I think I'd rather stay at home

@Aretheystillasleepbob have you ever been to skeg?

You see this behaviour when all the bloody facilities ARE open! I believe that poster unfortunately. It can be grim.

SoupDragon · 21/05/2020 08:24

We'd planned to go down to the coast to see my mum and probably just wave up at her balcony. However, once we realised there would be no toilets we ditched the idea.

Rosegoldglass · 21/05/2020 08:25

Beach toilets open here in my town on north east coast.
Toilet attendant was posted there all day ensuring social distancing was maintained.
The queue for the fish and chip shop was an entirely different matter though.

MrsRogerLima · 21/05/2020 08:25

@SnuggyBuggy no it doesn't 🙄 it has been many years since we pumped sewage into the ocean.

KingOfDogShite · 21/05/2020 08:26

Haven’t you seen Kevin and Perry go large?

CakeCakeCake21 · 21/05/2020 08:27

I was at a beach 15 min drive from my house yesterday and the toilets were open, as was the beach cafe (for takeaway) and an icecream van.

maddy68 · 21/05/2020 08:27

Do not leave home without these. www.purpleturtle.co.uk/travel-john-3-pack-for-men-women-children-259.html

These have saved my life on many occasions. You unroll the "bag". Wee into in and or turns solid (like a nappy). Then you put it in a bin.

mummydoris2006 · 21/05/2020 08:28

@Aretheystillasleepbob I posted about human excrement on the beach and have no reason whatsoever to lie Hmm. It has also been reported about as one persons dog rolled in it Angry. Other posters close to beaches also reported the same

00deed1988 · 21/05/2020 08:28

We went to Folkestone yesterday.

Before anyone criticises, we avoided the ridiculously packed sandy beach and found a lovely empty spot on the stone beach with no one within about 20 metres of us.

But they had their public toilets open. For us it was a bit of a walk as it was closer to the sandy beach but we told the kids to tell us the moment they felt they needed to go so one of us could take them.

I just read an article that southend had their toilets open too. So I guess it is hit and miss if any are open!

SnuggyBuggy · 21/05/2020 08:28

@MrRogerLima so is all that guilt stuff about tampons and wet wipes ending up on beaches just bollocks?

YouJustDoYou · 21/05/2020 08:29

The public toilets

aliceinsunderland44 · 21/05/2020 08:29

I posted about this recently. As someone who suffers from IBS I've been really worried about the lack of open toilets and there is no way I would be travelling to anywhere without accessible public toilets right now. I can't believe people are actually crapping on the beach.

I sort of think that toilets should be reopened purely because without them there is a risk of other infection spreading. But on the other hand they are just going to be another hub of contagion for covid-19 with all of the surfaces and enclosed space.

This is why people should just stay closer to home.

lynsey91 · 21/05/2020 08:32

Not everyone out for the day needs a loo. If they are likely to they should not be going.

Anyone weeing or pooing on the beach is a disgusting excuse for a human. My dogs are not allowed on beaches in the summer even though I always clean up after them and yet people do this. I would be willing to bet too that there were dirty nappies left on the beach as even in non corona times there often are

Elderflower14 · 21/05/2020 08:33

My son is in Thanet and is staying at home.... The local FB groups are full of stories of people deficating in public... This is a beach two miles from his flat... It makes me sad and angry in equal measure... Why can't people stay at home... I've not seen my boy since Dec 27th last year.... I want to see him and if the CV rate goes up which its bound to then I won't....

to wonder where all the beach revellers are toileting?
aliceinsunderland44 · 21/05/2020 08:33

@maddy68 they look good but where would you use them?! The presumably you need a secluded spot lol

HoneyBee03 · 21/05/2020 08:34

We have loads of huge, popular beaches nearby and only one has a toilet. You just pee in the sea.

Alsohuman · 21/05/2020 08:38

If some councils can open their toilets, they all can. They’ve been closed for nearly nine weeks so they could invest some of those savings in additional cleaning now. All we need is an outbreak of typhoid to go with the Covid. Not opening them is completely irresponsible.

Trumpton · 21/05/2020 08:40

@aliceinsunderland44
Just a thought but if people are driving to the beach then could a nappy bucket and the pads that @maddy68 linked to be used in the car ?

SnuggyBuggy · 21/05/2020 08:41

I thi k the car bucket will probably become a thing soon.

Campervan69 · 21/05/2020 08:44

We have a campervan so can go to the beach and be completely self sufficient. It's really come into its own these last few weeks. However the beach we went to yesterday had a large supermarket nearby whose loos were open.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 21/05/2020 08:46

dd wants to go to a sandy beach for her birthday, we might have to make do with a shingly beach

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 21/05/2020 08:47

who wants to work as a public toilet cleaner?

Patienceisvirtuous · 21/05/2020 08:48

I live 15 mins walk from beach. We went yesterday for a couple of hours. 3 yo DS wore a nappy, I just didn’t have a drink til we got home 😄

Alsohuman · 21/05/2020 08:49

who wants to work as a public toilet cleaner?

The ones who are doing it in the places that have opened them at a guess.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 21/05/2020 08:50

but the added risk of the virus, which is transmittable through stools,
i hope they are plenty of PPE
somehow i am not sure
