Neighbour talking on phone in garden all day and taking calls on speaker phone

Since the lockdown the neighbour has decided to sit in the garden and work. He talks all his call in the garden, talking loudly. Its 6:30 pm and he is still on his phone. I can hear him in my living room! I can also hear all the the participants on the phone! It starts at 10 am and goes on till 7 pm. I cant keep the patio doors open or the noise will be horrendous! Talking to him wont work, they are not the type you can reason with. Its driving me mad! Any suggestions? Maybe I should play music, loudly!!

If you have asked though and he's being a dick, I vote fart noises. YouTube have some crackers to play loudly against his fence.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/05/2020 12:56

I second Taylor Swift. Shake It Off to begin with - it's so jaunty Grin

Lochroy · 21/05/2020 13:00

OMG. I do not understand why. People don't use their headphones!! I would shout something loudly like 'Hey Bob' (most important to use his name first so everyone on the call knows he is the person being addressed) 'it's bad enough when I have to listen to you shagging at night, but please don't interrupt my daytime as well'.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 21/05/2020 13:04

I can tell you that Driving home for Christmas on repeat gets pretty fucking waring very quickly!!!

Oh yes! Who doesn’t love listening to Christmas songs in summer? 😁

AHobbyaweek · 21/05/2020 13:11

Please find out his name and company and we can spam him with how loud he is

TomNook · 21/05/2020 13:36

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 21/05/2020 13:42

Set your radio alarm up in your garden, as close to loudmouth as you can.
set the alarm to go off (on beeping tone, not radio) in a few minutes time.
Go for a walk/supermarket/whatever

Mi radio alarm sounds for an hour, getting progressively louder. Really pissed off my neighbours when I forgot to disable it when I went on holiday.

Unrelated, but I got very curious about an alarm going off the other day; then realised it was the digital thermometer in my mouth Shock

rosiethehen · 21/05/2020 14:33

Oh god, we've got one of these. We know all about his business, individuals work performances, his divorce, holiday plans, tax returns and plans for the future. He goes into his hot tub every evening and all weekend and phones anyone and everyone. His voice is loud enough to raise the dead.

Bbang · 21/05/2020 14:40

Urghh my neighbour does this, he makes a phone call to what seems like every member of his huge family every single day on loudspeaker.

He stands outside or in his kitchen with the door wide open moaning about me coming and going (I’m a key worker working odd shifts) and his relentless racist tirades about my children who are biracial.

Idiot man, he knows I can hear him as well Hmm

BobbinThreadbare123 · 21/05/2020 14:47

My neighbours are dicks and spent yesterday permitting their grandkids (who should not be there - lockdown) to screech all day. They yell too; can't just talk normally. They kept us inside for the whole summer last year. We sweated inside because of their noise. Not this time! I'm going to start playing Mr Bungle, Primus and Fugazi as loud as I fucking can. I am WFH and I am sick to death of listening to them every day it isn't raining!

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 21/05/2020 15:02

@BobbinThreadbare123 I feel your pain. Annoy the hell out of them.

I've got a whole close of noisy neighbours. They seem to think that because their gardens back onto allotments, no one minds them yelling and cackling and playing loud music ALL day.

Thing is, noise goes sideways as well, (though surely they know this, as they can hear each other), but also allotments are not designed as sound barriers, I can hear them 3 plots away.

Windyatthebeach · 21/05/2020 15:32

Op I have just been teaching my very loud dpuppy to bark. She is very good. We can call round and she can bark over his fence.
I feel your pain.
We had a neighbour opposite who washed his car every single day at 8am. 7 days a week Jet wash. Buckets banging. Cars on /off the drive.. Even washed it Xmas morning and the day after he had it delivered brand new to his house.
Every
Single
Day.
Never once saw him wash his dw's car though..

BobbinThreadbare123 · 21/05/2020 15:38

Ohhh my neighbour is a jet washer too. Even in the rain. His patio, not his car. FFS!

AriadnesFilament · 21/05/2020 15:40

Record his calls then play them back through your speakers on a very slight time delay at a nice loud volume so he’s got his own voice coming from your garden constantly???

Cherrysoup · 21/05/2020 15:46

Raise the volume, do it, OP!

Helena79 · 21/05/2020 15:59

Turn a sprinkler on and let the kids have a water fight. He’ll soon retreat lol

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 21/05/2020 16:38

@Helena79 nothings working, hes talking over my music, then I watered my plants, I have then in plastic tubs, he talked over it too. He is still out there talking loudly

We have neighbours like this too.

They were shouting 'love you, mwah mwah' at the end of a zoom call and my autistic DD18 shouted 'love you too' - I told her off but it did shut them up for a while!

musicalmrs · 21/05/2020 16:55

@UnshakenNeedsStirring I completely sympathise. Mid terrace here too, and we have incredibly noisy and inconsiderate neighbours. We were hoping to have moved house before the summer madness kicked in, but we're currently stuck! I'm sympathetic and understand they have to be able to make some noise - as all of us do in our terraced row - but they seem to make enough for everyone and then some, all of the time! Calls, screaming at each other, screaming children (rarely just normal child volume) etc..

This thread has thoroughly cheered me up and given me some excellent ideas though - thank you! I think I'll go for the strumming, classical music, and loud instrumental practice in the garden. Something really annoying maybe..

Fancy learning a loud instrument OP?! With an annoying baby shark like tune, or just really out of tune..

GADDay · 21/05/2020 16:58

When my neighbour annoys me I play Fuck you by Lilly Allen

That made me laugh very loudly GrinGrinGrin
