Hopefully a bit of an uplifting thread where we can focus on the positives among the many negatives.

I've managed to learn how to do a handstand! I've never in my life been able to do one, even as a child but I can now after many many fails.

Anyone else managed to achieve anything? Small or big

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 13/05/2020 21:28

Finished a theology course and passed
Lost 10lbs
Exercised every day
Learnt how to do all sorts of new tech things like zoom
Created a Facebook page for the charity I work for.
Created original posts (with original graphics and art work) for FB page
Filmed, edited and animated a short film for the charity where I fufil my dream of being a presenter! I would never have done that if it weren't for lockdown!
Read three books
Planted a gardening patch
Marie Kondo-ed the shed
Done all the washing, planned all the meals and kept on top of all the house work all the time
My children have had a positive experience of lockdown - lots of walks, playing games, baking and having fun together
Made some new friends through a zoom pub quiz

Acidrain · 13/05/2020 21:29

Managed to get my 2 year old to consistently stay in his own bed all night, which is a big win for us and I've started using making a hanging for my wall out of wool and a loom

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 13/05/2020 21:32

I gained a stone! - nope, not into my garden or water feature.
It is pure fat! Hmm - terrible! Sad - and I didnt need any Grin

gingganggooleywotsit · 13/05/2020 21:33

Painted the garden fence, redecorated my daughter's bedroom, taught my little boy to ride a bike.

Standupthisisnotateaparty · 13/05/2020 21:38

Iv lost nearly two stone so far. My biggest thing though is bonding with my little 2year old. I had awful PND and when he was a baby and then back in work full time and it effected our relationship. I always felt like I was really trying so hard and while he seemed to like mummy he has always favoured daddy. If he fell over upset etc it’s was always dad. He would scream for me and I had to give him to daddy.. Iv had seven weeks of us together playing, hanging out, being silly and now when I get him up in the morning he says ‘muuuummmmmy’ with a big smile rather than just ask for dada. He still as cuddly with dada and is as happy to see him. I don’t feel Iv taken anything away from them, it’s just added to us. It’s been lovely.

Standupthisisnotateaparty · 13/05/2020 21:39

Scream for dad

Chocolateandamaretto · 13/05/2020 21:39

I have been slowly clearing the allotment I acquired in March and putting plants in. Not finished yet but ever time I go and clear a bit more feels like an achievement!
Slowly upped my running mileage again after a nasty foot injury.
Finally finished The Grapes of Wrath (had been on pg 80 for months!)

FizzyPink · 13/05/2020 21:41

I’ve finally persuaded DP to try some more adventurous recipes and he’s actually liked some!
Plus got over my fear of epilating my underarms and realised I can get an extremely close shave on the little hair I have on my bikini line with DP’s new hair clippers so that’ll save me a small fortune

jess3817 · 13/05/2020 21:46

Done a lot more running than I use to.
Taken up yoga and I love it.
Sprung cleaned the house including all cupboards, drawers, loft etc.
Not drank any alcohol for 71 days.
Attempted home school and haven't had a break down over it 😂 the kids have been great actually

Wynston · 13/05/2020 21:50

Painted the black beams in the living room white.....looks so much brighter.
My eldest ds has pretty much cracked reading (i feel he was behind and ive been able to really get a hold of it)
The garden is looking tidier.
I now only use the washing machine every other day.
Both dc can now ride their bikes....
Ive gained weight but have been eating a lot better.....i blame the alcohol!!

LightenUpSummer · 13/05/2020 21:55

I sorted out my spice tin

But more importantly I've learned how to reduce my emotional flashbacks from childhood ptsd. Not there yet, but I'm able to recognise them, and the impact they have on me every day. Absolutely life changing. I started with the Crappy Childhood Fairy on youtube then graduated onto Richard Grannon - he has his critics but my god it feels like a new beginning.

NoHardSell · 13/05/2020 22:00

This is insightful! All I have done is work. Morning. Afternoon. Evening. I am exhausted. I can see why people are enjoying lockdown having read this. It sounds soothing. I am on the edge of a breakdown. It's weird to read how different your lives are.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 13/05/2020 22:05

Redecorated dd's bedroom
Cleared out my entire wardrobe
Kind of kept a lockdown diary
Cleared out the games cupboard
Cleared the bathroom shelves
Taught myself to wax my own eyebrows
Learned how to lose weight my way
Started Just Dance and Fitness Blender
Created a vegetable patch in the garden
Walked 7k-15k steps a day
Read a lot of books
Did a lot of zoom quizzes
Tried to home educate 3 kids
Baked a lot of cakes
Recruited a new team member via zoom
Finished 2 work projects
Re-bonded with my teen ds
Taught ds11 how to shave

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/05/2020 22:05

I have really soft elbows. I never make the time to pamper myself, but now I'm always having baths and exfoliating and moisturising.

ChaToilLeam · 13/05/2020 22:08

Walked miles and discovered lots of interesting local paths and landmarks
Learned basics of Gaelic
Started sewing again
Started playing music again
Attempted decluttering but getting rid of the stuff is hard
Learned some new recipes
Cleared up the patio and planted some flowers

We’re skint and fed up but making the best of things. This lockdown would be a lot easier without the money worries.

waterandlemonjuice · 13/05/2020 22:10

I’ve

Lost 7lbs
Cut back on alcohol
Walked more often
Organised some family evenings with the children
Hung bunting
Slept a lot
Quite a lot of self care: body lotion, face masks etc

user2085375632 · 13/05/2020 22:11

My daughter is having OT and we’ve taught her how to do a thumbs up.

I’ve potty trained two children (one 3.5 and one 22m) and I’ve learnt how to French plait.

WarmSausageTea · 13/05/2020 22:11

Found a local company that supplies food to restaurants, but are now delivering to personal customers. Have made three orders, all local produce, and I’m hoping they’ll keep personal customers in the future.
Sorted eight boxes of stuff for the charity shop - though I’m sure they will be inundated after lockdown ends, so I’ll check with them before taking.
Sorted two boxes of books for a family member’s monthly (in normal times) charity book sale.
Read one book on kindle. (Should do more.)
Organised my mother’s CDs ready to go onto her iPod.
Started organising clothes.
Rang the local church bells for VE Day.
Restarted Duolingo to improve my French.

DP is growing things; tomatoes, cucumbers, gherkins, chillies, celtuce, pumpkin and scorzonera.

Motivation can be in short supply, but because I’m naturally lazy, I’m trying hard to avoid watching terrible TV all day.

Simonfromharlow · 13/05/2020 22:12

Made a baby blanket.

WarmSausageTea · 13/05/2020 22:12

Lovely idea for a thread, OP.

PissedOffProf · 13/05/2020 22:13

Did not kill my husband.

I think I should get a medal.

Babz88 · 13/05/2020 22:13

Have helped my 5 year old to read fluently, he was put on the sen register earlier this year ( by far my biggest achievement)

My 5 year old can now ride his bike without stabilisers

I passed my pgce in primary and early years education, and done lots of Cpd at home

Been quite successful in homeschooling my boys

I’ve saved so much money too, I wasted so much before

Sparrowlegs248 · 13/05/2020 22:15

Single handedly kept a 3 and 4 yr old alive, while wfh, without too many tears or shouts. Deserve a medal, I do.

CrochetBug · 13/05/2020 22:16

Fixed my washing machine AND my dishwasher.
Crocheted my first ever piece of clothing. Other than hats, scarves and gloves.

CoronaIsComing · 13/05/2020 22:19

I’m learning Spanish and I’ve finally come to appreciate where I live (except we’re moving at the end of the month 😂).
