FFS even women's running trousers are all about being sexy

I've just Google's women's running trousers and the first page is all skin tight fucking barely more than tights. So we have to look attractive while running as well?

I'm feeling very hormonal so fully accept I'm being ggrrrrr. But honestly.

Can anyone recommend me something I can run in that doesn't show my shape please ?

And for the police, AIBU to be pissed of at that ^

No I'm not.

Well you’re looking for tracksuit bottoms, not ‘running trousers’. It’s more practical to run in skin tight leg wear, less chafing and flapping. I’m a fat git and I know that

PhoneLock · 14/05/2020 16:40

I find skin tight practical for running.

Nicknacky · 14/05/2020 16:40

Tight leggings are presumably easier for running. I don’t think about sexiness when I’m wearing them.

I assume you have missed some words regarding “police”?

PurpleDaisies · 14/05/2020 16:41

I prefer wearing Lycra running kit because it stays up and it’s more comfortable. Nothing to do with being attractive.

lotusbell · 14/05/2020 16:42

I look like a blue sausage in my leggings, nowt sexy about it!

ElderflowerPotion · 14/05/2020 16:43

Honestly, much more comfortable wearing skin tight for any high intensity exercises.

Why not just pair it with an oversized T-shirt?

TheProvincialLady · 14/05/2020 16:43

My Facebook advertising is full of women’s arses in close up. Because the most important feature of exercise clothes is how they make your arse look.

I don’t even wear leggings and nor am I a lesbian, so heaven knows why FB thinks I want to see 30 arse close ups a day.

TheChippendenSpook · 14/05/2020 16:44

Lyrca is definitely better for running in than jogging trousers.

Nickynacky I think she meant the thread police as she had posted her rant in AIBU. Smile

willywillywillywilly · 14/05/2020 16:45

Leggings are best I agree. Try Flanci as they have loads of patterns so it breaks up the sausage effect on the eye, and also they are not too tight. They have a massive pocket and a proper drawstring waist so they don't fall down either :)

cologne4711 · 14/05/2020 16:45

Normal running kit is fine. I don't like the flesh coloured leggings that hug your bottom and make it look like you've nothing on, though. Or indeed any leggings which make your bottom look huge.

cologne4711 · 14/05/2020 16:46

But anyway if you want nice leggings look at Tikiboo.

arethereanyleftatall · 14/05/2020 16:46

Well, um running trousers are tight. That's the point of them. Comfortable for running. If you want tracksuit bottoms, search for that. Yabu.

Nicknacky · 14/05/2020 16:46

TheChippendenSpook Or “fashion”? Either that, or there is a rant we are missing out on about the police!

Shinyletsbebadguys · 14/05/2020 16:46

Yep nothing sexy in my running leggings but they are skin tight because it's a lot easier and more comfortable to run in. I empathise with the hormonal (I am too currently) but the general use is for comfort not sexy (although clearly men taking the photos with the bum raise in the air .....)

VeraorHolly · 14/05/2020 16:46

Tights are more comfortable for almost all sports, even yoga. i have some old style yoga trousers with flappy ankles (trouser style) and they drive me crazy now that I am used to tights. I used to wear the flappy ankle ones all the time.

We're all wearing tights OP. It is lockdown style. Embrace your shape and get comfy.

Confuzzled123 · 14/05/2020 16:46

I have to admit I’m fat and don’t go running but what do men’s running trousers look like? Are they the same?

If they are different could you buy men’s trousers?

Michaelbaubles · 14/05/2020 16:47

Running in flappy trousers is really fucking annoying, hence the skin tightness. Men’s running leggings are basically the same, or they wear shorts. Most runners don’t like to wear tracksuit bottoms, but they’re pretty widely available if you want some.

I’m pretty alert to everyday sexism, but I don’t think this is one of them. There’s tonnes of practical, plain, well-fitted sport wear for women now.

littlepeas · 14/05/2020 16:47

Leggings are practical! I agree some of the advertising is ‘sexy’ but the leggings themselves are the most practical thing to wear for exercise.

Nicknacky · 14/05/2020 16:47

Most men I see at this time or year are in shorts but during the winter they are generally wearing running tights too.

mynameiscalypso · 14/05/2020 16:48

Men's running trousers are also skin tight. They are also not sexy.

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2020 16:48

Unfortunatly, if they aren't tight, the seams rub when you run longer distances. There are a range of things to not show your bum though - skorts, skapris, or running skirts (which I am currently in love with as I can wear any length item underneath)

SoupDragon · 14/05/2020 16:49

When I google them, men's and women's are pretty much the same mix of tights/leggings and looser ones.

iVampire · 14/05/2020 16:49

Men wear running tights too - their predominance is not a female only issue. It’s a very practical performance garment, especially for distance runners

If however you want looser fitting, you can try somewhere like Decathlon (in the general cardio sections, rather than running)

IIRC some Ronhills are straight fitting.

The only others I can think of with wicking fabric are US brands
