I think I'd rather stay at home

Not if you aren't shitting and pissing there. If you aren't putting a frivolous strain on already stressed local resources dealing with considerable social exclusion challenges during a pandemic.
You don't see the problem? Great. Go ahead. You couldn't possibly be creating a problem, could you?

HeatherIV · 24/05/2020 13:19

I know people hiring air bnb for the day so they can use the loo.

FortunesFavour · 24/05/2020 13:26

@Alsohuman

I often disagree with your posts but on this thread I could not agree with you more.

The behaviour of local councils keeping loos closed despite the public being told they can travel is negligent. It is fully foreseeable that keeping amenities closed while people can lawfully travel to popular locations will lead to hygiene problems and associated health risks.

Those moaning about the grim consequences need to take it up with their councils and demand the facilities are opened. In the event that a local or a visitor does contract eg typhoid as a result of the council’s intransigence, the council would be liable at law for allowing the completely foreseeable al-fresco shitting to arise when the solution is clear - open the loos.

bellinisurge · 24/05/2020 14:35

You really don't see the problem with rocking up somewhere that said clearly it wasn't prepared yet? And then blaming it for not being prepared for you to do something you could easily do in your local area? You don't see the problem?🤦‍♀️
You think the government has such an all powerful grasp on this situation that it commands Wherever-On-Sea to have its loos sparkling for the arrival of its overlords?
You think Wales, for example, should forget about devolution and open its beaches for a bunch of other people who want to pop in for a bit?

Alsohuman · 24/05/2020 14:54

Wales can do as it pleases, that’s the entire point of devolution. Meanwhile, here in England, an announcement was made a fortnight ago that the population could legitimately travel wherever it chooses.

Anyone with half a brain could see that a lot of people who had essentially been under house arrest for eight weeks would go to the seaside or a beauty spot for the day. Anyone with half a brain could also see those people would need toilets and the result of not opening them would be exactly what’s happened.

The class system in the 1920s is about as relevant as the price of fish.

bellinisurge · 24/05/2020 15:18

But people have been bitching about not being able to get to Welsh beaches. That is, non-Welsh residents.
It just shows what happens when you spout incoherent suggestions and expect everyone's version of "common sense " to coincide. And of course expect the service industry to serve you despite it explaining that it can't right now.

SerenDippitty · 24/05/2020 15:24

Welsh people can't get to Welsh beaches either unless they live near them.

bellinisurge · 24/05/2020 15:29

Yes but non-Welsh residents have been complaining about being denied access to the same beaches. "But dahling I have a Sammah home on the Llyn Peninsulah, dahling"

LudaMusser · 24/05/2020 15:29

Same place as normal, the sea lol

The beaches were never closed. I'd say (on the topic of the thread) that it's more a case of accepting the reality that people are going to need to take a crap somewhere!

SerenDippitty · 24/05/2020 17:09

Well they should take dog poo bags then so they can clear up after themselves and take it home with them.

Are we the only people who can hold their bladders for more than a few hours?
We go to the beach regularly.
An hour each way in the car, and at least a few hours at the beach.
We make sure we go to the loo just before we leave.

kakak · 30/06/2020 00:24

@mogtheexcellent that is revolting using your beach hut as an area to do their business 🤮

popsydoodle4444 · 30/06/2020 01:19

@MrsRogerLima

I was once in Skegness and walking across the dunes to take my kid to the loo and saw a woman peeing in the dunes. She was literally less than a 2 minute walk to the loos in the big car park next to the beach

ExhaustedBeyondBelief · 30/06/2020 01:20

On the beach

In the sea

In peoples gardens

In take away food containers

Disgusting "humans"
