Interested in how many peoples views on lockdown have changed. I know mine have and that of most of my family and friends.

YABU - nope, still resolutely sticking to the rules
YANBU - fuck it, if it’s ok for him to tour the country with a car full of coronavirus then I can go visit my mum?

Due to circumstances I can’t actually go visit my mum. But after this, if I could be doing then I would be doing.

No, YABU. Just cause he's a twat doesn't mean you should be too.

Rockbird · 25/05/2020 07:51

No. Because him being an arsehole doesn't prevent me and my family catching the virus.

Music101 · 25/05/2020 07:51

YABU

Still sticking to the rules - I don’t want a second wave and loads more people to die and until we have a treatment / a vaccine / iron clad testing and tracing, we are still in very fragile and potentially dangerous territory.

DDiva · 25/05/2020 07:51

I have bent the rules to see my parents in the garden 2 meters away, but not because of Dominic Cummings. Just because I felt I could control my risk there.

MadameMarie · 25/05/2020 07:51

Of course not because i'm not a selfish arsehole. If you break the rules you're as bad as him.

Milssofadoesntreallyfit · 25/05/2020 07:51

Agree with above, other people behaving questionably does not and should not justify you behaving that way too. Grow up.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 25/05/2020 07:51

Nope, because I'm not an idiot. I want to visit my Mum for years to come, not having people come out of lockdown early and put her (and others) at risk.

Nihiloxica · 25/05/2020 07:52

No, I thought "fuck it" before this scandal.

10 weeks locked up when the NHS is way under capacity.

I've done my bit.

Riojasmoothy · 25/05/2020 07:53

Exactly what Honeysuckle said. Hopefully the majority of us understand the reasons for lockdown and are not as self-important and irresponsible as that idiot.
I definitely get the frustration though. I want to see my mum desperately but would not risk her health for childcare purposes.

FaceOfASpink · 25/05/2020 07:53

No because I'm not a screaming arsehole like him.

FamilyOfAliens · 25/05/2020 07:54

It’s not about him “being a twat”.

Johnson said quite categorically that what Cummings did was not only not in breach of lockdown rules, but that “in every respect, he acted responsibly, legally and with integrity”.

In other words, it’s ok for any one of us to do exactly the same.

Finfintytint · 25/05/2020 07:55

I will continue to abide by the rules but I can see why some may now choose to interpret them in different ways due to Cummings’ action.

Lordamighty · 25/05/2020 07:56

This is turning into a witch hunt now.

FamilyOfAliens · 25/05/2020 07:57

It’s not about “choosing to interpret” the rules differently. Johnson said Cummings didn’t break the rules.

FancyARoot · 25/05/2020 07:57

V interesting! Everyone I’ve spoken to in rl bar one has had enough now. Feel like total mugs, as do I.

If they don’t feel the need to follow the rules, with all the inside info they have, then why should we?

OP posts:
Lostvoiced · 25/05/2020 07:57

I'm still staying in but I do feel like the government has lost all credibility to tell people to do so.

FamilyOfAliens · 25/05/2020 07:58

This is turning into a witch hunt now.

Well that didn’t take long.

Monkeynuts18 · 25/05/2020 07:58

To be honest, I was pretty sceptical before this. Peak reached on 8 April, NHS well within capacity and neither Dr Calderwood nor Professor Ferguson (both experts) thought the restrictions were important enough to follow. The fact that Dominic Cummings is an arsehole has just made me even more sceptical. But I’ll still follow the rules, because rules are rules. And I don’t want to endanger my parents.

FancyARoot · 25/05/2020 07:58

This is turning into a witch hunt now.

Good. Bloody should be.

OP posts:
CherryPavlova · 25/05/2020 08:00

So it should be Lordamighty

MadameMarie · 25/05/2020 08:00

@FancyARoot

To save lives. The Tories don't care about vulnerable people. Austerity killed more than Covid 19 has in UK.

Don't be a prick and be fair to people.

FancyARoot · 25/05/2020 08:00

Exactly. Not even a sniff of contrition.

The prime minister has categorically said that what he did was not only lawful, but morally right and to be applauded.

So why the fuck haven’t I let my kids play with the neighbours for months? I’m sure the isolation is affecting them.

OP posts:
Mum45678 · 25/05/2020 08:00

I’ve started to let my children play with a very small number of friends from their class in the local park. I’m following my instincts Hmm. Both my children (5yo / almost 8yo) are really suffering with their mental health.

Fairyliz · 25/05/2020 08:01

No I don’t live in London or Cumbria so what Dominic Cummings does doesn’t affect me at all. However what I do affects me, so I try and use my common sense.

Finfintytint · 25/05/2020 08:01

There is indeed opportunity to “ choose to interpret” things differently. Johnson has endorsed that explicitly.
