I would very curious to see if anyone would have voted differently, or if they had the chance to change their vote now would you?

Keir Starmer, the Guardian and a spokesman from the Independent Sage Group keep mentioning South Korea - careful what they wish for!

randomer · 24/05/2020 17:43

@Soen, sorry but you misunderstand my post or it wasn't clear ie. I was on my own vomiting with 2 babies and no family. I contacted somebody and paid.

there is no way I will excuse this creature.

Alsohuman · 24/05/2020 17:48

Anyone regretting their vote yet?

VillageFete · 24/05/2020 18:12

@Alsohuman Their silence is golden Wink

JimmyGrimble · 24/05/2020 18:18

Carol Cadwalladr has been following the money ... lots of eye wateringly huge contracts being quietly shuffled to Dominic’s friends. No accountability, no shame. Plus ca change.

KenDodd · 24/05/2020 19:48

Anyone regretting their vote yet?

No. Not one poster has had even the slightest bit of criticism of their handling of CV. The Tories had treated their voters with utter contempt and it's because they know they can with no payback. I've seen the Vote Leave page this evening, full of support for Johnson and Cummings, calling fake news etc. This is despite Cummings making no secret of the fact he thinks Leave voters are thick.

EmpressoftheMundane · 24/05/2020 19:51

I’m disappointed. I would have preferred Starmer to Boris for this situation. But, the choice was Corbyn. Even knowing how it’s planning out, I still wouldn’t prefer Corbyn.

DeeCeeCherry · 24/05/2020 19:56

If only Jeremy Corbyn had straightened his glasses things could’ve been so different

He should've messed his hair up a bit as well.

Right now I want to know The Secret: Tory-voting clairvoyants who know exactly what Corbyn would have done, how did they gain their powers? They've managed to directly harvest the thoughts of JC. Magical.

Carol Cadwalladr has been following the money

Carol Cadwalladr mentioned here two weeks ago -

"Police drop investigation into pro-Brexit campaigners"

"In a statement, Mr Grimes, a former fashion student originally from County Durham, said: “The Metropolitan Police has found, after investigation and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, that there is no case to be answered." ...

"He also took aim at Observer journalist Carole Cadwalladr, claiming her “conspiracy theories have once again been found to be completely untrue, but have helped us expose the Electoral Commission”.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 24/05/2020 20:02

No - never - Conservative all the way.

DPR19 · 24/05/2020 20:06

Anyone who voted for Johnson in December has blood on their hands.

Alsohuman · 24/05/2020 20:08

They should have egg on their faces.

Soen · 24/05/2020 20:08

Can you only imagine the shit Corbyn would get if he had done what Cummins did? The media would be all over him like a fungal infection.

Soen · 24/05/2020 20:11

@randomer - sorry to hear you were so ill. I assume if it was CV, you wouldn't have paid someone to look after your children knowing you could infect that person? Vomiting, I can understand. But having CV would gain a different response from me unless you were completely incapable of looking after your kids.

VillageFete · 24/05/2020 20:14

@MilkTrayLimeBarrel Then you should be fucking ashamed

Alsohuman · 24/05/2020 20:18

At least she’s owning it. That’s pretty brave today.

VillageFete · 24/05/2020 20:28

@Alsohuman Braver than the dithering dickheads that she helped put in charge I suppose.

To be fair, I expect the majority that voted Conservatives in December did so in good faith. They thought they were voting in a “strong and stable” Government.
Their Government has let them down, massively. I’m sure there are many, many, many of them feeling shocked and appalled tonight.

Those that have that brainwashed, cult mentality towards this Government are beyond help after this. It’s shameful.

Hagisonthehill · 24/05/2020 20:38

I didn't vote Conservative but to be fair there was no credible opposition.
As for CV, I'm not sure the outcome wouldn't be similar as the same scientific advice would have been available.
Also so many people seem to be talking as if this is all over, manyore will die globally, lockdown merely delays the virus and no contry has better treatment because there is non. There is too much we still don't know about this virus,it causes douch more than respiratory problems in some people and we don't know why.

KenDodd · 24/05/2020 20:39

No - never - Conservative all the way.

See, I told you. There is absolutely nothing the Tories could do to turn their supporters away and they know it.

KenDodd · 24/05/2020 20:40

Covid death rate could be 10x what it is, it would make no difference.

Soen · 24/05/2020 20:51

Again, voters don't seem to have the mental ability to grasp that they are allowed to criticise they voted for. It's like they pledge their undying devotion. If they had friends/family members who treated them with the same contempt, I'm certain they would take issue with them, maybe even cut them off. They just don't seem to grasp that you can do that with political parties. It is quite worrying. Still the world needs its useful idiots I suppose.

Fosler · 24/05/2020 20:57

No. Neither do I feel let down by the government. What they are dealing with is unprecedented. I'm more concerned that there's something that they are not telling us, as in, this was designed and released deliberately by the CCP.

The effect on all countries has been devastating. The whole situation raises so many questions for me. The wording of the warning for a start. I would be saying 'This virus is highly contagious. It is vital you stay at home as much as possible to protect your health and the health of your loved ones. Work from home where possible and only make essential journeys. Wash your hands regularly and observe social distancing.'I don't get this 'Save the NHS!' If something serious is going round I'd be thinking of saving myself.

Since I'm a carer I'm out visiting clients six days a week and I've only seen three hearses. Now I'm in the NE which hasn't done very well considering it's not particularly densely populated. I would have expected to see more if what the BBC says is true. (Obviously very glad I haven't!).

I'm no scientist but how is it that if you have had Covid 19 you won't develop an immunity but if they inject you with it you will?

Why were patients sent back to care homes without testing and without the care homes being given the information needed to keep everyone safe?

I know of at least two people whose relative has died and coronavirus was put on the death certificate when the deceased had no symptoms but did have other health problems.

What about the effect of all the cancelled treatments, operations? What about the devastating effect of isolation? Someone tweeted that suicides in America had greatly risen since lockdown. Why are there no reports of people who live alone, with no one looking out for them, being found dead in their homes?
This whole thing stinks to me!
It seems a total over reaction and you have to ask who benefits. Surely, the common sense thing would have been to stop all incoming flights etc, have 4 week lockdown, allow everyone healthy to return to work and financially support anyone vulnerable to stay home longer? Now we have businesses going bust, people losing their jobs and all the big businesses creaming it in.

I'm getting cynical in my old age I guess.

Fosler · 24/05/2020 20:59

I voted Tory because I voted for brexit and Corbin just sat on the fence. There are other reasons why, in a staunch, (still!) labour area I will never vote labour but those are not relevant t to this topic.

Alsohuman · 24/05/2020 21:02

There is absolutely nothing the Tories could do to turn their supporters away and they know it

I thought that too. Then the one I’m married to shouted at the TV during the press briefing, can’t believe Cummings wasn’t given the push and is muttering gloomily about having to elect another leader before Christmas. I suppose that means he’ll still vote for them once they’ve ditched Johnson.

OhTheRoses · 24/05/2020 21:03

No. I don't regret campaigning for them either. But I did vote for Jeremy Hunt in the leadership election and believe he'd have handled this situation better. OTH I'm not sure he'd have won an 80 seat majority.
