Bar Staff

Just wondering why all the bar staff out there arn't doing more to help out in this lockdown?
There's apparently a pub in the next village doing lock-ins why isn't my local Wetherspoons doing this?
As key workers why are you refusing to do home deliveries of freshly pulled pints? Lots of us are working from home with young children and a nice IPA would go down a treat.
When I emailed my local at 3am i didn't get an immeadiate response, why are ALL the pubs in the country and all staff so lazy?
Why are bar staff so worried about being in a cramped room with a bunch of possible plague carriers, some bloke of the internet said if you breathe the other way you'll be fine. Beer is a human right.
What do scientists know, everybody knows that alcohol kills germs so what are you worrying about.
A pub up a mountain in Denmark never shut during this "pandemic" why don't you be more like them.
Finally you've had 8 weeks to plan re-opening with virtually no guidance and conflicting advice from the government, lots of industries that are totally different have managed it - WHY haven't you?

People probably aren't got to get this op

Sparklingbrook · 16/05/2020 10:10

I confess I don't get it. Blush

A daffodil?

DysonFury · 16/05/2020 10:20

Say what?

titbumwillypoo · 16/05/2020 10:21

The daffodil was for OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow as they seem unhappy and flowers are nice and make people happy. They must be missing a meal and a pint for £6.49 as much as the rest of us.

Most bar staff I know can't wait to be back at work because living on 80% of fuck all is shit.

Sparklingbrook · 16/05/2020 10:23
Flowers
Livelovebehappy · 16/05/2020 10:24

OP is being a tad sarcastic, for those who don’t get it.

avroroad · 16/05/2020 10:24

I get it. You are a teacher OP?

ScorpionQueen · 16/05/2020 10:25

Teachers are having a shit time of it but let's not start on others, even in satire.
Flowers

Finerumpus · 16/05/2020 10:26

I get it.
Replace bar staff etc with teachers/schools and it’ll all make sense.

Sparklingbrook · 16/05/2020 10:26

Oh. Teachers. I see.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 16/05/2020 10:28

Oh ffs🙄

blubellsarebells · 16/05/2020 10:31

I work in a restaurant.
We have been ordered to close.
We have been planning how we can safely reopen since we closed.
We will be opening for take away as soon as possible.
Our kitchen is not 2m wide so no social distancing.
I doubt we will be wearing face masks in a hot kitchen.
When we can open for eat in guests we will, which will be before september.
We cant socially distance.
We will go back to work.
If we dont go back to work we won't get paid.

MamaGee09 · 16/05/2020 10:42

I work in a bar/restaurant and have to admit I’m enjoying being off, no cheeky customers, no complaints, no messy families who leave the place looking like a tip, no Leary men, no name calling because I’ve stopped someone’s drinks! It’s bliss! 80%wages is pretty shit but better than the normal crap we have to put up with! 🤪🤪

Doyoumind · 16/05/2020 10:45

Pubs and schools aren't the same thing OP so your sarcasm doesn't work.

Sparklingbrook · 16/05/2020 10:48

I quite like the sound of a pub/school. Grin Wine

Finerumpus · 16/05/2020 11:11

Pubs and schools aren’t the same thing. It’s satire. It works fine. OP is not having a go at pub staff. She is pointing out how ridiculous and hopelessly ignorant many of the suggestions about schools are.

Marnie76 · 16/05/2020 11:15

Do some people only read the first line by an OP?? 😳

Sparklingbrook · 16/05/2020 11:18

It only works as satire if all posters are reading threads about schools I guess. I don't have a child in school.
I do however miss the pub.

tabulahrasa · 16/05/2020 11:18

One of my locals has asked if anyone would be interested in takeaway alcohol...

I mean, they’re just a bog standard old man pub with no fancy beers or anything, so I’m not really sure what the point would be, lol

UngainlyGiraffe · 16/05/2020 11:21

One of my locals has asked if anyone would be interested in takeaway alcohol...

Interesting idea. Imagine spending £6 on a glass of wine to drink in your own home when you could have bought the whole bottle for £7 at the local corner shop.
