To ask how the shopping gets inside?

There seem to be a lot of new slots coming on for sainsburys near me for delivery (after all the priority ones have gone) so I'm considering getting one. I'm curious as they no longer do bags, will they empty the crates outside the front door and then I bring the items in? Probably a stupid question but working out how feasible as heavily pregnant and on my own. Anyone shopped Sainsburys for a massive online shop lately?

Can't speak for Sainsbury's , but we have had Tesco deliveries here almost every week since the lockdown. Apart from the very first one, every delivery has arrived in bags, incluythe delivery we received yesterday. We are on the east side of London.

*Thisismytimetoshine

FYI, Tesco are not doing bags. Avoid if possible!*

I work on dot.com at Tesco at the moment and we are definitely bagging everything other than the bumper packs of toilet roll, big boxes of beer which obviously do t fit in bags

EatsShootsAndRuns · 17/05/2020 13:41

Asda delivers to us in crates with no bags so we have to take the crates in and unpack them in the hall.

OhDearBatman · 17/05/2020 13:42

We get Tesco, they come in bags. Same for click and collect. I give them to our local food bank every week, there's always so many! Especially when they use one bag per item sometimesHmm

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 17/05/2020 13:43

Tesco shopping in bags in SE Kent - and only one substitution! That was just one brand of raisins for another which is pretty amazing when you think I got £170 worth of stuff for me and older family members.

IFeelTheNeedTheNeedForSleep · 17/05/2020 13:44

We put an Ikea blue bag on the step for the stuff to go in and then bring it in - easier than having to bring everything individually

Sophiafour · 17/05/2020 13:44

@Thisismytimetoshine Our Tescos (seaside town, Somerset) are definitely delivering in bags so it might vary by distribution centre?

BarefootHippieChick · 17/05/2020 13:56

Tesco are definitely doing bags. I now have enough bags to wallpaper my whole house.

Branster · 17/05/2020 14:26

I have only done click&collect but assume it’s the same for home deliveries. Both a Tesco and Sainsbury’s are packed in bags. Loads of bags!

Roselilly36 · 17/05/2020 14:34

Hit & miss really, Morrison’s we’re using bags, last delivery in crates only, pretty dirty looking ones too. Asda were using bags, but I notice it now says they will deliver in crates so bring your own bags to the door, who knows, I will update, delivery booked for tomorrow morning, so excited 😆 first delivery for over a fortnight!

cdtaylornats · 17/05/2020 14:35

My Tesco order is bagged. If bag for life were true I'm going to live forever.

VenusTiger · 17/05/2020 14:38

My LA recycles shopping bags - we pop them into our recycling bin, just a thought if you want to check with yours.

vanillandhoney · 17/05/2020 14:43

Morrisons are also doing bagged shopping.

WobblyAllOver · 17/05/2020 14:43

Tesco reintroduced bags when this all kicked off. So have morrisons as I use both.

I sometimes get only one item packed in a bag Confusedso I have now have a bag for life mountain Sad

BlueJava · 17/05/2020 14:49

All our stuff and my mum's stuff (2 different counties) comes from Tescos in bags.

Roominmyhouse · 17/05/2020 14:53

I can’t wait until Sainsbury’s go back to bagless deliveries. We are drowning in plastic bags now! The packers only seem to put about 2 things in each bag.

Outnumbered99 · 17/05/2020 14:55

@thisismytimetoshine my tescos delivery came in bags today

Clutterbugsmum · 17/05/2020 15:10

My Tesco shopping comes in bags. Plain white ones.

40somethingJBJ · 17/05/2020 15:13

I think it depends on area. I’ve had a Tesco’s order unbagged delivered, but my click and collect was bagged. Asda delivered bagged one week and unbagged the next. It’s a pain when it’s unbagged as I’m disabled and rather slow when it comes to transferring it from the crates into my own bags, as I’m balancing on a walking stick and doing it one handed. Some drivers offer to do it for me, others say they’re not allowed to touch my shopping. One asked me to hurry up as I was making him late! Seems to be luck if the draw!

dingdang · 17/05/2020 15:16

I just picked up a click and collect Tesco order which was in bags. It was at their corporate offices and they'd set up a station with four delivery vans and a bunch of staff who put the delivery directly into the boot of my car. I only picked up the slot last night. Very impressed!

dingdang · 17/05/2020 15:17

Oh and I'm in London too

DKanin · 17/05/2020 15:18

Our Tesco are using bags - they just leave bags of shopping by the door, ring the bell and leave, then we bring it in with gloves and put it all on paper, clean it then put it away

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 17/05/2020 16:25

NOOOO, TESCO ARE DELIVERING IN BAGS becomes the new CANCEL THE CHEQUE

ViciousJackdaw · 17/05/2020 17:50

Tons of Tesco bags here - the charity shop near me always needs carriers so that's where they'll be going.
