To ask if any of you got pregnant with PCOS

So, we are not planning on having kids for I'd say at least another 2 years, but I was diagnosed with PCOS about 3-4 years ago since I have been worried about getting pregnant when the time comes... I am on no contraception - using condoms all the time - as I didn't want to take any hormones into my body + I get migraines so can't be on the pill really. I still get my period bang on, 21 days however I bleed very little... like 3 days perhaps. First 2 days mid heavy, 3rd barley bleeding then patches of blood and brown discharge for another 2-3 days...
Apart from that I deal with mild acne and very sensitive boobs all the time that might indicate some hormone imbalances.
Every now and then I get a bit of a fear of getting pregnant when the time comes... I'm in my late 20s and I know that infertility can affect many lives but just to stear my thoughts to a positive direction does anyone have successfull pregnancy stories with PCOS?

Yes on the first month of trying both times I’ve been pregnant. Good luck it can happen for you!

thunderthighsohwoe · 16/05/2020 19:33

I don’t know if this helps, but I have a 17mo from IVF due to PCOS. Mine was quite severe though, and the IVF worked first time. We even have seven frozen embryos to try again ASAP.

MinistryOfTragic · 16/05/2020 19:34

Me too, diagnosed in 2011 and had my daughter in 2015. Took us a while, 18 months of trying, but that was with no tracking ovulation or medical intervention. Good luck OP! Sincerely wish you well for when the time comes.

birdling · 16/05/2020 19:35

Yes, 3 times. Used Agnus castus the first time, to kick start my cycle. No idea where the 2nd came from and 3rd was a happy surprise when we thought we'd finished having babies.

CupCupGoose · 16/05/2020 19:37

I got pcos after my first 2 pregnancies (which happened easily) but struggled to get pregnant with my third. I lost a stone and a half and then had unprotected sex once and got pregnant.

Bananasandorangesss · 16/05/2020 19:38

Don’t worry OP. A consultant gynaecologist said I would need to take medication to get pregnant and I worried for several years. Met DH and was a little bit ‘relaxed’ before we got married and had to have a shotgun wedding. Our next child was planned in a sense but didn’t know whether we just got “lucky” first time - DTD one time when ovulating (with ovulation sticks) and our little bundle is currently sleeping upstairs. Just don’t worry about it or think about it yet - everyone is different and will wish you good luck for when the time is right for you!!xx

DontTouchTheMoustache · 16/05/2020 19:39

Not me but a good friend was trying for 4 years and conceived through IVF on her second try then while on mat leave fell pregnant naturally with her second.

Lulublu · 16/05/2020 19:39

Yes - four times (three while bf-ing) in my 30s. First took six months, the others first time (but miscarried two of them). My cycle was a bit mad before my first but has been like clockwork since. There is definitely hope. Good luck!

Hopeislost · 16/05/2020 19:44

I have severe PCOS and it took us two years to conceive naturally. By that point we were on the waiting list for NHS IVF.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/05/2020 19:48

Yes, we started TTC when I was 35, I was diagnosed with pcos some time after - my main symptoms when off the pill were acne and very irregular periods (months apart, no discernible pattern). I had DD when I was 38, conceived on my second round of Clomid.

Lulublu · 16/05/2020 19:48

I found ovulation sticks really helped.. although I got through loads each month as I couldn’t pinpoint at all when I was ovulating.

JonbonMoany · 16/05/2020 19:49

First month after my implant was removed for me. Yet my friend was TTC for years.

AaronBurrSirr · 16/05/2020 19:52

We were casually TTC for 2 years, but rarely got periods and cycles between 40-100+ days, then right at the beginning of starting to get help with the NHS, tried Inofolic and got pregnant 6 weeks after!

Corcra · 16/05/2020 19:53

I was trying for about 18months. I got pregnant on my second round of clomid (lowest dose).
My sil has pcos and got pregnant no problem.
Good luck.

x2boys · 16/05/2020 19:54

Yep I had a,very irregular cycle too ,like six months sometimes in between periods ,we conceived ds1within five weeks of trying and ds2after 12_months .

2007Millie · 16/05/2020 19:56

Yes. No trying with first, just very relaxed with taking my pill and it happened.

2 weeks into TTC baby #2

AlohaMolly · 16/05/2020 19:57

I was diagnosed in 2013, didn’t seem to struggle getting pregnant but struggled to keep them. I had 3 mcs between 2011 and 2014 but fell pregnant (different partner) in 2015 while on the pill and my 4 year old currently dropping off to sleep beside me.

PoetaDeLosSandwiches · 16/05/2020 19:58

You sound like me with migraines, 21 day cycles and acne.

I used ovulation sticks. 1st time took 3 months, 2nd time 1 month.

Bertoldbrecht · 16/05/2020 19:58

Had 2 miscarriages over 4 years, then 2 successful ivf cycles, had a naturally conceived pregnancy between ds1 and 2 but miscarried.
I didn't have the syndrome as periods were regular, no acne or weight issues but 1ovary was polycystic and ovulation was all over the show. Otoh a friend had pcos and never had any periods but managed to get pregnant naturally.

Theluggage15 · 16/05/2020 20:26

Yep. I took clomid for a while but that didn’t work for me but then got pregnant naturally. I did have an ectopic pregnancy between my two children, not sure if that had anything to with pcos. There may be a lot more treatments out there now as my children are in their twenties!!

The fact you’re having regular periods sounds quite positive, mine used to be all over the place.

Merryoldgoat · 16/05/2020 20:28

Yes, twice. First try both times at ages 34 and 39.

DontStandSoCloseToMe · 16/05/2020 20:29

Yep, lost loads of weight by brutal gym regime and strict low GI, came off the pill straight after our wedding as the doctor had said to give it at least six months for everything to normalise before we'd get our fertility clinic referral and that I'd definitely need treatment. Got pregnant after one period (around 5/6 weeks after getting back from honeymoon)

DontStandSoCloseToMe · 16/05/2020 20:30

Oh I was 34

MamaGothel · 16/05/2020 20:30

I'm days away from having my third baby with PCOS. Almost 8 years of TTC in total but I have the family I wanted. My sister was trying for 10 years before she got pregnant, but it happened for her in the end.

Merryoldgoat · 16/05/2020 20:30

Oh, and I was obese as well which made for a very unpleasant pregnancy.

If you are overweight lose now if you can.
