AIBU?

Not to let 2 year old ds watch Peppa pig?

I have Netflix and there’s big images of Peppa pig and he keeps asking to watch it but I’ve only heard bad things about it. Is it really that bad ? I’m torn because I personally think I’d hate sitting through it and have heard it’s pretty bad animation and Peppa shows unpleasant behavior with a positive resolution, we currently watch things like puffin rock etc...

How about Ben and Holly instead? Has some of the same actors and ours loved it.

I tiijnk its quote funny. If Peppa is a bit of a brat, it always backfires on her. You could always, watch an episode while DS is not around to screen it? It's only 5 mins long!

I recommend a series called "Big Barn Farm". The animals are real, the stories are gentle and all about friendly co-operative relationships. Or GC's adored it. We had it on DVD but you can also find it on youtube and Cbeebies.

If you;re worried about suitability of any childrens TV, just record it then view it yourself when they're in bed.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

When I grow up, I want to be like you.

OP, it's a preschoolers' cartoon about a pig family who do things like go to the seaside and have eye tests and jump in muddy puddles. The animation grows on you, it's supposed to look like that, and actually at least it's not that 3D computer graphic that you get everywhere else. My daughter watched it and I'm told she's as normal as anyone who's related to me could hope to be.

I've sat through hours of Peppa Pig with my grandchildren in the past, and while it's hardly Tolstoy I really don't think any child would be harmed by watching it.

The whistling episode is my favourite too. The part where Peppa coldy hangs up the phone on Suzy Sheep makes me laugh every single time.

Oh, and Pedro Pony is a legend.

@TildaTurnip I know which episode you mean! I chuckle when Peppa calls susie sheep! (I don't like Susie sheep though, especially after she stole Peppa's talent in another episode!)

@Cam2020 I didn’t realize it was so short, I only have a iPad no phone I left my job last year and escaped from my abusive ex. I work every moment I can but at 5 min I’ll watch a couple of episodes tonight.

My kids have watched and although it’s normally harmless I watched one where pepper and her mum were royally taking the piss out of daddy pig being fat! They totally fat shamed him and his face was flushed with embarrassment Shock

Daddy pig does take a bit of a hammering!! Grin

However there will be much worse shit that he will want to watch as he gets older!

Peppa grows on you. The newer episodes have gone very meta Grin, those are on channel 5 though.

Hey Duggee is amazing. Numberblocks on Iplayer is very good as well, and very educational.

It's not that bad but Peppa is a brat, without a doubt Smile. Watch an episode first on your own and see what you think? On Netflix DD(2.5) and I mostly watch Hey Duggee, Sean the Sheep/Timmy, and she also likes the Twirley Woos(sp?). They're all pretty gentle. In the time before the combination of lockdown+WFH+no childcare+advanced pregnancy hit us she didn't really get to watch TV at all so my DD is also very easily mesmerized and influenced. Now I'd probably let her watch anything if it meant we could just sit quietly for a few minutes!

Don't forget Ben and Holly. My favourite episode is the 2001 take-off when Nanny Plum floats off into space while complaining that she still hasn't been to the toilet.

I get that it’s just a cartoon but ds ,has emulated bad behavior frsom shows before , I wanted to see what other parents thought there’s plenty of other things to watch.

OMG. People have a problem with Peppa Pig? I did not realise. Mind you when I was growing up some parents didn’t allow kids to watch Grange Hill for the same reason.
