A lot of this time has been great and a real eye opener as to how many material things we don’t need. But I’m really struggling now and feel like a treat, money’s tight but I’ve spent way less than usual, so looking for an idea on a bit of a treat. What have you bought that’s made you smile?

Well, at the start of lockdown I managed to find some gym equipment after hours of googling! I bought weights, kettlebells and a balance ball to add to the rowing machine that had been gathering dust. I've surprised everyone by actually using it all regularly along with teenage DD.

I then got the gardening bug and bought 2 walk in mini greenhouses, veg seeds, pots, plants and compost... which has been repurchased countless times as plants have been potted on... And on!

After a vacuum fail I also bought a Shark cordless vacuum and am really pleased with it... Highly recommend!

Apart from that, there's been lots of nice food and wine and also rum too as I've discovered Mohitos! Delicious...especially with some lovely mint from the garden.

Though I think the games work for both so I could get a lite for me until they get back in stock...

Omg do it, I got myself a lite and no regrets, the kids have the original we can all play and I can play mine in peace Grin

Electric blinds for my office, because I’m sick of wearing a sodding baseball cap when I work - I look like a total knob but it’s the only way I can stop squinting and causing a headache!

AmIAWeed · 01/06/2020 08:14

Mainly plants for the garden, but our boiler gas developed a fault so I can now add boiler to my lockdown list...the good news is once it's done and oil tank moved I can go nuts in the garden again. Relocation of oil tank = relocation of hot tub (where the current oil tank is) then I can build the outdoor kitchen where the hot tub currently is.
Let's not forget plants to disguise the new oil tank.
I'm pushing for a greenhouse too replacing the oversized shed but suspect my husband will put his foot down!

buckeejit · 01/06/2020 09:14

Harper's bazaar beauty box & a breadmaker

Would like a magimix or a magimix micro but I'm not earning so it would be less than prudent!

LaChatte · 01/06/2020 09:38

Nothing!! Amazon warehouses were shutdown here in France for most of the lockdown and not many of the big places did online trading (post wasn't running for the first month). On the plus side I put over 3000€ into the savings account over two months (usually 400€ a month). Silver linings and all that.

After reading this thread I now want a robot vacuum cleaner but DH doesn't see the point (to be fair he's the one who does most of the housework, but I'd like the floor to be swept more than once a week and I just forget to do it).

Rhynswynd · 01/06/2020 09:46

In the past month I have bought an antique singer sewing machine and an antique Wertheim sewing machine. Altogether they cost $70 (£40ish). I already have an antique Dobbie sewing machine. I'm a bit in love.

Justasecondnow · 01/06/2020 15:37

@lunar1 - which model Eufy please?

And thanks to all other robot vac contributors... sorry for the robot related derail...

... I might need to start my own thread!

lunar1 · 01/06/2020 15:43

Wauden · 01/06/2020 21:06

@redwoodmazza. LTB!

HerRoyalNotness · 01/06/2020 21:28

An Instapot air fryer. It does ‘fried’ chicken wings and fries so well. The kids always thank me for buying it when I make them. I haven’t tried anything else in it yet.

Belledan1 · 01/06/2020 21:34

Thatsforsure. Thanks for the idea I have just ordered some off Amazon together with some of them peel skin sock things. I wfh too so hopefully have nice feet.

MulberryPeony · 01/06/2020 22:07

DS6 wanted some metallic felt pens and DD13 wanted some flower pastry cutters to replicate some jam tarts we saw on Instagram. Easily pleased!

buckeejit · 03/06/2020 23:32

I just remembered my favourite purchase - label maker to streamline the cupboards. So much fun
