FFS even women's running trousers are all about being sexy

I've just Google's women's running trousers and the first page is all skin tight fucking barely more than tights. So we have to look attractive while running as well?

I'm feeling very hormonal so fully accept I'm being ggrrrrr. But honestly.

Can anyone recommend me something I can run in that doesn't show my shape please ?

And for the police, AIBU to be pissed of at that ^

No I'm not.

No, I wouldn't, damnthatanxiety, as I clearly have worn bras for years. I haven't bought running trousers before.

Bloody hell, only on an innocuous thread about gym gear can you get attacked.

And I like running but I'm still new. Fucks sake.

I've currently got a scar healing on my inner thigh because I forgot that an inside leg seam was split on my leggings until it was too late into a run. You really do not want chaffing aka friction burns. Skin tight leggings/ shorts tend to be the best garments to prevent that pain.

Nicknacky · 14/05/2020 17:52

TheChippendenSpook Thank goodness I don’t wear one anymore then 😉

SunshineCake · 14/05/2020 17:54

Thanks mostly everyone. I have got at least two potential options.

I always used to run in old school trousers and then switched to running tights. It is so much easier I couldn't believe it! Could never go back now.

TheChippendenSpook · 14/05/2020 18:07

Nickynacky I bet you are relieved about that! Wink

Sirzy · 14/05/2020 18:09

Me and my partner have been known to wear each other’s (plain black) running tights before now. I have just ordered myself some Lucy Locket Loves ones that I don’t think he will be as keen on borrowing but that certainly don’t fall into a sexy category!

randomsabreuse · 14/05/2020 18:29

Running tights are definitely more comfortable. The mesh cooling definitely has its use too, especially in my not small size because I need length to prevent chafing but definitely appreciate cooling on outer edges because running is hot!

Main priority on running tights is staying up, not what they look like!

I have also had the inseam on a pair of tights give up. The 20 minute walk home was sore!

redwinefine · 14/05/2020 18:32

tight are better for running (as PP have said) but my main peeve is the lack of pockets for a key/ phone so I have to hold one in each hand while running. V offputting!

LycraLovingLass · 14/05/2020 18:36

@redwinefine my basic leggibgs from ASOS have a side phone pocket and a key pocket in the waistband and stay up and have mesh cooling. They cost about 23 quid.

PhoneLock · 14/05/2020 18:41

I don't mind holding my phone in my hand. I don't bother with keys.

Talulahoopla · 14/05/2020 18:41

Definitely leggings! Can't say I've ever noticed what anyone looks like when I'm out running so wouldn't worry.

Just make sure you buy leggings made for running/running tights. I once did a run in gym leggings (pattern matched the theme of the charity race) and massively overheated as they're not made for running. Never made that mistake again!

JellyfishandShells · 14/05/2020 18:43

Running trousers ? Google did well to give you the correct images of Lycra leggings, which is what is used for running and all kinds of sports. Have you beamed in from another time, OP ? Have just changed out of my sports leggings after a bike ride - wasn’t trying to look sexy and didn’t.

MikeUniformMike · 14/05/2020 18:43

Ronhill tracksters.

caramac04 · 14/05/2020 18:45

I used to wear Adidas track pants before I felt confident to wear Lycra leggings. I’d never go back to track pants. I don’t look sexy in Lycra and many of us don’t but I don’t care.

flabbyflabbyflabguts · 14/05/2020 18:45

I really don't look sexy running. Red faced, sweaty, frowning - even when I'm actually enjoying it - and breathing like a galloping rhino

enjoyingscience · 14/05/2020 18:46

Definitely recommend the shorts/legging combo if you’re self conscious.

flabbyflabbyflabguts · 14/05/2020 18:46

I like brightly patterned leggings, but nit too pale a colour, other wise crotch sweat shows

PhoneLock · 14/05/2020 18:48

I must admit that I just wear the same leggings that I wear for the gym. I chopped the legs off below the knee to stop me overheating.

MaggieAndHopey · 14/05/2020 18:48

I do think that running shorts tend to be a lot shorter for women than for men. In the summer I wear men's running shorts because they come down to mid thigh rather than somewhere around the knicker line.

Redskylark · 14/05/2020 18:49

I wish baggy trousers were more practical for running, I hate wearing skin tight leggings but its necessary

HotPinkLilies · 14/05/2020 18:51

What on earth are running trousers??

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2020 18:54

For anyone with pocket problems, I can't recommend a flip belt thing enough. It keeps everything tight to you so it doesn't flap or bounce annoyingly. I have both an actual flip belt, and one from Gins running stitch which takes a larger phone and is a bit more pockety

Redcrayons · 14/05/2020 18:55

@HotPinkLilies er, trousers you go running in. Otherwise known as leggings/tights.

midwestsummer · 14/05/2020 19:00

DH wears running tights, they aren't sexy.
