Are some of the most ignorant people on the planet???!!!

I have just been torn a new bum hole on FB, for adding some perspective to a very angry post on FB. FB post went something like this:

"300+ more fucking dead today. When will these fucking idiots learn that they havd to stay in fucking doors? I had a go at atleast 10 people in Tescos today (she didn't explain why) The longer they are stupid the longer this will go on..... Etc... Etc"

Lots of people went on: "I agree hun" "OMG so totally with you etc"

I went on and screenshotted Prof Sikoras tweet about week on week reductions and to say there is light at the end of the tunnel, chin up etc.

Well.......!!!!! The abuse!!!!!!!!

I'm dancing on people's graves... How can you be excited? I bet you are one of the c*nts going out and seeing family? (I have ONCE at my Nan's funeral) I am disgusting human being. How can I be happy that only 300 odd have died....you get the picture.

Am I wrong to find perspective/relief/optimism that the numbers are going down, or should I be wallowing and consigned to months and months of doom for the foreseeable??

@TheGreatWave no I'm not wrong. It may be a supportive thread for some but it's a nasty little place, some of the prolific posters on there are posting constantly on other threads, screeching that anyone who just wants to follow guidelines - regardless of whether they comment on others behaviour or not are "dementors". Pps on there are literally all over the coronavirus boards calling other pps wankers/dementors, calling the police "the pigs" Hmm. They are loving the drama of it all and it's sick.

Some of the content is so contradictory. And just clearly doesn't know her friend. The friend didn't offer her a drink but the DH came home and did - could've caused some tension there, I wouldn't be happy. Their teenage son was "white faced". She's so wrapped up in herself when actually he might have just realised it will be row central later on.

You really don't pitch up unannounced and then boast about it on the internet. That's horrible.

alreadytaken · 21/05/2020 19:50

hospital admissions went up in England today - so you can stop being quite as optimistic.

Russellbrandshair · 21/05/2020 19:54

Yes God forbid anyone have any optimism for the future!! How dare we- we should all be miserable all the time ffs 😳

DownADirtRoad · 21/05/2020 19:58

Regardless of the topic, do you really think you can change someone’s views when they’re clearly ranting? Why engage? You knew that you’d get the reaction that you got so I’m sure you were not disappointed. I think if people hold a different view to you and are explaining it in a measured way, you can discuss it. Otherwise it’s not worth bothering, but that depends on what you want to get out of the discussion of course.

What a pointless post.

JohnFinlaysNewTeeth · 21/05/2020 20:08

If being a dementor is calling people out for their shitty, selfish and irresponsible behaviour then so be it. But when you witness an 8 year old boy with Down syndrome slipping into depression because of lockdown, because he isn’t allowed to go to school, because he isn’t allowed to see his grandma, because he’s not allowed to see friends and because daily he has to witness the houses in the street flouting rules with 12 kids playing the street and not a care in the fucking world for them... I’m a dementor. But I hope to god none of you ever have to go through anything like that.

Whattodowhattodooo · 21/05/2020 20:16

@DownADirtRoad

I honestly didn't expect that response. I really didn't. I thought I would get along the lines of "thanks for that, just really difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel, especially with the morons in Tesco today" or words to that effect. Didn't expect to be told I'm dancing on graves!!

I want everyone's to stay home (as much as they can) I'm shielding so I feel like we will be in forever right now ... I get why people are frustrated , when I see huge groups of people on the playing field by me and stories of people flocking to beaches etc I get upset and disheartened because I just want this to be over and I don't want anymore people to die , it's upsetting that people don't care who they put at risk.. However I really dislike this bullying behaviour that has come about , it's horrid , people have been shamed on social for excerising when it's allowed, people are shamed for not clapping (when a lot of key works hate it anyway) and there's a lot of venom towards anyone that isn't strictly staying in usually by people also going out 😕, it's awful and completely against the all in this together ethos and the kindness , compassion and community that should be happening (and is happening in a large scale which is wonderful) x

I think you were a bit naive then. Lesson learnt maybe.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 21/05/2020 20:21

Dont comment on ignorant facebook posts, it is not worth your time, imo

Whattodowhattodooo · 21/05/2020 20:23

@DownADirtRoad

Absolutely.

I’m starting to get tired of it as well and have unfollowed some of my local groups on FB because it was just constant whining- anybody seen out doing anything is ‘breaking the rules’ and the ‘longer people behave like this the longer we stay in lockdown’ about people going out sunbathing /picnics once it was announced it’s okay to do so- they don’t seem to realise that the plan is to gradually ease out of lockdown and that we can’t have a super-strict lockdown until a vaccine is found.

Somebody innocently asked whether the toilets in our town centre were open and got a load of angry responses. Some people just love to jump on every last thing for some reason.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 21/05/2020 20:33

A work colleague has decided to see her son and grandchildren. I think she should, they are all healthy and young and sensible. She’s just posted an old crowded beach shot of the ‘you are killing us all kind’
I just rolled my eyes. Some people are not bright.

happyhappyhour · 21/05/2020 20:39

What are the new rules regarding beaches? One photo is doing the rounds locally of a nearby large beach- to be fair it’s busy but everyone is spaced out and clearly Following the social distancing.

Whattodowhattodooo · 21/05/2020 20:44

@happyhappyhour

Im just up the road from Brighton and I saw a photo from the beach yesterday. All spaced out and people were asking why were they there! Because they are ALLOWED too!....... If they are all from the same household of course!

This is my MIL.
She goes on and on about staying home and staying safe, doing strict lockdown etc yet she’s not isolated at all and has been here there and every where ‘enjoying the empty world’ 🤦🏼‍♀️
Also complaining that she can’t see our son. She’s deluded.

LilacTree1 · 21/05/2020 20:49

NaturalBlondeYeahRight

Love your username.

I think people like that are the ones the government are saying want lockdown- they’re not actually following it so they see select bits they think are great.

Rosebel · 21/05/2020 21:11

I don't think anyone is unhappy that the death rate is dropping. It's obviously a good thing.
However it's a bit early to celebrate. People are returning to work, not to mention crowding the beaches and parks so the death rate probably will go back up. People keep criticizing the government for getting it wrong but then don't follow the rules.
Everyone is sick of lockdown but that isn't an excuse to break the rules.

RunningNinja79 · 21/05/2020 21:14

This is precisely why I have left facebook. I did snooze some people, but decided it would be easier to leave for a bit. Sometimes I think I may have a look, but then I manage to stay away. It's much easier that way.

FuckThisWind · 21/05/2020 21:19

I'm not 'screaming' for lockdown to continue. But using my common sense for my particular situation. I'm in the vulnerable group. My Mum is in the extremely vulnerable group. There is a bloody good reason that most of the world has gone into lockdown. And we still have the 2nd and 3rd waves to come. Nobody really knows how this virus will pan out in the end. Realistically? I've made an informed choice to change my lifestyle. And I know 3 people who have "died before their time" so crack on and do what works for you. As most of us will. Unfollow people on FB if it makes you feel better.

happyhappyhour · 21/05/2020 21:47

@Rosebel but people are now allowed to go to beaches and parks so they’re not breaking any rules? We are beginning to ease gradually out of lockdown as was always the plan- there’s no vaccine so the virus isn’t going anywhere so we are going to have see how we can live with it in the meantime. People are following the new guidelines from government but still being called selfish idiots and rule-breakers over social media.

LilacTree1 · 21/05/2020 21:48

Short piece on lockdown

Don’t be fooled by the title

30-59 age group included

Think a lot of people claim support but break it

AuntieStella · 21/05/2020 21:54

I think that further easing of restrictions before test/track-trace is working properly rather than being a glimmer in Boris's eye is just plain wrong as it's unnecessarily risky.

I don't think I'm ignorant - indeed there really is an enormous body of informed opinion (from many international experts) stating very simiiar things, and I really don't thing they're all all ignorant either.

So I can't agree with the opening post.

theThreeofWeevils · 21/05/2020 22:00

@LilacTree1, that's enough to make Sturgeon spontaneously combust. Something I would pay good money to see.
