Are some of the most ignorant people on the planet???!!!

I have just been torn a new bum hole on FB, for adding some perspective to a very angry post on FB. FB post went something like this:

"300+ more fucking dead today. When will these fucking idiots learn that they havd to stay in fucking doors? I had a go at atleast 10 people in Tescos today (she didn't explain why) The longer they are stupid the longer this will go on..... Etc... Etc"

Lots of people went on: "I agree hun" "OMG so totally with you etc"

I went on and screenshotted Prof Sikoras tweet about week on week reductions and to say there is light at the end of the tunnel, chin up etc.

Well.......!!!!! The abuse!!!!!!!!

I'm dancing on people's graves... How can you be excited? I bet you are one of the c*nts going out and seeing family? (I have ONCE at my Nan's funeral) I am disgusting human being. How can I be happy that only 300 odd have died....you get the picture.

Am I wrong to find perspective/relief/optimism that the numbers are going down, or should I be wallowing and consigned to months and months of doom for the foreseeable??

I thought the rule was you could only go to beaches and parks if you kept 2 metres apart. People weren't doing that (from the pictures I saw) but I could be wrong on that.
Seems pointless distancing at the shops/work/schools if at the first glimmer of sunshine we're going to sit shoulder to shoulder at the beach. I don't like Boris or any of the government but I get annoyed when they give advice that is ignored and then get blamed because people can't follow a,simple set of instructions.

MargotB7 · 21/05/2020 22:23

I just don't get the parks and beaches yet but it's my choice not to do it. I wouldn't find it enjoyable. Yet I'd love to have a coffee with a friend on her garden. She's asked me but I've declined. I wouldn't need to enter her house as only live 2 minutes away and would take my own drink and we aren't huggy at all.

RoseAndRose · 21/05/2020 22:23

The Independent is reporting that Sweden, which did not lock down now has the highest number of deaths per capita.

It was a bit of an outlier with its approach, and now it seems that stance may nit have paid off

ITonyah · 21/05/2020 22:24

Stop looking for people to fight with on FB.

justasking111 · 21/05/2020 22:32

The independent is wrong Belgium has suffered terribly. Sweden 384 per m. Belgium 793 per m.

WaterOffADucksCrack · 21/05/2020 22:41

The people who get me are the ones who say "I went to X location today and there were so many people there! Don't they realise there's a lockdown?!" And I sit there thinking ummm you were there too!

However the key difference is I think it. If you hunt for fights on Facebook you're no better!

LilacTree1 · 21/05/2020 22:46

ThreeofWeevils “ that's enough to make Sturgeon spontaneously combust. Something I would pay good money to see.”

Do you mean the Oxford epidemiologist or the breaking lockdown survey?

LilacTree1 · 21/05/2020 22:47

Rose do you have a link?

That would be a very wrong article.

LilacTree1 · 21/05/2020 22:48

“ I thought the rule was you could only go to beaches and parks if you kept 2 metres apart”

This is a guideline, it’s not written into the Coronavirus legislation.

expat101 · 21/05/2020 23:10

I have stopped commenting on Fb group posts outside of my page, with my name/account. Keep a separate FB account with an alternative name for those that I do reply on.

As you have found, you can be perfectly polite and someone has to have a go or get narky or an argument springs up between others and it goes on and on. There are some nutters out there.

Mtbf · 21/05/2020 23:21

Facebook was dreamt up for Narcissists.

Ignore.

Rosebel · 22/05/2020 01:01

Okay fair enough. I was obviously mistaken. Still don't think it's a good idea though but just my opinion.

Nicolasix · 22/05/2020 03:54

@MintyMabel not a key worker but work for an organisation where people are. Symptoms of those who have worked with Covid-19 patients are vivid nightmares, crying for hours on end, severe mental health issues & exhaustion. PTSD basically with an extremely experienced workforce, we’re worried . Our health & social care professionals who have been in hotspots are mentally & physically exhausted, & worried about failing if there is a second wave.

But please mock them some more..

I’ve been at home for a week or so before lockdown & guess what, I’d do it for longer to relieve the long term stress on my colleagues.

On a practical, selfish note I’d also like for us to be able to do things safely & if that means I don’t go out for another month or so fine. This half arsed approach will just delay restrictions longer.

Hannahmates · 22/05/2020 05:01

If your child was one of the hundreds dead then you won't be feeling relief now would you? You sound insensitive and ignorant. Stay inside as much as possible and do your part to stop the spread.

understandmenow · 22/05/2020 06:12

I hear you OP! Witnessed a massive rant on FB about a local beach.

The ranter had no clue of the rules and clearly thought she owned the beach.

Dementors indeed.

Whattodowhattodooo · 22/05/2020 07:24

@AuntieStella

I don't consider you ignorant. You have made an informed decision based on evidence you have read/seen. What I find ignorant is having a go at people with some form of perspective, and the absolute refusel to only look at the situation with doom, gloom and shit from The Sun as opposed to actually looking at the bigger picture.

@Hannahmates

I am staying in doors, and my grandmother is one of the 30,000+ dead. Hardly insensitive.

The pandemic is a God-given gift for many people wearing itchy hair-shirts!

ChurchOfWokeApostate · 22/05/2020 08:09

Yet I'd love to have a coffee with a friend on her garden. She's asked me but I've declined

Why? You’re allowed to visit one other household now, as long as you don’t go in the house.
So perfectly okay to sit in a friends garden 2 metres apart.

User8008135 · 22/05/2020 08:42

Do they work in tesco? Otherwise what makes them more special then everyone else that had to go? Hypocrite much.

alloverthisnow · 22/05/2020 11:55

Whattodowhattodooo

They did have an extreme reaction, I think social media amplifies these things. But we are in an unprecedented situation and feelings are running high.

Re: dementors - sometimes it seems to be not what they are saying, but the way they are saying it. They aren't expressing it reasonably at all. As in it's ok to say you aren't sure when we can go on holiday again in the near future without the chance of it getting cancelled, but not to screech that we can never go on holiday again.

Re: anti-dementors - I liked the first thread, but the second one became a bit anti-lockdown. I am trying to be positive about things but I am worried, mostly as I don't think we are doing enough testing, contact tracing etc and we are opening up too soon compared to other countries which have lower death rates/and are doing more. I don't want to lockdown forever of course (it is driving me up the wall in some ways and I feel so much for anyone who is suffering with their mental health, kids who are desperate to get back to school, anyone who has a business, anyone who has lost their jobs - I am one of the people who has lost their job due to this and it is crap and I get it), and I can see the issues it is causing. I wish the people who don't want the lockdown would put their energy into pushing for contact tracing, more PPE, wearing masks to limit transmission etc - all the things that will control the virus and get us out of lockdown sooner.

Aridane · 22/05/2020 13:46

@LilacTree1

Sweden has been doing fairly appallingly for some while - 8th highest death rate in the world on a per capita basis (per million). It’s only more recently on a WEEKLY basis it has topped the league tables

Never understood why Sweden has been held up as a model

Aridane · 22/05/2020 13:47

@AuntieStella

I agree
