To ask how the shopping gets inside?

There seem to be a lot of new slots coming on for sainsburys near me for delivery (after all the priority ones have gone) so I'm considering getting one. I'm curious as they no longer do bags, will they empty the crates outside the front door and then I bring the items in? Probably a stupid question but working out how feasible as heavily pregnant and on my own. Anyone shopped Sainsburys for a massive online shop lately?

They are doing bags again, due to Covid. They'll leave the bags on your doorstep.

HotDogGuy · 17/05/2020 12:15

They are now coming in bags.
For us the bags are out on our doorstep, the driver knocks and backs away and we take the bags in.

toomanytrollshere · 17/05/2020 12:15

Oh great, thanks so much for replying!

FYI, Tesco are not doing bags. Avoid if possible!

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 17/05/2020 12:16

They may have temporarily returned to bags. Asda seems to have done this. I've had click and collect orders all in bags and my dads delivery also came in bags.

I had one delivery when isolating and they were all loose items in crates. I just emptied the items from the crates into bags in my hall way.

toomanytrollshere · 17/05/2020 12:16

@Thisismytimetoshine oh gosh, I will do thanks

Tesco where I am are doing bags. I've got loads of the things now!

greyspottedgoose · 17/05/2020 12:17

Which tesco isn't using bags? We are getting through thousands every week now packing all home shops I'd assumed it was company wide

tiredanddangerous · 17/05/2020 12:17

Tesco’s are doing bags when they deliver to my house. They should be doing it for everyone...I got an email about it at the start or lockdown.

MummaGiles · 17/05/2020 12:17

Yep, bags here too. Drivers put a stack of crates with bags by your door, knock, back away, and when you’ve emptied a crate they lift it away so you can get to the next one.

They’ve also restarted this week the process of rejecting any unwanted substitutions at the door, with the drivers processing it for a refund.

Winterwoollies · 17/05/2020 12:20

I’m heavily pregnant too. It’s a pain in the bum at the moment! Everything is coming in bags though. Though saying that, I sit outside on the floor with a bowl of hot soapy water and wipe everything down. I take it all out of the bags it comes in, which I bag up together and leave outside. Then once clean, I decant it all into my own bags, carry it inside and put it away. Some may think that’s OTT but it gives me peace of mind and doesn’t take very long.

Somanysocks · 17/05/2020 12:21

For all of you who have too many bags please consider donating them to food bank deliverers, they are very much needed there.

StoorieHoose · 17/05/2020 12:23

Tescos ARE doing bags

Thisismytimetoshine · 17/05/2020 12:23

West London here? I've been using any where I can get a slot, tbh. Tesco wheeled crates up to my front door and tutted while we emptied them into the hall, apparently not quickly enough for his liking.
This was two weeks ago, mind.

RuLu · 17/05/2020 12:23

I have empty washing baskets ready by the door just in case there are no bags! Every time I remember, there are bags! When I forget, no bags!

Glittertwins · 17/05/2020 12:25

Ever since this all started, Tesco have delivered my shopping in bags. Some bags have had just one item in too - we're flooded with them

AmNot · 17/05/2020 12:25

My Tesco delivery comes in bags too.

Thisismytimetoshine · 17/05/2020 12:27

Are you all in London?

dawnpanda · 17/05/2020 12:28

My Tesco still isn't coming with bags!!!
London here.
They come in crates

Dmt80 · 17/05/2020 12:28

Tesco are using bags where I am too. They weren't Tesco logo bags though, just plain white ones.

StoorieHoose · 17/05/2020 12:29

Nope Central Scotland

Lindjam · 17/05/2020 12:29

My Tesco delivery comes in bags....Not in London

toomanytrollshere · 17/05/2020 12:29

@RuLu great idea, cheers
