I would very curious to see if anyone would have voted differently, or if they had the chance to change their vote now would you?

yanbu only because they would never admit it even if they did.

Newjez · 16/05/2020 20:04

@Pollyputthepizzaon

I wouldn't have voted for Corbyn. I don't think he would have been a good leader. I think it's tragic that we didn't have a decent choice at the last election.

But on the subject of corbyn's debt, have you any idea how much we have borrowed over the past couple of months?

Lots, and lots, and lots. We will never pay it back.

And if we can borrow to fight a virus, why can't we borrow to invest in our country? The Tory austerity was just a joke.

coronabeer23 · 16/05/2020 20:05

Absolutely no regrets. I don’t think any government would have handled it much differently, they would have had the same medical advisors offering the same advice. I’m not unhappy with the Tories but look forward to voting for Keir next time round if the carries on how he has started

Lifestyleinlondon88 · 16/05/2020 20:05

Still no examples of how they’ve done so well?

Also none as to why JC would have been worse.

newtb · 16/05/2020 20:06

Nope

withgraceinmyheart · 16/05/2020 20:07

I don't get this 'prioritised the economy over people' thing. Have you not realised yet that we are heading for the worst recession in modern history? That thousands of people will die because of the resulting poverty? That millions of lives with ruined?

The economy is people. If we were talking about a slight dip in the stock market you'd have a point but we aren't. We talking about a crash that will be catastrophic.

So no, I don't blame the government for trying to minimise that. I think it shows that they're thinking long term and not caving to the pressure from people who haven't got how serious this is.

EmpressLangClegInChair · 16/05/2020 20:07

Several of the Labour leadership candidates wanted feminists to be kicked out of the party. Lisa Nandy & Rebecca Long Bailey did, anyway, & Dawn Butler & Angela Rayner were cheering them on. So I take it they didn’t want us to vote for Labour either.

Even with that I took it right to the wire. I emailed my Labour candidate (knowing she’d keep her seat anyway) and told her what I needed to hear in order to vote for her.

Tumbleweed. So I took the hint.

weepingwillow22 · 16/05/2020 20:08

I don't understand how anyone (with the exception of trump) could have done a worse job than the tories. What specific examples can tory voters give of what a labour government could have done worse in relation to the tories handling of covid? What aspects of covid do you feel have been handled well?

Parky04 · 16/05/2020 20:09

No regrets at all. Have no idea on how labour would have handled the crisis. If the likes of momentum are still linked to the Labour Party I will continue to vote Conservative.

Twooter · 16/05/2020 20:09

No regrets at all

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/05/2020 20:10

That's because, there no examples of how they've done a well. That's why no one will or rather can give you an example.
As PP says we have the second worse Covid related death rate in the whole world. If that's the Tories doing the best. Id hate to see their worse.

weepingwillow22 · 16/05/2020 20:11

One example, anyone, of something the tories have done well/should be proud of in relation to their handling of covid.....

KenDodd · 16/05/2020 20:15

What would actually cause a Conservative voter to regret their vote?

Nothing.
There will be Tory voters burying their elderly relatives after Tory policy sent them back to care homes from hospital without a CV test, seeding CV into care homes saying "Corbyn would be worse ". It's astonishing.
It's like Brexit, nothing will move them. I thought with Brexit the killing of Lyra McKee would be a turning point, after all, we were told Brexit would spell trouble for NI, but no, it didn't move the needle at all.

Lifestyleinlondon88 · 16/05/2020 20:17

I believe lockdown didn’t happen sooner because he didn’t want to close businesses down earlier, therefore I feel he prioritised money over people - not at all surprising when you think of the history. I feel he ignored warnings so that we didn’t have to shut down when we were advised to and lose even more money in areas such as retail.

Half the country are only being compliant because its Boris. Yes to this.

Oxyiz · 16/05/2020 20:19

TBH I think you're deluding yourself about who's properly in charge if you really think its just whoever's in the cabinet.

itwaseverthus · 16/05/2020 20:22

I did and don't regret it.

How peculiar that so many posters think we wouldn't admit it. Perhaps deceit comes more naturally to them.

Ellie56 · 16/05/2020 20:22

I didn't vote Conservative and I still won't while Bozo the Clown is "in charge." Hmm

KenDodd · 16/05/2020 20:24

Tory austerity is thought to have killed 120,000 people, CV has 'only' killed 50,000 so far, I wonder how many of those would still be alive if the crisis hadn't been so atrociously mismanaged?

Lifestyleinlondon88 · 16/05/2020 20:24

Still no examples ...

This is exactly why we think people won’t admit it, because they are clearly doing an awful job but low and behold ... no one is admitting it.

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 16/05/2020 20:25

I didn’t vote for the Tories just because I love my labour MP, but I really think most people didn’t vote for Boris, they voted to avoid Corbyn.

So I put the blame of this government of clowns on Corbyn and his supporters.

KenDodd · 16/05/2020 20:30

In good news! Eighteen countries and territories have completely eradicated CV from their country.

itwaseverthus · 16/05/2020 20:31

OP still no examples of what? I can't see that particular question in your op and haven't read the full thread.

India999 · 16/05/2020 20:33

It's not about "having Corbyn at the helm" it's about voting for a PARTY and POLICIES that have the best interests of PEOPLE at their core.

Labour have always had the NHS at the heart of their policies and if you voted conservative in the last ten years - you have blood on your hands.

VeraorHolly · 16/05/2020 20:34

I didn't vote tory, I voted Plaid because I didn't like Corbyn's version of Labour.

I do regret it. Plaid are salivating over the new border powers. I think they would keep coronavirus for years if they can keep the English out.

I will never vote plaid again. My MP says nothing about PPE and plenty about second homes.
