To hope this racist woman loses her job

twitter.com/melodyMcooper/status/1264965252866641920?s=19. Was appalled to see this video on Twitter - a guy in Central park, NYC, who was birdwatching, politely asked a woman to put her dog on the lead as per the regulation in that part of the park. He started filming it as she got abusive and called the cops, to say that she (white) and her dog were being threatened by an African-American man and could they send the police (as we know this can often result in a shooting). All the while she was holding her dog up by dangling it from its collar, half strangling it. The man left and his sister put the video on Twitter, resulting in the racist dog strangler being identified very quickly... she has a high powered job with an insurance company. The animal shelter took back the dog, and her company says she is on 'administrative leave' hopefully meaning she will get fired. I was really shocked and dismayed that such open racism is still going on, even though she was being filmed! Surely she must lose her job at least, what company would want to be linked to something like this?

@SkinRash The incredible amount of back breaking you've been doing to justify racism. Like WE GET IT, you can relate to these racist people. Can you come up with something else?

Pixiefringe · 26/05/2020 21:01

A lot of LaKieshas on this thread telling white women they're racist, while using a typical white woman's name to stereotype an entire race of women. Irony? Or just clueless hypocrites?

Glowcat · 26/05/2020 21:02

That board member of the New York City Audubon Society (US equivalent of the RSPB)

LipsyGirl · 26/05/2020 21:02

Why anyone would defend or even try to understand her actions are beyond me.

The minute she called the police with her fair hyperventilating bullshit she knew what could happen and didn’t care, id go as far as to say she used his race against him.

She’s disgusting! I’m ashamed to be of the same race as her

SionnachRua · 26/05/2020 21:03

LaKieshas...Jesus Christ. You'll be talking about Oranjello and Lemonjello next.

I won't even waste my time explaining why the two things are not remotely comparable.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 21:03

There’s only one way I can really describe people objecting racists being caught in their rants on camera: butthurt (or is it butt hurt?)

myrtleWilson · 26/05/2020 21:04

Whoa @SkinRash really isn't trying to hide their racism are they? Evil, evil, evil

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 26/05/2020 21:04

The issue here is that this is not a dick meets dick situation like it would probably be in the UK.

This woman could've got him arrested, or even killed. And she knew exactly what she was doing when she threatened him with "I'm going to tell the cops there's an African American man threatening me".

That is inexcusable and as much as a threat as "I'm going to kill you right now".

Stripesgalore · 26/05/2020 21:05

That is a very nice statement from the bird society.

NotAgainNo · 26/05/2020 21:05

Sorry you feel your name's been thwarted, Karen but this isn't the first nor would it be the last. Have you also fought for the Negative Nancys or the Debbie Downers out there or has this one hit home because it's your name?

In other words is your problem because it's a misogynist issue or just because it's your name? Would you have had a problem if it was any other name? If so, when will you start fighting for Beckys and Nancys and Debbies? Date and time please.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 21:05

The Karen slur is sexist.

It has been co-opted by grumpy white men who hate all women. It was initially a way for us blacks to express a specific type of racism we experience from a certain type of white woman. The whites colonise everything, they even blackfish and use AAVE. So I really won't stop saying Karen.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 21:06

@Glowcat that’s a lovely statement of support.
Even the bird in that article has a WTF face.

Ratasha · 26/05/2020 21:07

@MorrisZapp

It has already been mentioned in the thread, but the way in which the black community in America, particularly its women, use 'Karen' it not the same as how certain white men use it. You still appear to be conflating the two usages.

strivingtosucceed · 26/05/2020 21:07

@Pixiefringe you really are a racist aren't you?

Gon on, tell us the general features of a lakiesha.

MorrisZapp · 26/05/2020 21:07

I've objected to 'mansplaining' fwiw, but I don't think the two are equal. More equal would be taking a normal, common first name used by a particular demographic (Brian, Chantelle, Elizabeth, Jose, Mohammed) and using it to mean something disgusting, with the caveat that complaining about it makes you even more of a .

Try harder luv

Pomegranatepompom · 26/05/2020 21:08

Thank you for sharing the link from the bird society. Wonder if the pp is still suspicious.

Ratasha · 26/05/2020 21:08

And all this Karen outrage from the website that popularized 'Wendy'...

RockLock · 26/05/2020 21:09

If only people would get as upset at a white woman trying to have a black man killed by cops as they do over the term Karen then the world would be a better place.

NotAgainNo · 26/05/2020 21:09

Oooh! You got them, you did! Did you have to google that name or was it your "big gun"? Can we go back to the point now?

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 21:10

Irony? Or just clueless hypocrites?

Neither. We just got the language for it and now also camera phones so keep your inner Karen lock in otherwise you too might find yourself trending on twitter then jobless within 24 hours. Sometimes it be like that hun! xxx

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/05/2020 21:11

She wasn’t scared. She was angry that she’d been pulled up on her poor behaviour by someone who wasn’t going to let her get away with it.

All she had to do was leash the dog and walk away and she knew that.

LipsyGirl · 26/05/2020 21:11

What is going on with Karen? If your offended by being called a “Karen” then don’t be a Karen Grin

Ratasha · 26/05/2020 21:12

I take it from context that LaKeisha means 'uppity black woman'?

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 21:14

@LipsyGirl EXACTLY! Like it really ain't that hard but someone pointed out upthread I can't remember the posters name but I've been thinking about that comment - that even if white women don't operate in that manner they always know that they can. That's the terrifying thing about white women being allies because they can instantaneously turn against you.
