@Gallacia. Just like BJ encouraged the spread. Taking his precious time to put us on lock down. Encouraging the herd immuinity. Basically saying it's okay to go around shaking hands with people.

Rightbutno · 16/05/2020 19:06

Tory voters, do you still clap for the NHS on a Thursday?

LaurieMarlow · 16/05/2020 19:07

What would a ‘worse job’ than these jokers have even looked like?

I’m struggling to understand that.

Bellybootcut · 16/05/2020 19:08

I didn't vote for them but actually I think they are the best party for what we need right now.
People compare Boris to Jeremy as that was the alternative. Why do people choose not to see that?

Chloemol · 16/05/2020 19:08

And how would knowing help? And how do we know Labour, lib drm, UKIP, it the Green Party would so any better? Look at Wales (Labour) and Scotland(snp) who set their own rules etc, have they done any better? Labour in Wales has run the nhs Into the ground. No sorry would come out of this well. Hindsight is a great thing isn’t it!

Utterlydespairing · 16/05/2020 19:08

Tory voters, do you still clap for the NHS on a Thursday?

Do Labour voters? Seeing as they were the ones who started privatisation?

Chloemol · 16/05/2020 19:08

Party not sorry

StatisticalSense · 16/05/2020 19:09

No.
Corbyn has consistently failed to listen to the advice to 'work at home if possible' despite being in an at risk group due to his age. If he won't listen to the science regarding his own situation he's unlikely to have listened to it regarding the situation facing the country.

Lostvoiced · 16/05/2020 19:10

@StatisticalSense

You mean like shaking hands in a hospital? Hmm

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 16/05/2020 19:11

Rightbutno

No, but then I never did. I live in the middle of nowhere, and even if I didnt, what would standing on my doorstep clapping do to help the NHS? I think it's more about people having a shared sense of kinship with their neighbours.

MintyChapstick · 16/05/2020 19:11

I loved the way the left had a go at Boris' dad because he said he was going to the pub but none of them have mentioned brother Corbyn being arrested today for taking part in a protest because 'COVID is just made up to control people.'

Well no one has mentioned that because it only happened a few hours ago and lots of people won't yet be aware, so that's a bit of a stupid comparison to make.

1forsorrow · 16/05/2020 19:12

Does Johnson listen to the advice? Shaking hands in hospitals, getting discharged from hospital and going back to Downing St then moving to Chequers, his fiancee moving from their flat somewhere in London to Chequers.

ZombieFan · 16/05/2020 19:12

Wasn't Corbyn recently arrested for protesting that 5G masts are causing Corona virus? Oh no wait that was his brother the one with an actual degree Confused

But I remember Corbyn had such great plans to stop a global pandemic. He might have done even better than Brown who saved the worlds banks.

Dam my memory is failing me, can anyone remember what Corbyns plans were, in January and February, to deal with the virus?

Sir Starmers strategy seems to be a bit better, wait a few months then look back in time and claim he had all the answers.

So far Boris seems to be doing the best anyone could have with the hand he has been dealt.

Snoodleberry · 16/05/2020 19:12

No, I would still voted conservative.

The problem I believe is that any leader would be vilified for not doing the “right” thing in the current circumstances. I think that the way our main two party political system works means that there will always be the shadow party there to sadly try to place blame and point fingers at the party in power, especially in such extraordinary circumstances. I feel that if there was less political point scoring, and greater emphasis on our elected representatives actually working together to solve the crisis, we would all feel much more positive.

I do not agree that the conservatives have done everything right, but then again I don’t think that Labour/Lim Dems/Green etc etc would have done it right either.

We are in unknown and uncertain times, that every leader and party would have struggled to do the ‘right thing’ in.

MadameMarie · 16/05/2020 19:13

I couldn't bring myself to vote for anyone last year

1forsorrow · 16/05/2020 19:13

If Boris is doing the best I dread to think what the worst could possibly be. Tell the care homes how well he's doing.

Noconceptofnormal · 16/05/2020 19:13

No regrets. There are two things I wish this govt had done differently (1) gone into lockdown about a week earlier and (2) stopped incoming flights at the same time or at least had a quarantine system in place.

But we would always have had a high death toll because (1) size and density of population in London, and overall density of population in England generally (2) we're the obesity capital of Europe (3) we have a higher BAME population than many European countries, who are more adversely affected by covid.

Mistakes have been made but overall I feel the govt has done a reasonable job in exceptional circumstances. If you look at the opinion polls, it seems that a majority agree.

KTheGrey · 16/05/2020 19:14

I voted Labour and my MP was elected but I didn't want Corbyn for PM. He wasn't much cop what with the anti Semitism and the feeble leadership, not to mention the 4 months notice period Hmm. I'd prefer Keir Starmer to BoJo by some margin, but that wasn't an option.

1forsorrow · 16/05/2020 19:15

I do not agree that the conservatives have done everything right, but then again I don’t think that Labour/Lim Dems/Green etc etc would have done it right either. Of course no one would get everything right unless they were incredibly lucky but to listen to Johnson and Hancock bare faced lying about how they protected the care homes is sickening. Can't they be man enough to admit it? Do they think we are all stupid, that we can't look at what the advice was and see they are lying?

PinkSparkleUnicorns · 16/05/2020 19:16

I'm a labour voter who thinks the Tories have handled this surprisingly well.

There are certain things that seem ridiculous, like why can nurseries open but you can't use a family member for childcare so you can get back to work?

But overall I think they have made correct decisions.

Clavinova · 16/05/2020 19:17

^"Piers Corbyn was taken away after showing up with a megaphone and proclaiming 5G and the coronavirus pandemic were linked, calling it a “pack of lies to brainwash you and keep you in order”."

He also said “vaccination is not necessary” and that “5G towers will be installed everywhere”, adding: “5G enhances anyone who’s got illness from Covid, so they work together.”

MadameMarie · 16/05/2020 19:18

I think Labour would have dealt with the crisis better (they couldn't possibly have done worse).

I wouldn't trust a Corbyn government to deal with the economic fall out though.

What would have happened with Corbyn though is the media would have gone for Labour's throat at every turn, leading to a mutinous mood in the country and therefore less obeying lockdown etc. Boris can do no wrong.

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 16/05/2020 19:18

No one ever admits regret!

But I don’t see how anyone could be doing a worse job that Johnson and his band.

I’d much rather have Starmer than Corbyn though, so now we’ve got rid of that liability I’m hoping we can get Starmer in as PM next time!

dragonicicle · 16/05/2020 19:19

No regrets. And I work for the NHS. Corbyn would have been abysmal

opticaldelusion · 16/05/2020 19:20

God no. Self awareness is not a Tory's strong point.
