Hopefully a bit of an uplifting thread where we can focus on the positives among the many negatives.

I've managed to learn how to do a handstand! I've never in my life been able to do one, even as a child but I can now after many many fails.

Anyone else managed to achieve anything? Small or big

Have lost 17lb so far. Still working FT as usual.

DP and I have emptied/sorted the shed and finally unpacked everything (moved in 12 months ago).

Successfully negotiated a (very much deserved) £4K pay rise.

Have realised how lucky we are to live in the countryside and am properly grateful for that instead of taking it so much for granted

Bluewavescrashing · 13/05/2020 19:25

Read one book
Supervised DH decorating the kitchen (painting ceilings and walls) and laying decking in the garden
Home schooled 2 x children successfully
Learned to bake bread and produced two tasty loaves
Decluttered one scooter, two bags of children's clothes and old bath toys
Deep cleaned children's bedrooms
Decluttered utility room and reorganised craft cupboard
Completed training for work
Worked on the rota (I'm a key worker)

Fluffybutter · 13/05/2020 19:25

Oh oh .. AND I can now make the perfect Aperol spritz.. pretty lame really but I’m wfh and helping dd with school work

FusionChefGeoff · 13/05/2020 19:26

Ive done done some ace new recipes from scratch for the first time eg quiche, flatbreads, hummus, tabbouleh, chapatti bread, raita etc

And I have finally got upper body definition including proper shoulders!! Doing a fuck tonne of yoga and HIIT which is making a massive difference to my shape. Not my weight though - see point 1 above Grin

bananachocolatepancake · 13/05/2020 19:28

Wow I loved reading through all of these! Achievement/things you're proud of etc all count. And well done to everyone juggling work/home schooling etc - that sounds hellish.

@Purplegorilla this video really helped me!

I haven't killed my DH. I'm taking that!

bananachocolatepancake · 13/05/2020 19:30

@Fluffybutter I will truly NEVER understand what people like about aperol spritz and it really upsets me. Perfect summery drink, lovely colour, everything about it appeals to me and yet, I don't like the taste. Gutted

I haven't killed my kids lost over a stone in weight and I now like couscous

IAmReportingYouForBBQing · 13/05/2020 19:40

Ive decorated ( pain and paper) my bedroom, tackled my roof garden and done lots of replanting etc. Used the time to trawl ebay for bargains and got enough tiles to do my kitchen for £30! I also got a beautiful vintage bedroom suite for £35. I bought a big serious stand mixer and have perfected my pizza base recipe and the kids LOVE it. My youngest (11) has learned to use the sewing machine and is starting her first proper pattern in the morning.

Biggest achievement is surviving. With me shielding, 4 kids and a husband its been tough but we are into it now and feeling positive.

BillyAndTheSillies · 13/05/2020 19:40

I've done some cross stitch projects for the first time since primary school, so about 20 years.

Found time to actually cook, and use the day to do it rather than rushing once DH gets home from work and can mind the kids for me.

Went back to low carb and lost 10lbs in the last two weeks. DS2 is 7 months old and I'm a stone heavier than when I had him (and was already overweight when I got pregnant). Not having the temptation of endless trips to coffee shops and trips to the pub of an evening or lots of client dinners with DH I've managed to get back in to the swing of things.

I wish my achievement could have been helping DS1 get over the jealousy of his new baby brother but that's not happened - yet! I will continue to persevere.

sociallydistained · 13/05/2020 19:40

I've lost some weight, definitely got fitter. Re-watched all of the marvel films and almost finished watching all of the Sopranos for the first time Grin
I've also done some serious reading and got through some big books in days. I'm on Book 20 of the year.

Can I just say... I have no kids! Anyone who is has children. You just keeping them going through this is an achievement.

ShinyMe · 13/05/2020 19:41

I have grown some impressive armpit hair.

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 13/05/2020 19:43

Bugger all really.

Haven’t lost my job yet, despite doing it while looking after two primary aged children.

Not murdered exh for bailing on my constantly re his contact time.

karigan · 13/05/2020 19:45

I've finally sorted out my budgets since March and for the first time in years managed to put some savings away each month since then.

Also I've kept the weight loss I started in January going even after the gym closed and whilst it's slowed down a bit in still losing a pound or two a week. Nearly 2 stone down from where I started and back into a size 16 for the first time in years :)

coulddowithashag · 13/05/2020 19:45

I have grown my nails and perfected a french manicure, read three books, lasered my legs, arms, under arms and bikini line and toned my pelvic floor with a kegal machine and no longer piss myself every time I sneeze Grin

CuteOrangeElephant · 13/05/2020 19:51

My cakes have gone from dire to awesome. Unfortunately I can't perfect them any further for the sake of my waistline Grin.

Ellenthegenerous · 13/05/2020 20:01

I have been practicing threading my eyebrows. I have been dyeing them at home for ages. Yesterday I looked like I had two fat slugs on my face. Today, very acceptable shaped eyebrows. Bloody hurt though!

Bargebill19 · 13/05/2020 20:05

Took up sewing. Got a new job.

YeOldeTrout · 13/05/2020 20:07

I am sporting a terrific tan -- especially for early May.

auntiesalli · 13/05/2020 20:07

I have achieved to gain weight and grow grey hair . 😂😂😂

Hippywannabe · 13/05/2020 20:08

Gained ten of the thirty pounds I had lost.
On the plus side, whole house decluttered and cleaned, 6 work related courses completed and I have started to learn Portuguese!

NamesNamesSoManyNames · 13/05/2020 20:13

Managed a massive declutter the first three weeks.
I still have more to go through, but interest is waning and the charity shops are not open. Currently have 10 carriers of "stuff" as I massively downgraded my wardrobe and decided to finally get rid of my DVD collection- I never watch them as I just stream boxsets etc now!

Supersimkin2 · 13/05/2020 20:16

Started the menopause so fast and so vigorously the GP ran round himself with pain pills Grin and then...

Stripped, scrubbed and bleached bathroom, hall, kitchen and balcony garden.

Painted them all, installed new lights, framed and hung new pictures.

150 new lilac and white flowers grown from bulbs, plus herbs etc, to go with new blue and white balcony.

Read final part of Mantel's Cromwell trilogy, all 800 pp of it. That was the worst - it's so heavy it's given me worse RSI than the painting Grin

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 13/05/2020 20:17

Cooking and baking bread! Cooking had turned into an utter chore due to working full time, mad commute, collect dc, dash home, fight over homework while attempting a dinner everyone will bloody eat. And now there's just not the same pressure. I work on a rota system so can prepare in advance and my DP is at home to do some prep for us. I'm back to loving cooking.

Dontlikeoranges · 13/05/2020 20:20

I've learnt about loads of wild flowers and plants. Every day I find something new.
