Favourite old children’s shows

Sorry for shamelessly using AIBU for traffic!

I’m pregnant and feeling nostalgic for the children’s tv shows of my childhood! My absolute favourite was Old Bear Stories (from the Jane Hissey books), and I’ve just seen it’s all on YouTube so I can’t wait to show them to my baby!

What were your favourites, and do you think they beat out the Pepper Pigs of today?

I loved Botton Moon, You and Me, Cockleshell Bay, Telebugs, and Playschool when I was tiny. I remember being frightened of Zelda (?) from Terrorhawks.

When I got a bit older I liked Willy Fog, Knightmare, Dogtanian, T-bag, and serials like The Tomorrow People and The Girl From Tomorrow (it appears my generation was fascinated with "tomorrow").

livelyredjellybean · 23/05/2020 15:32

Anyone remember Sharky and George??? My little girl would LOVE it!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 23/05/2020 15:34

Funhouse- it's a whole lotta fun, prizes to be won.

Art Attack. Especially when he did the giant ones.

zscaler · 23/05/2020 15:40

Yes to art attack, Sharky and George, and Dogtanian! I loved those

I am really old - some of my favourites (back in the 1970's):

Kizzy
Lizzy Dripping
Rentaghost
Marine Boy
Whirlybirds
Casey Jones
Why don't you...?

Oh, my goodness, nostalgia is a double edged sword when it reminds one of how quickly the years have passedShock

Planesmistakenforstars · 23/05/2020 15:53

Rentaghost when I was very young, but nothing could compare to Ulysses 31 when I was a bit older.

Beekeeper1 · 23/05/2020 16:00

Did actually buy Lizzy Dripping on DVD a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed watching it again.

And Kizzy, in its entirety, is on youtube - never thought I would get to see it again!

And Catweazle - how could I forget Catweazle

Or Noggin The Nog
Animal Magic
Tales From The Riverbank
Pipkins

They are all coming back to me now!

Flipflopsaga · 23/05/2020 16:12

We didn't have a tv when I was a child, but my children (and I) loved Maid Marian. Every Pancake Day we all sing "it's pancake day, yes it's pancake day, it's pppppppp pancake day....". Well actually we message it to each other now!
