Are some of the most ignorant people on the planet???!!!

I have just been torn a new bum hole on FB, for adding some perspective to a very angry post on FB. FB post went something like this:

"300+ more fucking dead today. When will these fucking idiots learn that they havd to stay in fucking doors? I had a go at atleast 10 people in Tescos today (she didn't explain why) The longer they are stupid the longer this will go on..... Etc... Etc"

Lots of people went on: "I agree hun" "OMG so totally with you etc"

I went on and screenshotted Prof Sikoras tweet about week on week reductions and to say there is light at the end of the tunnel, chin up etc.

Well.......!!!!! The abuse!!!!!!!!

I'm dancing on people's graves... How can you be excited? I bet you are one of the c*nts going out and seeing family? (I have ONCE at my Nan's funeral) I am disgusting human being. How can I be happy that only 300 odd have died....you get the picture.

Am I wrong to find perspective/relief/optimism that the numbers are going down, or should I be wallowing and consigned to months and months of doom for the foreseeable??

Cannot believe how polarised views are here. People I know in RL are just muddling along (broadly) following the rules

Yeah I agree people are just muddling along, the difficulty on MN is that there are so many threads with the OP declaring they are the only person following the rules, every neighbour is breaking the rules, etc etc that is just gets people's backs up.

In terms of the supermarkets, I have just been, the two seconds in which I pass someone is not in anyway a danger to them, if you are in a queue outside or for a till, yes keep more distance, but two seconds of passing is ok.

The death rate has gone down. It's not that long ago (maybe 2 weeks) that it was 600 to 700 people a day. Unfortunately I just think the easing of restrictions is going to make the death rate rise again but they have to be eased at some point

WaterOffADucksCrack · 22/05/2020 22:59

MintyMabel You sound incredibly bothered. Which keyworkers don't you think should be going to work right now? And what's wrong with people asking others to obey lockdown when they are putting their lives and the lives of their families at risk?

GlummyMcGlummerson · 22/05/2020 23:37

YANBU. My local spotted is hilarious. Most days people literally make numbers up - "another 6,000 dead today" Hmm really Keith?! REALLY.

My sister has shown herself to be a horrendous busy body, she must spend her entire days curtain twitching as she's reported all her neighbours (but bad friends round herself) and is very righteous about the Thursday clap and who is doing it. It's embarrassing. She's also an at-home beautician, for all the ranting about STAY THE FUCK HOME every 5 minutes on Facebook i was amazed to see she'd opened up her business again this week.

If you're not surviving on eating dust and by licking the moisture off the stones in your garden, then you're literally a murderer.

Lol so true GrinGrinGrin

Jux · 22/05/2020 23:45

Aridane Grin it was a little ranty; needed some humour - thanks for supplying it!

understandmenow · 23/05/2020 06:05

I mean, they are right. The death toll isn’t reducing at all, there’s still 300+ dying a day and the infection rate isn’t reducing either.

Such utter rubbish.... the death rate is reducing and so is the infection rate. The infection rate looks high compared to previous rates as we have far more testing now, during the peak we were only testing those presenting at hospital, now anyone with symptoms can be tested, therefore even slight symptoms are showing on the infection rate.

I'm not sure why anyone would make the statement the death rate isn't reducing at all?

April 10th it was over 1172 and yesterday was 351, how is that not a reduction?

BeltaneBride · 23/05/2020 07:18

Anyone who writes 'hun' is likely to be thick /just ignore and unfollow.

Jux · 23/05/2020 17:40

Having posted the above minor-vent on this thread, I'll go on to say that as a result of so many people coming here for the BH w/e that our butcher had one chicken breast left when we go there at about 11, and he'll have no more chicken until Wednesday now. He has no beef or lamb left either. There is some diced pork, a little unsmoked bacon, a few pieces of oxtail and a couple of faggots, one pack of 4 slices of black pudding. No sausages.

The queues to get into Tesco, Lidl etc are ridiculous. We went around 4, as we usually do (quieter, short queues) but not today; DH will go at about 6.30 now, hoping that there'll actually be some food left......

Every shop we went into, the staff were talking about tourists, who don't follow the rules, don't like the queues or the indications of 2m distances when queueing.

The pavements are covered in dog shit, too; bins overflowing. The Council will have to schedule extra bin emptying (which we, as locals, will have to pay for eventually).

These are good reasons why we wish people would just stay at home and follow the rules. There are local news stories of people driving hundreds of miles to get here - that's not a day trip, is it? Our police are trying to turn people back, send people home, but the're fighting a losing battle.

And then that bloody Cummings bloke does exactly what he shouldn't have done and lies about it, setting such a good example.

understandmenow · 23/05/2020 19:10

@Jux you talk utter fucking bollocks! Luke everyone out of your area is a total lowlife!

Get a fucking grip!!!

trappedsincesundaymorn · 23/05/2020 19:46

Sorry but bandying around terms like murdering or killing people is wrong from both sides. If you'd had a close relative die of covid you might see it differently

I have and you have no idea of the absolute shit I've had from people who have used my mum's (and the 30,000 others) death, to justify their behaviour towards those who dare to have a different opinion. I have been told (as mentioned up thread), that I am pissing on mums grave, that I should be ashamed of myself for daring to mention how my MH has bombed. That I should stand by the numerous "I'm not sending my kids to school to die" posts even though it's got nothing to do with me I don't have school aged children. I have been abused for daring to support my dad by going to his house after mum died as he was alone and I was worried for him. All of this is followed up by DON'T YOU CARE YOUR MUM'S DIED FROM THIS!!!!!! in big shouty capital letters. I have read threads on here where a poster defends their "people who break the rules are selfish" stance with the words..."tell that someone who has lost a relative then", because that's the best they can do. I think what I'm really pissed of about are people using the dead to score points then have the nerve to call other posters disrespectful.

Khione · 23/05/2020 22:46

@Whattodowhattodooo
100% behind you.

Every death is sad in some way.
Covid deaths aren't any more or less sad than any other.

I don't care about anyone who has died - I care desperately about those they left behind, they are the ones that have to come to terms with it.

People are scared in a way they have never been scared before - is this the scariest thing that has ever happened - NO not by a long way. The big problem is, is this is the biggest, scariest thing to come along since everyone is our next door neighbour courtesy of the internet.

Only 20 years ago, if no-one in your neighbourhood had died then clearly you weren't at risk. Fear sharing was done on a one to one basis and was easy to avoid. Now it's different.

I'm 65, according to stats I've got a good few years to go but as far as I'm concerned 'Give me liberty or give me death' (Patrick Henry).

justasking111 · 23/05/2020 23:25

It is the scariest thing they have had to deal with since brexit, catastrophising really took off then and looks like it is here to stay.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 24/05/2020 01:35

They're psychotic! Do NOT engage Grin

Jux · 24/05/2020 13:27

understandmenow, I'm reporting what is happening in my rural market town this weekend. Believe me, I've not seen anything like it before, even at the height of the tourist season when we are full to overflowing.

I don't think everyone out of my area is a lowlife, I really don't - I've lived in all sorts of places, including different areas of London. It is noticeable when we have strangers visiting in high numbers here.

Yes, the rubbish bins are overflowing, yes the streets are now covered in dogshit, people's front yards/gardens are being pissed in and one of my fb friends has found a couple of turds just by her wall - our public loos are closed, obviously.

This is what is happening this weekend. This is my experience, what I have seen with my own eyes, I am not exaggerating. I really haven't seen anything like it here.

When lockdown ends, or when they allow tourist areas to reopen, pubs and restaurants reopen, campsites etc then tourists are very welcome. At the moment where their facilities are severely curtailed, they have a negative effect on us, and so yes, I'd like people to stay at home.

justasking111 · 24/05/2020 14:28

Our councils really do need to open up the loos, deal with the rubbish now. Open up car parks if England is allowed to move freely then the councils are obliged to deal with it imo.

Interesting article on BBC site today.
