Ok he has done free 30 min sessions 5 days a week but an OBE? Really? His profit has rocketed, he has so much publicity it’s hardly selfless with all the relentless ‘press the like button’

OP posts:
Dumbie · 23/05/2020 22:28

YABU

He's got loads of kids active, gave them some structure to their day, continued it through surgery enlisting his DW to get involved, given parents a bit of respite, or the opportunity to exercise to, donated his profits to the nhs.

They give them out for far less.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/05/2020 22:31

He’s fantastic. My body has changed shape and I feel fitter and stronger thanks to Joe.

Areyouactuallyseriousrightnow · 23/05/2020 22:32

As PP have said there have been far less deserving recipients of honours (which is all a load of bolux anyway) so why not- he was in a position to help the nation stay fit healthy, positive and motivated, and he did, nonstop during the entire lockdown whilst raising a load of money too.
Yeh I’m sure he’ll have done alright out if the extra publicity but fair play to him I say.

Walkaround · 23/05/2020 22:33

Well, I enjoy joining in with his exercises, and he’s donating all the money raised to charity. He’s far more entertaining than the average online exercise session. I like pretending I’m clever being able to answer his quiz questions aimed at primary school children, too! Even my teenage ds finds him amusing enough to join in with, which has been brilliant, as he refused to engage with daily walks or other suggestions for exercise. It’s weird what motivates people!

Mulhollandmagoo · 23/05/2020 22:34

I think he deserves one, he's been a constant for kids throughout this whole thing, every single weekday morning at 9am without fail. Christ the poor guy had surgery on his arm and was back 12 hours later because he promised kids and parents he'd be there every day. I'm not sure why he gets so much hate to be honest, and yes, he's been donating all his ad revenue to the NHS together charity so he's doing it for free (I'm not naive enough to think other well paid work wont come off the back of it, but this he's doing for free) I'm not even a massive fan of his and even I can see the guy deserves it, especially in comparison to who's been given one before

BlueBooby · 23/05/2020 22:35

I predicted this might happen after I did his first workout. I should get a nomination too.

BlueBooby · 23/05/2020 22:37

I think he does deserve it. He didn't have to do this and it was a nice thing to do.. I've probably averaged one workout a week during lockdown and they've always brightened my day.

LaurieMarlow · 23/05/2020 22:38

Totally deserves it. He’s been amazing.

Ostanovka · 23/05/2020 22:38

I think it's deserved. My kids wouldn't have done any exercise in the past few months without him.

EarlLeighIndamornin · 23/05/2020 22:42

Who pissed on your chips OP?

reginafalange2020 · 23/05/2020 22:45

I think he deserves it. He's had an extremely positive impact on thousands of families during a particularly trying time. All the money he has raised from his YouTube channel has been donated to the NHS. He has helped people's physical and mental health and brought families together. Not only that, he committed to doing this all week every week for the duration of lockdown despite having an injured wrist and needing surgery. He's a very positive role model for young children. GO JOE!!

Hello1290 · 23/05/2020 22:45

I hope he gets one. DD has done PE with Joe every single day since he began. It motivates her to get up in the morning and keeps her fit. She's 13 so not one of the younger ones doing it. I think it's good for her mental health during this crisis to have something she enjoys and can engage with each weekday.
He even carried on by roping his wife in when he hurt his hand! He could have easily cancelled - everyone would have understood.
He's committed and donating lots of cash.
Good on you Joe I'm sure you will have lots of disappointment fans once it has to end.

Hello1290 · 23/05/2020 22:47

*disappointed fans

geekone · 23/05/2020 22:53

What the hell. What does he deserve such vitriol from people. MN sometimes shows exactly what is wrong with the world. No “be kind” on here that is for sure. There is certainly a Lot of jealousy where successful people are concerned.
We like Joe, also he is harmless and trying to help. What are you armchair warriors up to? Cock all I imagine.

whichteaareyou · 23/05/2020 22:53

He's donated all profits made from his PE to the NHS plus he's been doing it with a broken wrist. He's making the UK a fitter place! back off!

ItchyScratch · 23/05/2020 23:03

I let someone out at a junction today. I flashed my lights and they drove and gave me a wave to say thanks.
I’m assuming I will be nominated for an OBE now too

FliesandPies · 23/05/2020 23:07

I think he deserves it, certainly far far more than the awards handed out to grubby ministers and political donors etc.

He's helped a lot of people to deal with lockdown, overcome adversity to become a high-achiever, he's a great role-model.

inwood · 23/05/2020 23:22

I doubt he though it would go on this long. He did it with a broken wrist and following infection. He's donated the profits from his channel to the NHS.

Can't really fault him.

LaurieMarlow · 23/05/2020 23:23

I’m assuming I will be nominated for an OBE now too

Wtaf?

namechangetheworld · 24/05/2020 00:18

I'm on the fence. I have no issue with him as a person and actually think he's done a great job getting people off their arses, and should be rewarded for this.

However, I do think he did it for entirely selfish reasons. He saw an opportunity to widen his audience and make a bit of money off of the back of it. I know he's donating the profits to the NHS, and bloody good for him, but he'll be getting plenty of money on top of that through sponsorships, increased activity on his blog, book deals etc. I think that he's a savvy businessman and that was his original plan all along, so I don't think we can claim he's doing this for the good of the nation.

Chocolatefixeseverything · 24/05/2020 00:25

I'm not a fan but alot of people have done alot less gave been given the in the past. He's been proactive in a shitty moment in time, profits have been donated to nhs charities. I'm much happier him getting one than obscenely paid footballers etc.

Moomin12345 · 24/05/2020 00:28

Goes to show how silly and meaningless those types of tiles are.

BigBairyHollocks · 24/05/2020 00:38

He deserves it.Jow has been the only thing getting our house moving. YABU

Redrosesandsunsets · 24/05/2020 00:40

It’s great news. He jumped in at a key time and helped lots of families. Great to hear.

EarlLeighIndamornin · 24/05/2020 02:24

Yet another fucking waste of space starting a goady thread they can't be be bothered to come back to.

Bye bye MF.
