Is it rough to leave period stairned sheets?

I sleep with my 2ur old and my dh sleeps in a separate room for now I have heavy periods which means despite wearing maxi pads and tampons combined I’ll always have a heavy night. I leave changing the sheets till my period has finished. Is this skany or ok?

CorianderLord · 25/05/2020 21:38

Yes it is but have I done it? Absolutely. It won't hurt anyone

Mischance · 25/05/2020 21:39

Sounds like my life before the hysterectomy - best thing I ever did!

Two super tampons and two thick pads would not get me through the night. Puppy pads in the bed are the answer.

Bargebill19 · 25/05/2020 21:39

For what it’s worth - disposable puppy pads are also good to use and reasonably cheap. They aren’t to hot or rough to sleep in and tend to stay in place.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 25/05/2020 21:40

This is pretty bad and I agree with PPs that

a) you must go back to the doctor for medical checks - a 30cm square patch of blood is a lot of blood to be leaking past a tampon and a pad

b) I think this is unpleasant for you but may become traumatic for your 2 year old sharing your bed, a 2 year old won't understand heavy periods and will associate blood with pain/injury

c) you could check if any contraceptive pills might help. I know you are bf but by age 2 (and if your periods have returned) I wouldn't have thought it would really make much difference, your 2 year old doesn't need large volumes of milk from a nutritional perspective and it won't affect their ability to suck for comfort

d) a large patch of blood in your bedding for days is going to attract bugs and mozzies, it's really quite gross OP, sorry.

Has anyone suggested puppy training pads? They're like a big square absorbent pad with a sticky back?

stophuggingme · 25/05/2020 21:41

I sleep on a couple of old towels, a puppy pad and a waterproof mattress protector when my period is bad which is every month.
I set my alarm and change my super plus tampon plus the maxi towel I have in every hour or so

Period stains do smell they are blood

I could not sleep in a stained bed and I also do co sleep with youngest child

ktjerl · 25/05/2020 21:43

Grab a set of these. They are great. You can wash them and hang to dry. They have a waterproof backing but a nice soft top and stay put. I've bought a pack of three. 1 on the bed, 1 in the wash/drying and 1 spare.

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 21:45

Puppy training pads are too small, I’ve found that they get tangled up at night and the sheets get stained.

You need something much longer and wider. Also towels feel uncomfortable. Bed pads work for me.

TheFairyCaravan · 25/05/2020 21:47

I couldn't sleep on a blood stained sheet.

I had horrendous periods for years. I slept on those Pampers Care Mats with a towel on top. I had an ablation about 14 years ago which was great and gave me my life back.

Go back to your GP @MoonBaby1 there's lots that can be done.

Redred2429 · 25/05/2020 21:48

I couldn't but it's whatever makes you feel comfortable

kateluvscats · 25/05/2020 21:48

Buy some full on huge incontinence pads, I used these until I was mirenaed.

Qwerty543 · 25/05/2020 21:49

Oh bullshit you do this.

ememem84 · 25/05/2020 21:49

@MoonBaby1 go back to your gp. Take the sheet if you have to...

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 21:50

Tena pants would work too. I use them when I have period on long haul flights.

MaggyMaysBeenTakenAway · 25/05/2020 21:52

I'm currently sleeping in a bed full of dog period blood. I can't be arsed washing it daily for it just to get messed up again. She won't keep her nappy on. She howls all night if she's not in my bed. I only have one mattress sheet. Can't afford to wash and dry it daily.

I really don't care. And yes I'm a tramp

MaggyMays

....get the dog spayed. Unless you are a proper breeder you should be doing this any way

MaggyMaysBeenTakenAway · 25/05/2020 21:57

She's 7 months old... It's her first season. You're not supposed to spay them before their first Hmm then you have to wait 2 months after.

justforthecake · 25/05/2020 21:59

Talk to your GP about Tranexamic acid.

Game changer for heavy periods

speakout · 25/05/2020 21:59

Shock
worldweary45 · 25/05/2020 22:00

Boak

MaggyMaysBeenTakenAway · 25/05/2020 22:01

I really don't care.

Not everyone has the facilities, energy and mental capacity.

I'm letting OP know she isn't alone.

Judge me all you want. I honestly couldn't give a fuck.
:)

womaninatightspot · 25/05/2020 22:04

This sounds a bit skanky but I have this weirdly heavy short period and I can bleed through any combination of san pro. I put a waterproof mattress protector not a fan of these generally but needs must and a sheet on top but I leave my own naice mattress protector and sheet in situ. Then in the morning I strip off the bloody mess and bung in machine and make the bed as normal.

amy85 · 25/05/2020 22:05

Skanky

Babypug · 25/05/2020 22:05

Especially with the dry weather if you can't afford to put the washing machine on. Just hand clean the sheets and let the dry they'll be done super quick. Buy dark sheets if you really can't clean or change them. It is quite surprising that you do it and admit to it on here as surely it would be something you'd keep quiet. Also what does your husband think...
