Not to let 2 year old ds watch Peppa pig?

I have Netflix and there’s big images of Peppa pig and he keeps asking to watch it but I’ve only heard bad things about it. Is it really that bad ? I’m torn because I personally think I’d hate sitting through it and have heard it’s pretty bad animation and Peppa shows unpleasant behavior with a positive resolution, we currently watch things like puffin rock etc...

@Shmithecat2 Omg!! Was it that bad!?? The explanation was rank enough...🤢

I'm going to have to have a look now....dettol/eyebath at the ready....!

Henio · 24/05/2020 21:10

I can't stand peppa pig personally, the muddy puddle thing winds me up, not everyone loves muddy puddles! f* muddy puddles... sorry, I feel better now. Hey duggee is my fav Smile

ShinyFootball · 24/05/2020 21:11

Fluffy my 10 yo still watches it! And I'm aok with that 😐

CloudyVanilla · 24/05/2020 21:16

Best small kids shows:

Hey Duggee
Tumbleleaf
The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That
Tellitubbies (for them, not me)
Mr Tumble (definitely not for me)

Worst
Bing - the pandering is awful and Bing does something bad literally EVERY episode - he even killed a butterfly in one :O
Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom - classiest and too much if the script is aimed at adults. Think little jokes that go right over the kids heads and a mayor that looks like Boris Johnson.

CloudyVanilla · 24/05/2020 21:16

Classist *

CloudyVanilla · 24/05/2020 21:19

Oh and sorry- Timmy Time and Shaun thr Sheep are fantastic!!

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 24/05/2020 21:19

As you keep mentioning Spanish, you’ve presumably already found Pocoyo? It’s originally Spanish and great. The earlier episodes were dubbed into English by Stephen Fry.

Yakka Dee is fun for speech and Numberblocks is absolutely brilliant.

Having seen all the Peppa merchandising around before I had DS, I was expecting it to be rubbish and annoying but I genuinely love it. The writing is really clever, the characters and narrator speak so clearly and it is basically spot-on observational comedy about British family life. I’m not sure why people are getting so hey up about Peppa remarking on Daddy Pig’s fat tummy- he does have a fat tummy?! Surely better to point it out than allow him (and kids) to think his unhealthy lifestyle is acceptable Wink?

You wanted one about being kind to animals- look for the episodes with the vet in them, Dr Hamster I think it is.

I love the one where Daddy Pig goes by train to inspect a block of concrete in some Easter European country and they treat him like engineering royalty. Or the one when Mummy volunteers to go to soft play. I’ll be sad when he grows out of Peppa.

Chattycatty · 24/05/2020 22:22

Love the bing bong song and also Mr bull and mr wolf although I hate peppa she needs a slapped leg as my gran would say

Caplin · 24/05/2020 22:27

God I loved Peppa Pig, and Ben and Holly. There was so much adult humour tucked away in it. Loved it when they went into Daddy pig’s office

Frankola · 24/05/2020 23:30

Peppa is a total brat.
That being said, she's not bratty enough for a child to really pick up on. Just for parents to want to drop kick...

Hey Dugee is so much better.

My daughter loves Peter Rabbit too. Hes a bit of a dick but Benjamin and Lily balance him out.

For the love of god dont watch Bing.

Frankola · 24/05/2020 23:32

Oh I forgot Timmy Time. That's quite wholesome.

I refuse to do teletubbies. It teaches children nothing at all. They dont even speak english.

MinorArcana · 25/05/2020 00:40

Bing is just full of one bad decision after another. Every time I see it I’m wondering what Bing’s going to do wrong today. I can’t think of a single Bing episode where everything’s fine all the way through.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 25/05/2020 08:59

Peppa looks like a 13 year old’s graffiti of cock and balls. (That image is never leaving you)

I’m not a Peppa fan.
Bing is a whinging shit.

But I like:
Twirlywoos
Hey Duggee
Bluey is a huge hit in our house. It’s funny, lovey and we play the games

CloudyVanilla · 25/05/2020 09:02

What I like about teletubbies is the bit where they go and visit the children doing stuff, and then they repeat that a second time :)

CloudyVanilla · 25/05/2020 09:03

Oh yes twirlywoos! Excellent show

Nanny0gg · 25/05/2020 09:20

@raviolidreaming my 9 year old grandson was watching Hey Duggee with his little sister and got all excited when he realised it was a take-off of Scooby Do!

raviolidreaming · 25/05/2020 09:37

Nanny0gg Duggee is a gift for all!

Alas, I'm currently watching Bing - who I will concede is very relatable sometimes 🥴

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 25/05/2020 10:45

Another one that I really like and which hasn’t been mentioned is Raa Raa The Noisy Lion. It was only on BBC when we watched but might be out there somewhere. Nice little stories with humour, good animation and gentle lessons learned.

A different type of thing that my son loved was Milkshake Music Box, in which the presenters teach the words of nursery rhymes and then dress up and do a fun version. It’s on YouTube. The singing and dancing is very high standard.

IncrediblySadToo · 25/05/2020 14:42

If you want bratty - watch Charlie & Lola. Makes peppa look like an angel

Taddda · 25/05/2020 14:43

What was the one with the Puppets on the barge boat??

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 25/05/2020 15:21

@Taddda Rosie and Jim

Taddda · 25/05/2020 15:31

Rosie & Jim! Thanks v much @nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut Smile

ScarfLadysBag · 25/05/2020 15:45

Not only is Teletubbies still being aired at 6.30am weekdays, but they've somehow had babies: the Tiddlytubbies. I discovered this just the other day. I don't know who shagged who.

LumaLou · 25/05/2020 18:34

The thing is with Peppa, once you Have opened the floodgates, it’s impossible to go back.

happyhappyhour · 25/05/2020 18:35

Ben and Holly is made by the same people and miles better!
