To ask how the shopping gets inside?

There seem to be a lot of new slots coming on for sainsburys near me for delivery (after all the priority ones have gone) so I'm considering getting one. I'm curious as they no longer do bags, will they empty the crates outside the front door and then I bring the items in? Probably a stupid question but working out how feasible as heavily pregnant and on my own. Anyone shopped Sainsburys for a massive online shop lately?

I had an Asda delivery on Friday. It came in crates and the driver waited very patiently and told us not to rush while we emptied it into our own bags at the front door.

BammBamm · 17/05/2020 12:33

I'm in NW and our Tesco order comes in bags in crates. Asda emptied bags to doorstep and backed away.

anothernamechangeagain · 17/05/2020 12:33

Anytime I get an online shop I take my own bags or boxes to the door and load into them

Mustbetimeforachange · 17/05/2020 12:35

Bags here from Tesco, hundreds of them :(. We are shielding but will donate them to a good bank when I can.

Crazychocolatelady · 17/05/2020 12:38

I'm in ireland and get a tesco delivery every week, the driver leaves the shopping in the crates at the door and backs away and I leave the previous weeks crates outside the door disinfected for him to take away. Works perfectly for us

GertiMJN · 17/05/2020 12:39

My Sainsbury's delivery yesterday was not in bags. I have a couple of the big IKEA bags that hat I unload the shopping into from the crates at the front door.

RainMustFall · 17/05/2020 12:39

FYI, Tesco are not doing bags. Avoid if possible!

I have had Tesco deliveries every week during lockdown and without exception, all items for EVERY delivery were in plastic bags. I had a delivery this morning, ALL in bags. I have a large bag full of Tesco plastic bags waiting to be returned to them once this thing is over.

OneandTwenty · 17/05/2020 12:39

Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Waitrose all use bags here too. Drivers bring crates to the front of the property, and empty the bags there.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/05/2020 12:40

I also have oodles of bags from Tesco.

Leflic · 17/05/2020 12:42

Thisismytimetoshine My Tesco order has literally just arrived in loads bags. One had just three tins in.
The only thing not on the order was the wine box .Its very disappointing. They have shelves of wine to substitute with.

antipodalpizza · 17/05/2020 12:42

They put the crates on the doorstep and then step back and wait for you to remove the items from the first crate, then they remove the crate and step back and you do the second crate.

Spacerader · 17/05/2020 12:43

Another one whose tesco delivery is now coming in bags.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 17/05/2020 12:45

Asda hit & miss on bags

Sometimes comes in bags but other times they leave a crate near the door & step back.

You then have to take each item out singly.

Katinski · 17/05/2020 12:45

Iceland deliver in bags which I then use for my household rubbishSmile

EmmaC78 · 17/05/2020 12:46

Tesco definately delivering in bags. As some have said they are sometimes putting an item or two in each! I think i would rather no bags than that.

Redglitter · 17/05/2020 12:47

FYI, Tesco are not doing bags. Avoid if possible

All my Tesco shopping is coming in the nice big heavy duty carrier bags

TheRoyallingStones · 17/05/2020 12:49

Asda have gone back to using bags. A couple of times they must’ve run out of branded ones as it was in plain blue bags. Another time it was all in bags for life but usually it’s been in the single use ones.

The drivers mostly leave it in the bags just outside the front door to my building (I’m in a flat) and then ring the buzzer for me to collect it. If they call me while they’re still bringing crates I just make sure I hang back while they’re close and pick the stuff up while they’re going back to the van.

The drivers are used to this by now, it’s much improved since the early days of social distancing

AJPTaylor · 17/05/2020 12:50

We have loads of bags from Ocado. I just stick them in household recycling straight away. Why hold onto them?

iften · 17/05/2020 12:51

I put a large thankyou note on the door, and ask them to leave everything on the doorstep, I leave a huge cardboard box out too. If I don't do this, sometimes they expect me to unload the crates while they hover.

13 long life bags from Tesco last time, it varies a lot. SW London.

Similar with Sainsburys.

PumpkinP · 17/05/2020 12:53

I’m in south London and Tesco’s does come with bags I’ve had them come weekly always with bags.

MilkRunningOutAgain · 17/05/2020 12:55

My Sainsbury’s order came 2 weeks ago with bags but so many things I’d ordered were missing I had to go to the shop to top up. Not bothered ordering since.

iften · 17/05/2020 12:56

AJPTaylor Have Ocado stopped paying you 5p for each returned bag now? Not had a delivery in a while from them.

Redwinestillfine · 17/05/2020 12:57

My Tesco do bags

PumpkinP · 17/05/2020 12:57

That’s the thing with online shopping, I had an Asda delivery due yesterday that I booked 3 weeks ago that was cancelled on the day with no explanation or chance to reschedule.

Mustbetimeforachange · 17/05/2020 12:57

Our household recycling doesn't take plastic bags
