Neighbour talking on phone in garden all day and taking calls on speaker phone

Since the lockdown the neighbour has decided to sit in the garden and work. He talks all his call in the garden, talking loudly. Its 6:30 pm and he is still on his phone. I can hear him in my living room! I can also hear all the the participants on the phone! It starts at 10 am and goes on till 7 pm. I cant keep the patio doors open or the noise will be horrendous! Talking to him wont work, they are not the type you can reason with. Its driving me mad! Any suggestions? Maybe I should play music, loudly!!

He's very inconsiderate your neighbour isn't he OP? I mean, how are you supposed to get your phone sex line business up and running while he is whittering on about the Swindon office not making their targets last month....oh excuse me

" hello again, big boy. What am I wearing this evening? Well, it's been very, very, hot today............"

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/05/2020 19:52

It sounds marginally better than my neighbours. They are in the garden every day, with several of their mates, swearing loudly from 9am til about 6pm, day drinking as well, and cheering every time the baby tries to stand up.

I'd swap that for your neighbors work calls.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 20/05/2020 19:53

He has to work from home.

Exactly! So he should be conducting business calls in the privacy of his own home and respecting his client’s confidentiality. I’m sure they don’t want neighbours overhearing their business discussions. Very unprofessional.

Bellabelles · 20/05/2020 19:54

Type up and print out formal minutes of a call and post them through his door - write private and confidential in bold red capitals at the top. He might get the message!

JellyfishandShells · 20/05/2020 19:54

We live in a solid Victorian terrace in a London and can’t usually hear the neighbours either side, even though the man on one side has a naturally loud and carrying voice.

He was working today in what he has just made into a study at the back of the house when I was in the garden weeding and I think I will go and tell him later that he would be well advised to shut the window or make calls in another room. The window faces up into a side return and it acted like an sound box.

Not that he is bothering me, I’m glad he is employed ( he’s a consultant on a contract ) , but it was very sensitive info about a very sensitive industry and it would easily have been heard for 6 houses around !

I’m not going to do anything with the info but I can’t speak for all around .......

LilacTree1 · 20/05/2020 19:54

I would talk yo him

And to his clients

I know a lot of people are doing this - I hear them when I walk round the neighbourhood. It’s insane.

It’s had the advantage of making me think, it’s not so bad to have no outdoor space!

MeridianB · 20/05/2020 19:55

Blackheath has its fair share of twats, OP Grin

Hopingtobeamum · 20/05/2020 19:56

Buy two megaphones and have conversations using them 😂😂😂

MammytoElla · 20/05/2020 20:03

I was going to say play some death metal!
I love heavy metal but some death metal is a bit much for me! He'll love it!!

violetbunny · 20/05/2020 20:05

I've been taking occasional calls in the garden while working from home, but only for a short time and I have the decency to wear a headset at least so no one has to hear the people on the other end. (Half the time there are so many people on the call that they're doing most of the talking).

Chilver · 20/05/2020 20:06

Apparently if you buy something called squelcher it blocks all mobile phone signals within a 2 or 5m radius (according to my DH)... perhaps try that by hiding it close to him behind your fence and presto, problem solved Grin

Grumpylockeddownwoman · 20/05/2020 20:09

@MeridianB yes me obviously!

mouse70 · 20/05/2020 20:10

May have been mentioned before. Can you identify who he works for and contact them as there could be an element of lack of confidentiality and his employers would not be happy that someone else can hear all the details of his phone calls.

Theweasleytwins · 20/05/2020 20:13

Have you a child with a recorder? Worst noise ever

Wheresthesanitygone · 20/05/2020 20:14

Our neighbour is on her phone a lot in the garden, I’ve just started shouting loudly to Alexa to turn up louder every time she does it, then if I can still hear her I shout it again until the music drowns her out. I give it long enough for her to finish then turn it down again. Hopefully she’ll start to get the message soon

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/05/2020 20:14

How about downloading some embarrassing noises and playing then really loud. Farting, sex noises, screaming for help.

Or, find out where he works and email his boss with some comments he's made and ask if they are supposed to be public knowledge.

viewfromthecouch · 20/05/2020 20:16

I would just turn on your new lawnmower whenever he's annoying you with his loud calls. Don't actually have to mow, just turn it on until he goes in. Each and every time.

Theweasleytwins · 20/05/2020 20:18

Play Eminem Lose yourself and rap Along😋

DateLoaf · 20/05/2020 20:19

" excuse me but have we all bought a ticket to sit in your FUCKING OFFICE ??? ‘’

Grin This thread is awesome I love the comebacks

Roselilly36 · 20/05/2020 20:20

Oh no! Awful selfish behaviour, some good suggestions on here to remedy, can I add the birdie song, laughing Policeman and shut up a your face to the music play list!

Musmerian · 20/05/2020 20:20

@rosesandcashmere. My life has changed and I wink from home. I do it at the dining room table not the garden.

Musmerian · 20/05/2020 20:20

Work! Although have been known to wink too.

oralengineer · 20/05/2020 20:26

Our next door neighbour phones round her friends incessantly, always has done. Some conversations have been hilarious, she wasn’t invited to a local wedding a couple of years ago, she spent the morning of the wedding phoning round looking for someone to play with, it turned out everyone else had been invited to the wedding apart from her. Even we had been invited to the evening do and I’ve never met the couple! May be something to do with sleeping her way round the village married men. I suspect everyone had been told not to tell her.
Lockdown has been horrendous particularly because she starts every sentence with “and erm”. The conversations are very one sided, she doesn’t let them get a word in edgeways.
Added to this she has friends round to sit in the garden with her, from the start of lockdown.
DH is gradually loosing the will to live and the lawn is being mowed daily. He also runs his motorbike (old triumph that you can hear half a mile away). All to no avail. He also encourages DS to kick a football against the fence. I just play music. I think I may put the wind chimes out again. I found them during a clear out.

megletthesecond · 20/05/2020 20:33

I love hearing this kind of thing Blush. I'm incredibly nosy and judgy.

Chatons · 20/05/2020 20:39
