Child left for 45 mins in own poo??

ShallallalAa · 23/05/2020 12:05

My dc aged 4 was left for 45 mins at school having pooed herself (I am a first response worker BTW and dp was 2 hours away)
She was left in the loo covered in her own poo. I left immediately and got there and left colleagues on the ward.
Should she have been changed or helped to clean herself up by a staff member?
She was extremely distressed by the time I got there.

Why female staff only?
Female pupil = ideally two female members of staff

Any word back from the school yet OP?
You were doing your dinger on here as you were so upset so I’m presuming you’d have been in touch with the head teacher early doors this week.

Just wondering how you got on and what you did (email/phone/letter?)

That's really awful. My DDs wet themselves a couple of times at that age, they had help from their TAs. DD1 was told off, which actually did the trick, she never made the mistake again (I had no problem with that! Grin) I remember that I soiled my knickers at that age because I hated the school toilets, that can be an issue for young children too.

I wonder if this is now what happens at school because of concerns about social distancing, if that's the case it should be talked about with parents, because a child shouldn't be left in soiled pants, it's very unhygienic and can cause an infection. It's something that will happen sometimes with early years and there needs to be an established policy really.

Any update from the school OP?

I appreciate its only two weeks ago and you are busy working but there are 16 pages of posts and people may be in the same situation as your dc so they will be grateful for any info your school may have provided.

This is so sad :(

My just 3yr is potty trained and had maybe 1/2 accidents when ‘tortoise got curious’ and didn’t quite make potty in time

But rare

As much as she would like to start pre school and me have some me time , df and I decided not to send her at the moment - no need as I’m at home (work nights) and spaces i feel are for key workers And vulnerable kids

But

When she does go , I would feel awful and she she would be so upset if left alone crying in poo

I’m hoping our preschool would help wipe poo /change if needed help

Elieza · 10/06/2020 19:51

It would be sad if it was real. I don’t think it is now.

She’s had a couple of weeks to contact the school and ask what happened and get an explanation. Yet she does no appear to have done so. Or refuses to post the answer.

Either way not helpful to the 16 pages of posters who were there to support her.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/06/2020 22:24

I didn’t even look at the date. Assumed was yesterday

SophieFisher · 11/06/2020 09:46

On the last week before schools closed I was in at my mum and sister's school because mine had closed already. Due to staff already being off I was helping in Reception. 3 of the 8 children in had soiled themselves within 10 mins and I was left with the other 5 whilst the teacher went to help the other 3. No questions, no problems she just did her job and helped them.

Elieza · 11/06/2020 10:06

I know @Blondeshavemorefun, anyone reading it woukd think it was just yesterday kind of thing.

The OP has had a couple of weeks to update us about what action she has taken about something that was apparently so important to her (and many others on this thread) and yet appears to have done nothing.

Others will now be worried in case it happens to their child. I hope the OP updates soon. Could just be a poo troll right enough.

Nonnymum · 11/06/2020 10:11

The more important issue is why she pooed herself.
No it's not most children have accidents sometimes don't they? It's not unusual for a 4 year old to have an accident

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/06/2020 10:34

@ShallallalAa what happened. Can you update us
