Ok he has done free 30 min sessions 5 days a week but an OBE? Really? His profit has rocketed, he has so much publicity it’s hardly selfless with all the relentless ‘press the like button’

OP posts:
BakewellTarts · 23/05/2020 20:54

Thinking further my family have 30 minutes of fun together every weekday. For that in these grim times give him an OBE.

nasalspray · 23/05/2020 20:54

@Iwantcakenow

Maybe you could ask MNHQ to edit the thread title to include the word 'nomination'

1Morewineplease · 23/05/2020 20:56

This seems a bit silly, especially as he bends wherever the wind blows, when so many people have done so much more but without a fanfare.
Maybe this is a case of ‘Those who shout loudest..?’

Bluebell1995 · 23/05/2020 20:56

I think he's done well encouraging PE during the lockdown. Good on him.

As someone who is out at work every day with older kids at home, I appreciate him being a constant every morning to get them up out of bed and exercising.

Dyrne · 23/05/2020 20:59

Oh for fucks sake. People here clearly haven’t bothered to even vaguely google how the whole OBE process works.

You don’t just get awarded one out of the blue - someone nominates you, it’s a pretty involved process. There are various categories you can nominate people under including being a leader in their field etc; it’s not all high profile people or people associated with charity.

For those bitching that there are so many more deserving people, well here’s the form. Off you fuck and nominate them then:

ALbigbump · 23/05/2020 21:00

I think he’s great too, he’s got me back into exercise, plus my 8 year old loves him, we do his PE most days together. Go Joe!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/05/2020 21:03

I hope he gets it. He has been bloody amazing.

Musicforsmorks · 23/05/2020 21:04

I always expect people to get obe’s for simply becoming rich or popular, it’s like a national form of facebook likes. And the queen is like the top influencer 😁

Clemmieandareallybigbunfight · 23/05/2020 21:04

He's made a huge difference to a lot of people. Routine has got some families though this AND he's helped people keep well. It's pretty full on, planning and delivering daily.

Littleposh · 23/05/2020 21:05

I thought he donated his profits??

Musicforsmorks · 23/05/2020 21:05

Like how the fuck did Phillip green get a knighthood? Or Duncan Smith? Seriously

JW is benign, he’s ok, but it’s all a pile of crap.

HesterShaw1 · 23/05/2020 21:13

Oh come on. He has been amazing. He has kept an awful lot of children and his parents active in the most utterly trying of circumstances, and I'm pretty sure he didn't realise it was going to last this bloody long.

Did I imagine that he was donating his profits?

HesterShaw1 · 23/05/2020 21:14

their parents not his Grin

GrandAltogetherSo · 23/05/2020 21:16

He’s not my cup of tea.
How anyone can bare listening to his awful voice beats me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/05/2020 21:16

He isn’t earning anything from the workout. He donated all the youtube earnings.

roundtable · 23/05/2020 21:17

Beckham will be fuming Grin

Sparklingbrook · 23/05/2020 21:18

Oh yes @roundtable there is an upside. Grin

FizzyGreenWater · 23/05/2020 21:20

Fuck's sake.

Raahh · 23/05/2020 21:21

Beckham has an OBE.

It's a knighthood he wants Wink

bananaskinsnomnom · 23/05/2020 21:22

Is he carrying on once schools start to go back?

He certainly made me realise I could improve my fitness Grin

Gncq · 23/05/2020 21:24

Russel Brand interviewing Russel Brand
Or, Joe Wicks interviewing Russel Brand?

It's a great interview anyway!

SunflowerSeedsForever · 23/05/2020 21:24

I know how it works as i regularly get asked to comment on suitability.

However I also know that some people get awarded one very quickly because a senior politician wants them to have one.

rookiemere · 23/05/2020 21:25

He totally deserves it. Every day since this started he has provided structure and exercise for free and particularly geared at children who have had their lives so seriously constricted. Even when he wasn't able to do it himself rather than dropping out he involved his wife and got her to do it instead.

Sure there is some publicity in there, but I'm sure he has been an absolute godsend to parents of younger DCs worried that they won't be getting enough exercise sadly DS 14 far too cool to get up for 9am for some badly needed physical exertion.

Far better a role model than the Royal family who hands out these honours. Now what have they done during the pandemic for their loyal populace Hmm.

Armi · 23/05/2020 21:25

I hope he gets it. I have really struggled with my mental health during lockdown and his workouts give structure to the day. DD and I have to be up and dressed and ready to go at 9 because of his workout. I always feel better after it, I love that he never talks about the virus and I love all his little tweaks and changes to keep us all interested. I’m astonished that after years of being enormously fat (truly) and horribly lacking in flexibility, I am now putting my socks on with ease and can see my original shape reappearing.

He might be really irritating but he’s a total sweetie.

Sparklingbrook · 23/05/2020 21:26

I always thought they were awarded to people that had done loads of great stuff over a long period of time.

I forgot DB already had one-how did that happen even?
