Hopefully a bit of an uplifting thread where we can focus on the positives among the many negatives.

I've managed to learn how to do a handstand! I've never in my life been able to do one, even as a child but I can now after many many fails.

Anyone else managed to achieve anything? Small or big

Couch to 5k completed, calorie counting and have lost over a stone.

I have found 2 short courses I want to complete over the next week or two, am also going to start 10K training

RyanBergarasTeeth · 15/05/2020 22:33

I drew a comic strip that got about 8 likes on facebook lol. I have ordered new skin cream so when it arrives i can actually start a real skin care regime. I wrote out my bucket list although i cant do a damn thing on it until lockdowns over. Ive started a book but havent finished it yet.

Methtones · 15/05/2020 22:35

I've cleared the debt I've been paying off for years - not spending on rubbish or petrol. And that's while on 80% pay.

lovinglavidaloca · 15/05/2020 22:42

Well done @Methtones bet that’s an absolute weight off your mind!

Methtones · 15/05/2020 22:43

I'm delighted! Now I just need to keep sticking to my budget going forward!

RyanBergarasTeeth · 15/05/2020 22:58

@Methtones thats a great one well done! Ive managed to get my current debt down to £100 which i hope to pay off after next payday. Which is great because once lockdown lifts i need a clear credit card to buy a car.

RoscoePColtrane · 15/05/2020 22:59

8 weeks ago I had a huge list of things I wanted to achieve, but then ended up going into work every single sodding day, so list remains undone!! Other than sorting out the understairs cupboard, which I did do and has made me v happy.

Angelik · 15/05/2020 23:00

Not smoked for 39 days and learning to knit.

After emotional bedtime with dc I now have to take proper lunch breaks with them and finish work at 5pm. We are starting to struggle with lock down. My heart hurts for them. Sorry this was meant to be positive thread

GettingAntsy · 15/05/2020 23:30

Progressed from struggling to jog for 20 minutes to comfortably jogging for 30 minutes.

Written 9,000 words of my novel-in-progress.

  • Set up a community mutual aid project.
  • Taught myself a couple of embroidery stitches
  • 33 days streak on Duolingo (Swedish)
  • Partially organised both the garage and greenhouse. Tip run required to complete both.
samandpoppysmummy · 16/05/2020 09:32

I've been relearning French (35 years after I last studied it at school). I am using the DuoLingo app for half an hour every day and have amazed myself at how much I can now speak and understand.

BillywilliamV · 16/05/2020 09:36

I feel like I have reconnected with DH, we are both wfh but no commuting so much less tired and grumpy. Also we walk together which is lovely, I hope we can keep on doing it once the lockdown ends.
He's back playing golf today , bless him.. so excited!

Natsku · 16/05/2020 21:48

I tried learning how to cut hair. OH looks like a convict now... but it made me laugh so I count that as an achievement.

randomchap · 16/05/2020 21:51

Stopped trimming my nasal hair and discovered it's now white.

Piratetree · 17/05/2020 16:20

Thank you @KisstheTeapot14 Smile

OneOfTheGrundys · 17/05/2020 16:23

These are awesome!
I’ve got better at running, up past 10k now.
Weaned myself down to lower dose of anti depressants. Taken off one third of the dose 👍.
Trying to lose some weight now. It’s fair to say I have a good bit on junk in the truck.

Thurlow · 17/05/2020 16:25

DH and I just removed our old washing machine and installed a new one and IT WORKS. We've been without one for 8 weeks on the hope installation would be allowed again but bit the bullet. We are the least practical people ever so feeling a bit Hear Me Roar at the moment Grin

galaxybuttons · 17/05/2020 19:06

I completed all of my annual stat mand training by 2nd April!

torthecatlady · 17/05/2020 20:09

I've cut the grass again today and cut the edges too, swept the paving slabs etc. Dh started de-weeding the flowerbed but gave up. I'm going to be potting some flowers tomorrow even though I'll end up killing them in the front garden.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 20:25

I cut hair today. 🥇

LakieLady · 17/05/2020 20:29

Raised £150k for local charities - writing bids pro bono - v. proud of
this

That's an amazing achievement!

I've cleared a very overgrown flower bed and it's no longer covered in ivy and brambles. I've rediscovered a rather pretty brick path laid mby the previous owners.

I've lost a couple of pounds, but my blubber appears to have migrated from my arse and thighs to my middle, which is harder to conceal. I may have to do some exercises to get rid of it, or at least shift it to somewhere where it's less noticable.

Any suggestions of exercises for a spare tyre welcome.

See99 · 17/05/2020 20:36

Bizarrely I have managed to completely come off my anxiety Medication that I have been taking for 3 years.

cologne4711 · 17/05/2020 20:40

Blimey I feel completely inadequate. I have achieved precisely zero.

I have got slower running, despite only running slightly less than I did pre-lockdown and doing indoor cycling instead of swimming and all the incidental walking I did.

I guess not putting on weight is an achievement?

I don't know how many of you manage such long walks - alone, or with family, I just find the constant people dodging such a chore. DH has given up going out altogether for that reason other than if he needs to shop and either gardens or indoor cycles for exercise. The garden looks quite nice but that's down to him, I don't do gardening.

Completed 3 online courses as part of my CPD ok I've done a few Futurelearn courses and a couple of other courses too

Rainbow · 20/05/2020 07:25

I'm loving these achieve is. DS4 is 9yo. He has a condition which effects his coordination. He has learnt to ride a bike.
