Due to the lockdown, many houses are doing virtual tours.

Who doesn't love Rightmove?

OP posts:
TW2013 · 16/05/2020 07:14

Some of them (especially the glass wall one) look as if they applied to Homes and Gardens but were turned down so decided to list their house on rightmove just to get some attention.

NOTANUM · 16/05/2020 09:05

The Sutton Caulfield one has a full games arcade!!

AlltheLemurs · 16/05/2020 09:12

I love Righmove. I am allowed to look at it because we are going to buy after lockdown but I have been looking at fantasy homes as well.

Not sure who would buy a house on the basis of an online viewing. I have viewed the online viewing of the house I do like the best about 10 times but would not stump up £280000 for it without seeing it for real first!

PerfidiousAlbion · 16/05/2020 09:29

Hesus @CherryValanc that house looked quite nice and ordinary at first but then I spotted the sofas downstairs and then couldnt get past all the other ‘Vegas’ style furniture. Those thrones!

Isawamagpie · 16/05/2020 09:41

@CherryValanc

First thing I thought upon seeing the gamble machine room was "oh my god. My very own old school lockdown pub" Grin

How times have changed that bucket list buying includes "musty pub like area"

Honestly considering putting the lottery on. Right now.

PerfidiousAlbion · 16/05/2020 09:45

@StarbucksSmarterSister yes I agree, very soulless but I think theyre used for entertaining as much as living and will be one of five or six homes used in rotation or when needed. Hopefully they’d have a cosy place somewhere else. God, imagine all the walking you’d have to do to get around houses that size!

Wilmalovescake · 16/05/2020 10:00

Ohhhh I could lose a lot of time here Grin

This would make a nice hotel (with a shed load of money spent)

Not sure why this eclectic beauty hasn't sold in Glasgow area

Luaa · 16/05/2020 10:20

Inspired by this thread to do some rightmove browsing to see what I could get nearish me if I was ruch. Well now I need to win the lottery tonight because I really want this house!

I actually think video tours should be a standard feature on all the listings.

It tells you a bit more than the photos when you get a 360 view.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 16/05/2020 10:29

£1million will get you a shoebox around here.

Years ago dh wanted to buy a property in Sandbanks & I said no. It was before the prices spiked. He’s not let me forget it.

Doowop20 · 16/05/2020 10:32

I have been browsing houses in the Scottish highlands. I am the other end of the UK so not likely I will actually move but it’s nice to dream.

TSSDNCOP · 16/05/2020 10:41

The Lancaster Gate do-er upper could be marvellous. How many bathrooms would you need for 60 beds do you reckon. Has it a garden?

NOTANUM · 16/05/2020 10:42

The Torquay one is amazing but 3 million is a lot for the area. It's been on sale almost a year so the market seems to agree.

GreyGardens88 · 16/05/2020 10:44

My favourite pastime when I'm relaxing on the internet is pretending I've won a windfall on the premium bonds/lottery and googling houses to buy and imagining myself living in them

Sad! lol

TwinMumSuperHero · 16/05/2020 10:47

If I'm spending £11 million, I'd at least want a pool and a hot tub Grin
Mind you, the open plan living space is almost twice the size of my house

Allington · 16/05/2020 10:49

You learn something new every day. Thanks to the Glasgow area listing I now know that you can get tartan carpets. That had never occurred to me before...

Allington · 16/05/2020 10:51

I love the way the first few photos of all of these are fairly neutral, then by about photo 5 or 6 the true weirdness suddenly bursts out!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 16/05/2020 11:00

Also I like that the station distances are still on there, as if someone with enough cash to buy a £25m house needs to a short walk to the jubilee line.

This information will be pulled by a data feed. Do you really think some poor content manager is poring over each individual listing pondering whether the potential buyers for that property will be interested in the transport information?

In any case, that property is a 60-bed former hotel. The chances are it will be redeveloped into apartments. I’d think details of the nearest Tube station would actually be pretty damn important if you’re going to be investing in, advertising and hopefully selling a major redevelopment.

TSSDNCOP · 16/05/2020 11:04

I think the humour whizzed roughy past ya there @StillCoughingandLaughing Wink

TwentyViginti · 16/05/2020 11:10

Oh I dunno. Can't see myself in these ultra modern places. Can anyone find me an ancient dwelling? Anywhere in UK, from cottage to mansion. price no object (so vulgar to discuss money).

cinnabarmoth · 16/05/2020 11:20

@Luaa as soon as I saw that house I thought "must be Torquay". I used to live about 5 mins down the road from Thatcher Avenue, and my ex's sister lived in a flat there in a house very much like that one - I visited once and the rest of the house was lived in by an elderly lady who had crammed the place full of of those china spaniels, they were everywhere.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 16/05/2020 11:24

AH I've found my people Gin

I adore looking at Rightmove just so I can look in to other people's houses.

topcat2014 · 16/05/2020 11:41

Don't forget primelocation or onthemarket for a bit of variety.

Particularly niche - I like looking at commercial property too!
