To hope this racist woman loses her job

twitter.com/melodyMcooper/status/1264965252866641920?s=19. Was appalled to see this video on Twitter - a guy in Central park, NYC, who was birdwatching, politely asked a woman to put her dog on the lead as per the regulation in that part of the park. He started filming it as she got abusive and called the cops, to say that she (white) and her dog were being threatened by an African-American man and could they send the police (as we know this can often result in a shooting).All the while she was holding her dog up by dangling it from its collar, half strangling it. The man left and his sister put the video on Twitter, resulting in the racist dog strangler being identified very quickly... she has a high powered job with an insurance company. The animal shelter took back the dog, and her company says she is on 'administrative leave' hopefully meaning she will get fired. I was really shocked and dismayed that such open racism is still going on, even though she was being filmed! Surely she must lose her job at least, what company would want to be linked to something like this?

It's really obvious - this is a man bossing a woman about

So if a woman is breaking the local laws and damaging wildlife in a public open place he isn't allowed to ask her to stop? What is he supposed to do go and get a woman to do it for him? Or a white man?

Sorry but that is bollocks. She was squarely in the wrong, she flatly refused to comply, all she had to do was take the dog to another part of the same park.

In his place I'd also have video'd her deliberately causing damage to a wildlife area and refusing to to stop.

@NotTerfNorCis

Offers food to the dog. Films the woman when she gets upset and tells him to leave her alone. That is creepy and controlling.

But you’re saying she was faced with a ‘privileged Harvard’ man, @NotTerf. Surely she has no need to be scared of him?

NotTerfNorCis · 26/05/2020 19:52

Read his own words. He said if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it. He talked about her 'intransigence'. He wasn't scared, not at all.

NotTerfNorCis · 26/05/2020 19:53

But you’re saying she was faced with a ‘privileged Harvard’ man

The point is that he's an American version of our own privileged elite who feel like they're in command of the world.

Stripesgalore · 26/05/2020 19:54

Yes, of course it is fake. Large numbers of people do diversity courses and learn to say all the right things, but still hold racist attitudes. Then they crack in altercations.

You can see that in people’s general behaviour- the number of white people who live in multicultural areas while young but then move to white areas when they have young children to ensure their kids are educated in all white schools.

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 26/05/2020 19:54

She was fired

To hope this racist woman loses her job
zscaler · 26/05/2020 19:56

You are either ignorant beyond belief or deliberately pretending to be in order to advance your agenda if you think that being well-educated protects black men in America from racism.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 19:56

The point is that he's an American version of our own privileged elite who feel like they're in command of the world.

So elite that he referred to her as ‘Ma’am’?

zscaler · 26/05/2020 19:56

Good on her employer. Serious moral wrongs deserve serious consequences.

C8H10N4O2 · 26/05/2020 19:57

She was intransigent. She was determined to continue with damaging wildlife and fuck everyone else.

And no, people who let their bloody dogs loose in protected areas never do like it when someone attracts their dog away from causing damage and they don't like being filmed breaking the rules. He was right. She didn't like it.

But she was the one approaching him not the other way around and spinning this as her feeling threatened by him is just madness.

Stripesgalore · 26/05/2020 19:57

It is pretty obvious that when we make decisions about whether or not to confront rule breakers we take into account the vulnerability of the person we are confronting.

Most people are far more likely to confront a woman on her own than a group of men, because they take their own safety into account.

So there is an element of sex as well as race.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 19:57

@Dougalthesyrianhamster Thank god Wine !!!!

Pomegranatepompom · 26/05/2020 19:58

@zscaler excellent post.

SimonJT · 26/05/2020 19:58

@NotTerfNorCis You genuinely believe it’s possible for an American to be priviliged and black?

Great post well said
It's chilling how words can be framed to fit a narrative of victim and aggressor.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/05/2020 19:59

He tried to give food to her dog (could have been poison for all she knew).

She didn't seem that worried about the dog when she was strangling the fuck out of it.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 19:59

Most people are far more likely to confront a woman on her own than a group of men, because they take their own safety into account.

This is generally true but listen to his voice when she approaches him. This isn’t a cocky man fronting up to a woman. He sounds like a man trying to keep away from a woman who could get him jailed if her spin of the events wins.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/05/2020 20:00

You are either ignorant beyond belief or deliberately pretending to be in order to advance your agenda if you think that being well-educated protects black men in America from racism.

Exactly. Michelle Obama who is even more accomplished than Barrack was called a man or a monkey multiple times. LeBron James - one of the most talented basket ballers still had the n-word graffitied on his door. Even Beyonce's black children are pulled apart for the looks ; hair/nose etc. Honestly being black is a perilous endeavour.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 20:03

@Bike

And is there a single person on this thread (or anywhere) that has gone "wow, I never knew racism existed, but this video has shown it for me for the first time"? We all know racism exists.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Again, you don’t like these videos because they’re more powerful than a thousand articles.

Stripesgalore · 26/05/2020 20:05

Sharon’s, yes, which is why I think both sex and race come into play.

Would he have confronted a group of men about their dog? Maybe not.

Would she have called the police if her were white? Maybe not.

But I am the same. I have confronted a woman over her treatment of her child. If the child had been with a group of men I would not have directly confronted them.

Schoenes · 26/05/2020 20:05

She was fired. Well done. At least a bit of good news. For all the Karens polluting this thread. a) He did not threaten her b) She was not scared c) She threatened him - In baby steps for the slow mn Karens here 1) If one is afraid of a man as a woman one walks or runs away 2) One does not let a dog of a lead in a bird sanctuary 3) One does get aggressive and hyterical when asked to put the dog on a lead 4) One does not threaten the man with the police ........ She is a racist cunt. She deserves all and more.

PotholeParadise · 26/05/2020 20:05

NotTerfNotCis

She was an entitled dog owner who thought the world revolved around her pet because it was hers (but didn't actually give any fucks about its welfare really).

If you go out to any park where the rule is dogs-on-leads you'll see one or two. They don't apologise to white women asking them to put the dog on a lead either, but this American one thought she had an advantage over this man because he was black.

This is not a man-oppresses-woman thing. This is a nasty piece of work and her dog thing.

Glowcat · 26/05/2020 20:07

A man asked me to put my dog on a lead a few days ago. It’s not an area where dogs need to be on lead but she was bothering him I put her on lead and walked away. How on earth is someone asking you to put your dog on lead in an area where that’s the rule frightening or threatening? It’s an everyday interaction for a dog walker.

AKissAndASmile · 26/05/2020 20:08

I don’t understand what the value of social shaming is.
The value is that it gets attention and gets stuff done. Why do you think Bojo et al are hastily backtracking every day? Fuck off with your faux naiveté

Stripesgalore · 26/05/2020 20:08

I have never had anyone attempt to call my dog away from me and throw treats to entice it over. That is not a normal dog walking interaction.
