Painted Rocks

AIBU to hate the painted rocks people are leaving all around the place. Yes it might be a fun activity but if your kids want to paint rocks then do it at home and keep them there. When I walk through woods, or by fields then I want to enjoy the natural scenery not gaudily painted rocks very few yards. It is little better than littering the countryside.

I am very proud to award you my first ever

Biscuit

Congratulations. It's a fine honour

bloodyhellsbellsx · 24/05/2020 20:25

Oh do bore off

june2007 · 24/05/2020 20:26

I,m kind of with you.

saraclara · 24/05/2020 20:26

I found one last week and it made me happy. These little connections between people are what's making these times bearable for me. Somewhere a child sat and focused on creating this cheerful thing, went for a walk and chose a place to leave it to be found. A little thread of connection now links me to him or her, and I think that's lovely.

And I'm about the least sentimental person you'll come across.

littlebirdieblue · 24/05/2020 20:26

Wow! I really enjoy seeing the painted rocks, and my children love spotting them. Our village has 4 rock snakes that everyone has been adding to, one has over 300 rocks now and it looks amazing! We are going out tomorrow to find more painted rocks to add to it. I think it's a lovely idea and in my opinion you ABVU.

iano · 24/05/2020 20:26

You're kidding right? Confused

WoollyMammouth · 24/05/2020 20:32

Kids love it. Mine enjoy painting them. Every few yards? I doubt it.

Bluntness100 · 24/05/2020 20:35

I think you can still enjoy the natural scenery op. A few painted rocks won’t change that.

I’d maybe try to take a step back here and ask yourself why you’re reacting like this to something so harmless to you.

Joker123 · 24/05/2020 20:37

Karen?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 24/05/2020 20:37

It's a few wee rocks, they have hardly painted a muppet version of the sistine chapel on each and every tree.

Yab ridiculous

Aesopfable · 24/05/2020 20:47

Well, I see one person gets me. Grin

Rocks snakes in a village I am less concerned about tbh, just as if they were in someone’s garden. A mum round here has posted a picture of over a hundred of the things that will be scattered across a small local wood where they will sit amongst the spring flowers fading for the next few years along with offerings of other kids in the area. The odd rock may seem sweet and fun but it is moving beyond that. It is graffiti.

Jeez what a misery guts

Smarshian · 24/05/2020 20:48

Ok don’t be ridiculous!

PimaDona · 24/05/2020 20:49

I agree OP. It never just stays as one rock.

Our local woods has hundreds of them. And people have started adding “scenes” made out of paper, cardboard etc etc. The second it rains they’re just a soggy mess blowing around

Why not just leave them in the front gardens for kids to spot and look for?

Livedandlearned · 24/05/2020 20:49

I don't like them either

ludothedog · 24/05/2020 20:50

I love seeing the rocks. Makes me happy...

jugglingbeans · 24/05/2020 20:51

Do you suck the joy out of everything OP?

LaurieFairyCake · 24/05/2020 20:52

I'd like a few

But hundreds in a lovely natural environment would be horrid

user1000000000000000001 · 24/05/2020 20:52

Well aren't you a misery

AdelaideK · 24/05/2020 20:53

I used to think I was a right misery

Then I joined Mumsnet and realised I am practically Mary Poppins Grin

Seriously they're rocks. No big deal if they are painted or not.

SciFiScream · 24/05/2020 20:53

Damages the environment. Where do the rocks come from? Remember the outcry about stone cairns?

I love painted rocks. I also hate painted rocks.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 24/05/2020 20:54

They’re delightful. YABU

Florencemattell · 24/05/2020 20:54

A little of something nice is good, too much not so good. So if you have them every few feet, I agree . Not tasteful Grin

Justgorgeous · 24/05/2020 20:54

Seriously, get a life and a heart too.
