To start webcam modelling even though I have radical feminist views?

So in the past when I needed money I would do webcam modelling/camshows/whatever you want to call it. I could make decent money from it and also get items bought for me from my Amazon wishlist. During the time I would become really uncomfortable with it, disturbed and disgusted by the men etc, I would feel so sick and empty after a while.

I'm a radical feminist and don't believe things should be like this whatsoever but my hours were recently cut at work and I simply need the money, the times in the past were due to being desperate for money for rent, food, bills and necessities. It makes more money than any job I can do, at my job I get £8.71 per hour but an hour of cam modelling can make hundreds on a good day plus collecting fans which gives the opportunity of additional money and gifts.

It's going to make me feel like shit, also I feel like I'm letting women down by choosing to be part of this and to serve men who are disgusting people. But at the same time I need money for me and my kid. I just wonder if it's unethical from a feminist point of view to do this.

If you were someone who seemed up for it and positive about it, I'd say bash on. I have a few friends who have turned to cam work at this time, all go them!

Feminism aside - this doesn't sound like something you'd be happy about doing and I would suggest protecting your mental health here.

@h3av3n Regarding your lack of qualifications, some colleges take mature students without exams, you just have to do a numeracy and literacy test. I think this would be worth looking into for your long term prospects.

Find out if you are getting everything you're entitled to from the DWP.

There are many charities and local organisations that help people who are struggling. You can find out about them from your local CAB, council and women's centre.

Is the father paying child maintenance? If not, get the ball rolling with that.

Find out if you're entitled to The Warm Home Discount for gas and electric.

Access your local food bank.

I'm making no judgement on what you feel you need to do to pay your bills, none whatsoever, but it sounds like it will mess with your head and that's no good for you or your daughter.

I feel for you and I hope things improve for you Flowers

Stick a postcard in a newsagents window for cleaning at £10 an hour and someone will snap you up.

I'd be bothered about a PP saying that, as times are harder financially, the market is saturated. So you might get a bit of a shock at prices compared to the last time you did it. If it is such a buyers' market at the moment then the consumers will be able to select the youngest, prettiest women and pay them absolute peanuts to abuse themselves and everyone else is going to be left on the virtual shelf a lot of the time. It might only get worse as porn only goes one way- more and more bloodthirsty it seems- and meanwhile there is an endless supply of clean young desperate cannon fodder pouring into the machine.

So if you do it, keep pursuing all the other avenues as well as hard as you can and plan your exit strategy long term for when you're too old to be chosen any more, or for when there are too many women willing to pretend they're orgasming whilst eating dogshit and sticking a breeze block up their arse (or whatever comes into fashion next) for you to be able to refuse to do that and still get work, or for when you mentally just can't do it any more.
