have a sexist slur that we can't complain about because complaining is what they hate us for. Win win for sexist twats

Yes Morris there is some spectacular sexism, hypocrisy and even racism on this thread, although the perpetrators are so high on their own virtue signalling they won't see it.
