To say I don't care what genitals the person in the next loo cubicle has...

And that most people probably don't either?

I'm sick of the transphobia on Mumsnet, and fed up of how it seems to be fine on here to go after trans writers such as Juno Dawson, who is writing from their own experience and imagination, and absolutely allowed to publish whatever the fuck they want.

I care that everyone has the right to consent to which members if the opposite sex they undress In front of or are examined medically by. Those that dont think that , well that says more about them than us.

Sexnotgender · 18/05/2020 13:29

One of them did use the male toilets to make people more comfortable and ended up in hospital.

The issue there is male violence. Women’s spaces are not a refuge for gender non conforming males.

GeorginaEstonia · 18/05/2020 13:29

I care.

Helmetbymidnight · 18/05/2020 13:30

As though if only men and boys didn't exist then all forms of bullying and assault would simply disappear. It's ridiculous.

No one has said that Hooves. But you are the one intent on ignoring that most sexual abuse is committed by men, child sexual abuse by men, that domestic violence, murder, manslaughter, and terrorism are also largely by ...you know...men.

Its not just safety why women need single sex spaces - although this is a massive issue - its privacy and dignity too.

Misrepresenting our arguments to insist women can't have single spaces is what is ridiculous.

BusyProcrastinator · 18/05/2020 13:30

I used to be ‘TWAW and they’re oppressed!’ because no one wants to be mean.

Until a feminist asked “so what is a woman?” and I realised it was impossible to answer without sexist or vague rubbish.

I now think society is really horribly intolerant of feminine males. Be yourself, but you can’t change sex. The people who think dresses, make up, beauty and feelings (seriously!) makes a woman are SO SEXIST.

Unless you can also tell me how it feels to be a woman. No mentions of rainbows or roses or cuddles please.

WhatCFeryIsThis · 18/05/2020 13:30

@BarbedBloom One of them did use the male toilets to make people more comfortable and ended up in hospital.

Is this because they were attacked? By a man?

If so, how would having only unisex bathrooms change the risk of this?

Wouldn't it be better to tackle the issue of some men believing it's okay to attack whoever they want for whatever reason they see fit? Instead of herding everyone into 'safer' areas filled with women?

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/05/2020 13:31

One of them did use the male toilets to make people more comfortable and ended up in hospital. That’s awful and should never have happened to your poor friend. That’s why males need to be educated and told to accept all males into Male toilets, no matter how they identify. Women are afraid of male violence and that’s why single sex spaces should remain so. Male violence against other male bodied people should not be the responsibility of women.

You are completely missing the point Hooves.

Hooves never misses the point. Hooves just jumps on every single thread about women wanting to maintain safe spaces, in order to defend men. No doubt Hooves will soon say how Hooves gates all the transphobia/NAMALT and throw in a bit of ‘you hate men’.

CountryPlumpkin · 18/05/2020 13:32

I care.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 18/05/2020 13:33

I think you’ll find OP that trans folk are bery much obsessed with periods. Messy or otherwise.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 18/05/2020 13:35

LemonadeAndDaisyChains, if you believe that TWAW, can you answer my previous question please?

What previous question?
As the other bit you've quoted there wasn't me? I have and have used unisex bathrooms and felt fine.
So you’ve been through that, yet have absolutely no empathy with other women who have been affected and fear sharing spaces with male bodied people, no matter how they identify?

That quote wasn't me

emz771 · 18/05/2020 13:35

I don’t want my 13 year old daughter to share a bathroom with a man!

What a monster I must be!

FOJN · 18/05/2020 13:35

This is what a woman looks like. I assume people who support the OP's view wouldn't mind this woman being naked in a changing room with their teenage daughter. If she expresses transphobic views you can always gaslight her.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/05/2020 13:36

I care.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 18/05/2020 13:37

I think you’ll find OP that trans folk are bery much obsessed with periods. Messy or otherwise

How the hell can you generalise like that?
You in all seriousness say "trans folk are bery (sic) much obsessed with periods?
You realise they're people too right, not one big generalised lump?
Fetishes, periods obsessed - that's where the problem lies on here.
Prejudice and assumptions.

pollysproggle · 18/05/2020 13:37

@LimpLettice
😷
That's so disturbing. You'd think if you really felt like a woman you'd be happy not to have any periods.

SarahTancredi · 18/05/2020 13:38

Prejudice and assumptions

Bit like thinking woman is a feeling isnt it...

emz771 · 18/05/2020 13:39

The world has gone crazy - and likes to dress it up as tolerance. Anybody who challenges this “tolerance” is a bigot.

It’s not right and it’s not natural - and I don’t want my children around it.

Olliephaunt4eyes · 18/05/2020 13:39

I'm a survivor of sexual assault. I'm also not a transphobe and am not worrying about a penis existing on the other side of a cubicle wall to me and I wish that GC feminists would stop claiming to speak for me when they are mostly just speaking for themselves and their own prejudices.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/05/2020 13:39

Well, it's pretty much another side of the GC=TERF isn't it?

As with all generalisations it holds a mirror up that some won't look into!

LimpLettice · 18/05/2020 13:40

But that's the whole point. Safeguarding says you assume risk and plan and prepare. Women and children are at risk from men, and no one is saying this or any other group of people are a homogenised lump. On the whole, transwomen have the same sex and violent offence rates as other men, so we safeguard vulnerable spaces. I really cannot see why that's hard to understand.

RainMustFall · 18/05/2020 13:40

When I read the title and OP my first thought was: and? Who gives a damn? But then I realised its purpose was to goad and it worked. We need to stop responding to these threads, cut off their oxygen.

FairfaxAikman · 18/05/2020 13:41

Trans women are women and have the right to use women’s toilets.
They do t have that right, and they never have. The Equality Act specifically allows them to be excluded.

Just because some companies have been adopting either because they are woke or because they have been misled as to the ACTUAL law does not change that.

coronaandtired · 18/05/2020 13:42

Saying that trans folk are obsessed with periods is like saying gay men are paedophiles - which was a widely held stereotype for a very long time.

Of course now we know that some gay men are paedophiles, but no more than any other type of person, and the same goes for fetishising periods. Pretty sure my trans mates aren't waiting for me to finish on the loo so they can go sniff my used tampon tubes in the bin.

OP posts:
emz771 · 18/05/2020 13:42

Trans women are not women - as Ben Shapiro said - they are men pretending to be women.

h3av3n · 18/05/2020 13:42

Olliephaunt4eyes has it crossed your mind that GC women also have experienced that and are speaking for themselves and other women and girls who feel the same way? Not everyones trauma is the same...
