Not to let 2 year old ds watch Peppa pig?

I have Netflix and there’s big images of Peppa pig and he keeps asking to watch it but I’ve only heard bad things about it. Is it really that bad ? I’m torn because I personally think I’d hate sitting through it and have heard it’s pretty bad animation and Peppa shows unpleasant behavior with a positive resolution, we currently watch things like puffin rock etc...

It's absolutely fine.

GameSetMatch · 23/05/2020 14:55

My children watch peppa pig, both are very well behaved and have good manners, watching an episode or two of peppa pig three times a week isn’t going to affect them or turn them rude, it’s about moderation.

HaveAtEm · 23/05/2020 14:55

Have you watched it OP? I mean, seriously...it's a children's cartoon aimed at pre-schoolers ffs!! Just watch it yourself and devise 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

JaineyMac · 23/05/2020 14:55

It’s a cartoon. Not a documentary.

Pannacottaformeplease · 23/05/2020 14:55

It's brilliant. Can't believe some people don't let their children watch it. Censorship never works in the long run - their peers tell them everything.

SunshineDays2019 · 23/05/2020 14:56

Wow, I think a couple of posters need a saucer of milk! Miaow!!!

LoadsaBlusher · 23/05/2020 14:56

Totally Hey Duggee here - but I always think with its retro vibes it is based on various elements of 80’s shows / movies etc

There was a scene where one of the kids is outside in the rain and has to choose a hole to put his hand in and is shouting “ whiiiiccchh one “ and it REALLY reminds me of the scene in the film Flash Gordon where he has to choose a hole to put his hand in the tree stump ...

Also the episodes where the chickens need to get fit so do 80’s aerobics outside the chicken hut with the instructor ostrich in leg warmers etc

I watch FAR TOO MANY EPISODES OF HEY DUGGEE

Chickychickydodah · 23/05/2020 14:56

Yeah Peppa is awful, hey duggie is better, funnier and there are in jokes for parents 🤣

GinWithRosie · 23/05/2020 14:56

All this angst OP about a cartoon for toddlers? Good lord!

Nameisthegame · 23/05/2020 14:57

@LassoOfTruth literally watching twirly woo now so my mum can work lol I have no childcare, single mum in a country which had a very strict lockdown it’s really hard so happy to finally be able to take ds out for a hours walk now.

Hey Duggee and Sarah and Duck are both brilliant. I think I've watched more of them than DD Grin

LokihasafryingPan · 23/05/2020 14:58

I'd heard it was pretty hard to sit through, but since lockdown I couldn't stand any more bing! (Which actually does promote bad behaviour with no consequences!)
Its actually alright quite funny.
We are actually getting her a papa toy for her 2and birthday in a few weeks now haha!
Try tee and mo on cbeebies, I love tee and mo! DD copies tee a lot though! And my petsaurus, dog loves books, lovemonster all cbeebies.
On netflix DD really loves toot toot cars cory carson

TheClitterati · 23/05/2020 14:59

Peppa Pig is brilliant. She won't destroy your family.

Plus the "bong bing" song! Grin

Raaaa · 23/05/2020 15:00

My DD enjoys it and has PP bedding and a PP toy she takes to bed with her every night. It's annoying for an adult but she enjoys it, yes Peppa is bossy but I don't think it's harmful and before I know it she will be onto the next thing.

*if it gives me a break I'm all for it

Needhelp101 · 23/05/2020 15:02

Abney and Teal. Sarah and Duck.
Both of which I would voluntarily watch without children.

1forAll74 · 23/05/2020 15:03

I think my two Grandsons watched it when they were young, they used to tell me about it when I saw them. I have not seen it at all, but switched it on once, as found out that one of my neighbours does the voice over for one of the characters,so wanted to hear that.

Nameisthegame · 23/05/2020 15:03

No duggee on my Netflix but put on Shawn the sheep bice brain break.

troppibambini · 23/05/2020 15:03

Better than bing. Now he is a twat.

pointythings · 23/05/2020 15:04

This is on a par with a former friend of mine who wouldn't let her DS watch Scooby Doo (the old ones) because it was 'occult'. Hmm

ScarfLadysBag · 23/05/2020 15:04

Hey Duggee and Sarah and Duck are both on iPlayer

Lavenderpurple · 23/05/2020 15:04

My dd loves it. And she’s learnt quite a lot of (positive) things from it.

JetSetGo · 23/05/2020 15:05

Lol. Peppa Pig is fine. Your sheltering DS far too much.

Rosebel · 23/05/2020 15:06

My children, now teens, loved Peppa Pig when they were younger. IMO it's one of the better children's cartoons. I'm pregnant again and will certainly have no objection to my LO watching it.

Poetryinaction · 23/05/2020 15:06

I didn't allow it for DC1 and DC2. I didn't like the snorting and the merchandise.
Dc3 is 2 years old and hooked on Peppa. It's fine.

IPityThePontipines · 23/05/2020 15:06

@TildaTurnip

The whistling episode has one of the best depictions of friendship between children, ever.

I love Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly. I feel a bit sad mine have grown out of them now.
