To not want my child to return to a school full of reluctant teachers

Even if the Government endorses school reopening, who would want to send their child into an environment where the teachers clearly do not want them there ?

The flower posting is pathetic. I think OP has asked a genuine question and I have been wondering too.

I don't see how its teacher bashing.
I heard on sunday about schools opening for 3 year groups and then this week have had 2 emails from the head trying to subtly persuade us to keep them off, a survey with confusing questions misleading people to think that you should only send them in if you need to due to work and then a message from my sons teacher who I absolutely love also subtly trying to persuade me to keep him off so I'm sorry but it needs to be asked.

I feel like my son needs to go back to school for his own wellbeing and then I get communications from the school making me doubt myself and feel bad for coming to that decision, it's not on.

Masks are to be worn to protect others as is the guidance. Teachers are told not wear PPE. Yet if a child displays symptoms, a manner of staff mist fully PPE up and sit with them in a roll with an open window and a closed door until someone arrives to pick them up. If masks are there to protect others, why are teachers only told to wear them when dealing with a child with symptoms? OP- start utilising critical thinking.

Cheers, @saraclara, you’re a gem Wine

Your post reads like the teachers want to be in school but they don't want the kids there. Which is obviously not the situation. Nobody wants to be unsafe- parents, teachers, kids. Daffodil

Hmm, what a dilemma! How about you don't send them then?

ThrowItInTheBin · 15/05/2020 22:34

The flowers are teachers doing their PA thing when anyone puts something up that could remotely be seen as teacher bashing..... a kind of solidarity thing because they think apparently teachers motives for anything shouldn't be called into question

Look. Teachers are professionals. They're in the job because they like kids. They are NOT going to treat your kids as though they are pariahs. If your DCs go into school, the teachers will want to ensure that they are not scared, not uncomfortable, have a happy day, and are kept as safe as possible.

The very idea that you think that teachers will be grumpy or unpleasant to them, is why people think you are teacher bashing, and why the flowers are flying. Your OP gives the impression that you think teachers are going to treat your child poorly, and that's VERY insulting to those of us in the profession.

I love some copy and paste!

Have a go yourself 😉

Blackdog19 · 15/05/2020 22:37

I like the flower thing. I hope teachers aren’t forced back into teaching when it isn’t safe, especially with children with no concept of social distancing. Daffodil

summerdown · 15/05/2020 22:38

@mumtomaxwell

That’s a pretty horrible post. I totally understand why teachers are worried about how it will all work and rightly have concerns. And maybe it is to early based on the R level. But to suggest parents can’t be bothered to parent their children is just unkind and quite honestly it generates more bad feelings about teachers.

ThrowItInTheBin · 15/05/2020 22:38

@RickOShay and your point is.....? The flowers came about originally from teachers and are now used generally to show solidarity with their terrible plight
