Thanks all. Fantastic. Go Yvette! She's always impressive.

tabulahrasa · 27/05/2020 16:58

@IntermittentParps

What has Yvette Cooper been saying?

lilgreen · 27/05/2020 16:58

I think Boris now needs to go as this just shows that his judgement is very poor. I can’t believe what I’m hearing.

MarshaBradyo · 27/05/2020 17:03

Ah she was good. Go Yvette.

One word for him - crumpled. Thoughts and his look.

Michelleoftheresistance · 27/05/2020 17:04

Bravo Yvette.

He's making himself look more and more stupid.

MashedPotatoBrainz · 27/05/2020 17:06

Yvette Cooper was spot on. He's ducking the answer because he can't answer it correctly and reconcile that with his position on what Cummings did. Pure do as we say not as we do.

lilgreen · 27/05/2020 17:16

I am so grateful for the press and ministers that keep pushing this. Keep going! The plebs will not be silenced!!Grin

Inoneminute · 27/05/2020 17:18

Which ministers would those be lilgreen? I know what you mean but ministers haven't been saying anything except it's time to move on (pleeeeease)

lilgreen · 27/05/2020 17:21

Sorry I meant MPs.

IntermittentParps · 27/05/2020 17:25

Thanks tabulahrasa!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 27/05/2020 17:27

God, he really is awful. Not a clue.

Julz1969 · 27/05/2020 17:51

It was all a load of B S, he was worried about driving with his son in the car because his eyesight was bad, so he drove with is son in the car to check it out! Plus it is also against the law to drive if your eyesight bad. So he broke the rules and the law.

Feedmecaffeine · 27/05/2020 18:24

It pisses me off no end, but there are also hundreds of the general public that have flouted the rules since lockdown, they just haven't been named and shamed. I've read countless posts on here about people travelling down to Cornwall for a break, and saying sod the rules so is it one rule for them and another for us. The majority of the British public have used their brains and stayed put, and the majority of the government have used their brains and stayed put. For those that haven't I think their a bunch of irresponsible selfish idiots, but some people think their above the law. He's not the first and he won't be the last.

But Cummings was the one (or at least part of the group) that set the rules.

That's the difference.

LaurieMarlow · 27/05/2020 18:28

Do people not understand the difference between Joe Bloggs breaking the rules and the person who wrote the rules breaking the rules?

FliesandPies · 27/05/2020 18:28

Even if that's true it's highly unlikely that those people were

  1. Part of the group responsible for drafting those rules
  2. Infectious with CV at the time they travelled
Jeeperscreepers69 · 27/05/2020 18:28

Jesus christ im so sick of hearing about this guy. I have enough on my plate with lockdown, work and looking after my family. People just need to get a life. Hes human. Im sure everyones broke lockdown at some point for gods sake. Time for people to get back to work and waiver the boredom.

caramac04 · 27/05/2020 18:33

My DH had a genuine issue with his vision. He didn’t drive for 3 weeks until it was, thankfully, sorted.
If you can’t see properly then you don’t bloody drive. Clearly he is a liar.

FliesandPies · 27/05/2020 18:37

Jeeperscreepers69 (note the lame name) People just need to get a life. Hes human. Im sure everyones broke lockdown at some point for gods sake.

If you're sick of hearing about him why the heck are you on a thread with his name in in the title? Plenty of other stuff to read on MN. Or watch TV? I'm not sick of hearing about him at the moment, in fact i'm fascinated and horrified and have to make a huge effort to tear my eyes away.

KisstheTeapot14 · 27/05/2020 18:55

Just registered my disgruntlement via

'They Work for You' website.

You can easily send an email to your MP through this.

Takes under 5 minutes.

Ranting on MN is satisfying but this will register more - if they have lots in the inbox.

Tell the government what you think.

Awful handling of Covid and this is just a slap in the face to all of us who have played by the rules and acted in the interests of families, wider community, the UK!

These rules were/are rules for a very good reason and no-one should feel they are entitled to act above them and blow the consequences.

glennamy · 27/05/2020 18:59

Faux outrage continues I see! PATHETIC point-scoring alive & well on MN!

JeSuisPoulet · 27/05/2020 19:02

Glen don't fret, there's a fair few CAPITAL LETTER POSTERS still out here too, willing to call people's personal experiences faux and PATHETIC.

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 19:10

Jeeper no they didn't. That's the point. Most followed it to the letter. Many had to cope alone with children and Covid. Some had to send their children to hospital alone and one family we know couldn't even attend their child's funeral.

And even if Joe Public broke the rules. They weren't the ones who instrumented them and insisted everyone MUST follow them and MUST stay at home. And plenty of Joe Publics got fined for breaking them. And the fines weren't equal either. There's was no equality in the dining. The same way there is no equality in what the government are doing right now.

Yet they spout "we are all in this together"

And now they've lost respect and know people will try and use the Cummings clause they are threatening to implement fines if necessary to force us to comply.

Not the diplomatic parliamentary system we are meant to have in this country.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 27/05/2020 19:11

It’s definitely not faux outrage, it’s quite real. We don’t appreciate being taken for mugs. Who drives the length of the country ‘just in case’ they need childcare? Who drives 60 miles to test their eye sight? That’s just an elaborate fairy story dreamed up to pacify the plebs. It hasn’t worked and DC & BJ are extremely annoyed we aren’t cow-towing and taking our masters word for it.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 27/05/2020 19:18

To those of you defending DC, do you really believe its acceptable to drive to test your eyesight? Also, do you actually really believe that's what he was doing? Not being goady. I'd really like to know
