Neighbour talking on phone in garden all day and taking calls on speaker phone

Since the lockdown the neighbour has decided to sit in the garden and work. He talks all his call in the garden, talking loudly. Its 6:30 pm and he is still on his phone. I can hear him in my living room! I can also hear all the the participants on the phone! It starts at 10 am and goes on till 7 pm. I cant keep the patio doors open or the noise will be horrendous! Talking to him wont work, they are not the type you can reason with. Its driving me mad! Any suggestions? Maybe I should play music, loudly!!

@oralengineer I might invest in windchimes

I have registered a complaint with Greenwich Council as cant take it anymore

Your complaint won’t go anywhere; he isn’t doing anything wrong.

Hingeandbracket · 21/05/2020 11:34

I hate these cunts that do all their calls on speaker - it's bad enough in an office but anywhere else is worse. Two fuckers were doing in the outside seating area of our local farmshop cafe once - so we all had the benefit of hearing about progress on their IT network project - twats.

Hingeandbracket · 21/05/2020 11:46

Maybe your neighbour is using a laptop while he is on the phone or conference calling so needs speaker phone
Neither of these necessitates use of speakers.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 21/05/2020 11:50

@Hingeandbracket exctly, why cant he use headphones and talk softly? So inconsiderate

@MeridianB you are right! I seem to be surrounded by them

Play that song that goes 'shut up just shut up shut up' think it's by the black eyed peas

You have two choices: deal with it, or compete.

I’ve no doubt it’s annoying for you, but the council won’t get involved. He’s working in his own garden during normal hours; he isn’t doing anything wrong.

To be honest, it’s most likely the council will admonish you for wasting their time.

DH is a landscape gardener. He owns a chainsaw, several very noisy strimmers, a petrol driven powerwasher which is VERY loud, a cement mixer, a power saw, four lawnmowers, a leaf blower, a site radio with a VERY deep bass and a pneumatic drill.

Are you my neighbours? You forgot to mention the motorbikes.

And breathe.

Anyway the trombone idea made me LOL.

Blueuggboots · 21/05/2020 12:01

I can tell you that Driving home for Christmas on repeat gets pretty fucking waring very quickly!!!

StCharlotte · 21/05/2020 12:03

Given there's no love lost between you anyway, I would just be yelling "SHUT THE FUCK UP". A lot.

Auldspinster · 21/05/2020 12:04

I had student neighbours who had sing songs with guitars in our shared garden. Playing Sonic Youth at their most discordant did the trick.

GeronimoDiego · 21/05/2020 12:06

Oh I think some power tools are in order. Or take a blender into the garden, run a long cable and turn it on each time he goes on speaker.

Washinglinewench29 · 21/05/2020 12:06

Baby shark...Loud and on repeat

bythehairsonmychinichinchin · 21/05/2020 12:07

Are you playing the music in your house? If play it in your garden, or put the speaker in the window with the window open it won’t be loud enough outside to disturb him

Vampyress · 21/05/2020 12:08

Haha I am so glad I am not guilty of doing this to people. Conference calls wearing my headphones in my dining room with the windows wide open but the dining room faces the front so hopefully not pissing off neighbours!

GeronimoDiego · 21/05/2020 12:12

Perhaps music is not annoying enough.

drayco · 21/05/2020 12:19

Rammstein would keep me in the garden bloody love them.

Try Taylor Swift!

Jonsnowsghost · 21/05/2020 12:27

I have just the song...Talk! By the 1975...it repeats "why'd you talk so loud?" Play that on repeat at full volume and he might get the hint Grin
Failing that another vote for Steel Panther

Fairyliz · 21/05/2020 12:29

What’s the difference between this and my neighbours who let their children play in the garden for 10 hours a day shrieking and screaming the whole time.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 21/05/2020 12:46

@Fairyliz I had that too! Its very annoying....I just need to move once this CV19 blows over. People suck

Apologies if I've missed it but have you actually said anything to him about it? I'm loving the power tools, chas and Dave, Rammstein and Eminem suggestions, but have you popped your head over and said, "Hiya Bob, I don't know if you're aware but the whole neighbourhood can hear your confidential work conversations. You might want to keep it down. Umma known GDPR and all that stuff eh?"

FeelinFagin · 21/05/2020 12:51

Autocorrect fail. "Ya know, GDPR and all that"
