I sleep with my 2ur old and my dh sleeps in a separate room for now I have heavy periods which means despite wearing maxi pads and tampons combined I’ll always have a heavy night. I leave changing the sheets till my period has finished. Is this skany or ok?

I wouldn't be able to leave it, could you not get those absorbant sheets you can get and then you wont have bloody sheets.

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 25/05/2020 20:38

Damned tricky to get the stains out.
Yes, it is swanky.
I used to sleep on a kiddies absorbent and waterproof bed mat with a towel over, whip off the towel in the morning, check and change the bed mat. Towel in the machine. Job done.

ShinyMe · 25/05/2020 20:38

If it's a dot or two, it's a bit grubby in my opinion, but understandable to leave. If it's wet, or large smears going through the sheet then I think that's pretty gross. But it's your bed, so my opinion hardly matters.

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 25/05/2020 20:38

Skanky!

HotSince82 · 25/05/2020 20:39

Skanky but thats ok Smile

pooopypants · 25/05/2020 20:39

I couldn't, I find it a bit grim. And the blood will set, then be a twat to get out.

Would sleeping on a towel help? Have you seen your GP about your heavy periods?

Cabinfever10 · 25/05/2020 20:39

That's a health hazard. Is your 2 year old in that bed?

SunbathingDragon · 25/05/2020 20:39

I have a couple of reusable bed pads that are the same as you have in hospital after you give birth. I sleep on those when needed and wash them in the morning.

PlanDeRaccordement · 25/05/2020 20:40

That’s not nice at all.
Just set an alarm and change your tampon/pad in the night.

FrostyGirl66 · 25/05/2020 20:40

Depends on how much. If it's just a drip then I'd probably leave it, but if it's a patch I'd change it. A bit mank leaving it tbh. You wouldn't lay on urine stained sheets for a week would you?

MoonBaby1 · 25/05/2020 20:40

Very interesting. I’m a skank clearly Grin

I’ve seen the Gp had a full lap and dye no endo just bad luck.

Dizzywizz · 25/05/2020 20:41

I used to sleep on a towel when I had my period (had coil for years now so no periods)

Justgorgeous · 25/05/2020 20:41

No, not acceptable in my opinion, just wash it and put it on again at least it’s sanitised.

MoonBaby1 · 25/05/2020 20:41

plan I soak through stomping in 20 mins if I get a mega clot (tmi)

OP posts:
DollyDally · 25/05/2020 20:41

When I had bad flooding I used to sleep on towels that I could then change. I wouldn’t want to get into a bed which was stained And I don’t think it’s right for your 2 year old either.

MoonBaby1 · 25/05/2020 20:42

Stomping is tampons 😂

OP posts:
Picklypickles · 25/05/2020 20:42

I would put a towel down under me if this was happening, I wouldn't have enough sheets to be changing them every night and I wouldn't want to lie back down in it again that's not nice.

dudsville · 25/05/2020 20:42

You poor thing, your period sounds awfully heavy. I can understand not wanting to, or having the bedding supplies or energy to change your bedding each night. You do what you can to look after yourself and don't ask others to judge you.

MoonBaby1 · 25/05/2020 20:43

Urine smells. I couldn’t. Period stains do not.

OP posts:
Maybe83 · 25/05/2020 20:43

I have horrendous periods. Needing tampon pad, two pairs of underwear and usually two pairs of pjs on a towel and still can ruin my sheets.

There is no way I couldn't change them. Especially as I share the bed and my young child often comes in during the night. It's so annoying but I couldn't leave them and get back into bed the next night.

IncrediblySadToo · 25/05/2020 20:43

I woukdn't. Partly because it's grim/skanky, but also because the stains are harder to get out.

Why is it such a big deal to change the bottom sheet?!

DontStandSoCloseToMe · 25/05/2020 20:43

YABU, I double up san pro and wear period pants, does the job. I used to have a soft dark towel for this purpose even when I lived alone which I'd throw in the wash in the morning

MoonBaby1 · 25/05/2020 20:44

Thanks dudsville 😊 I never know how normal heavy periods are.

OP posts:
crispysausagerolls · 25/05/2020 20:44

Can you clarify the amount of blood you are talking about? Really makes a difference I think

DollyDally · 25/05/2020 20:45

I had this, used tampons, sanitary pad and towels and different sheets for my half of the bed. Used to happen in the day too as once I was driving to work and it flooded to my knees.
I went on the pill and have not had a period in 2 years.
