No regrets. (Although Keir Starmer looks like a decent contender at last).
This Tory government is practically socialist with all they're doing during this covid19 crisis.

Boulshired · 16/05/2020 19:22

What angers me everyone knew Kier was going to be leader of labour and when as a country we needed opposition and questioning of the Covid response Labour was having a leadership contest. Anyone can be a critic in with hindsight but how can we judge how labour would of handled it when they gave no credible alternatives.

Clavinova · 16/05/2020 19:25

*I think Labour would have dealt with the crisis better (they couldn't possibly have done worse)

They didn't do very well with pneumonia -

"In the period 2001–10, 214 people for every million died from pneumonia in the UK, which sits just outside the top 20 of countries for deaths from pneumonia."

"The only European countries with higher rates than the UK are Slovakia and Romania."

starfro · 16/05/2020 19:25

No regrets. I think they have done an excellent job so far.

Crosswordocelot · 16/05/2020 19:26

The choices in the last election were about as attractive as having to choose between being pushed off a cliff or being run over by a bus!
I'm not sure how it helps now except lots of people want to use as a stick to beat people with, and try to say told you so, or this us what you voted for.
*I didnt vote conservative in the last election btw

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 16/05/2020 19:27

@starfro how do you think they have done a good job?

ohlookthisisjustdaftnow · 16/05/2020 19:28

I reckon there's a load of Labour MP's thanking their lucky stars that they didn't win the last election.

ZombieFan · 16/05/2020 19:29

If Corbyn had gone on strike against the virus would it have stopped?

But lets be fair given the state of the economy Corbyns plans to borrow hundreds of billions more to nationalise everything are looking pretty clever would bankrupt the country

You can see which brother in this family got the brains and which got the 'looks'.

itsgettingweird · 16/05/2020 19:32

I'm a labour voter.

But I voted Tory as brexit needed sorting and JC was useless.

Can't say I regret it as Rushi Sunak is a fab chancellor. But I do wonder how Keir Starmer would have handled it.

Crosswordocelot · 16/05/2020 19:33

I dont know if it would ever happen but I wonder if there could be some sort of cross-party alliance to deal with such a crisis. In some ways I think it would be better but I guess the gov do need to be held to scrutiny over some of the decisions.

Lazypuppy · 16/05/2020 19:34

Why would i change my vote? Confused

Susanna85 · 16/05/2020 19:37

Always previously voted Labour. Didn't vote this time around.. didn't want JC in charge. Couldn't vote tory, but I am glad I didn't vote for labour.

I won't be going back to the Labour Party any time soon.

PersephoneandHades · 16/05/2020 19:37

All these people saying ‘Corbyn bad blah blah’ instead could you explain what it is that the torys are doing that is actually good? Because saying what is happening now is better than what Corbyn would have done when really no one knows what he would have done is just trying to make torys seem good by comparison.

What are their actual merits? Torys have brought our country to the second highest infection rate in the world whilst being over five times smaller than the first highest one. I do not think there is much space left for Corbyn to have done any worse than these money-hungry plonkers have

Healthyandhappy · 16/05/2020 19:39

Why would I have regrets nothing wrong with boris.

ZombieFan · 16/05/2020 19:41

could you explain what it is that the torys are doing that is actually good?
In the middle of a pandemic I dont think you can say anything done is 'good'. The best you can say is something is the least worst option.

Mintjulia · 16/05/2020 19:41

No, not i the slightest.

Jakobabear · 16/05/2020 19:43

Nope I don't regret it and I'll vote Tory again.
Everyone that's saying we have the second highest deaths, have you actually looked into how other countries are recording coronavirus deaths? There's no one size fits all approach and if you do a little research you'll soon see for yourself. Start with Belgium and carry on.....

Grumpylockeddownwoman · 16/05/2020 19:43

Like someone upthread - I didn’t vote last year - and am the very definition of a floating voter as have gone either way in the past.

That said, no I cannot imagine that Corbin would be doing a better job.

Sertchgi123 · 16/05/2020 19:46

Absolutely not. The thought of Jeremy Corbyn being in charge right now, makes me shudder.

ginsparkles · 16/05/2020 19:46

I agree completely with @Snoodleberry

StarShapedWindow · 16/05/2020 19:46

Crosswordocelot - I agree 100%. Politics has become so divisive, some people seem to view voting as a way of looking into the depths of someone’s soul. People vote for whoever suits their outlook or needs at any given time. This applies to all voters.

MintyMabel · 16/05/2020 19:47

No one ever admits regret!

No-one ever believes people don't have regrets.

See, anyone can make completely baseless statements.

gingganggooleywotsit · 16/05/2020 19:49

I hate the Tories and would never vote for them, but cannot imagine Jeremy Corbyn sorting this mess out either, he would have been disastrous too.

Oxyiz · 16/05/2020 19:50

Identity politics turned me off Labour and I don't see myself ever voting for them again.

However I rather think that whoever got in would have run this shambolically.

LaurieMarlow · 16/05/2020 19:50

have you actually looked into how other countries are recording coronavirus deaths?

Yeah. Other countries are including care home deaths for example, which they’ve recorded from the start. Confused
