Currently struggling to find a tidal entrance song which is acceptable and not cringe!

I really like thousand years but worry it will be associated with Twilight!!

AIBU to ask what your bridal entrance song was!

What’s acceptable will depend on where you’re getting married.

If UK and you’re getting married in a church you’ll need to run choices past the vicar I think? There may be individual rules according to particular places of worship.

If it’s a civil ceremony you need to get the registrar to approve your choices. Neither the music nor readings can be religious in nature in this case - so you wouldn’t be able to have Ave Maria or whatever. Some classical music would fall under this category. Depending on the particular registrar will determine how strictly they interpret the no religious content rule - so some will be fine with ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams or ‘God Only Knows’ by the Beach Boys as they’ll say that whilst the word Angel/God is present in the song it’s not being used in a religious context, some might allow the instrumental version but not the lyrics, and some will say absolutely not. We considered having my niece sing ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ during the ceremony and was told by our registrar it would be fine, as though it mentioned Christmas it wasn’t a religious song. We wouldn’t have been allowed a Christmas carol though for example. Another registrar may have interpreted it differently. (In the end she preferred to sing in the evening after a few drinks for courage!!)

We walked in to the theme song from Gladiator

I misread this and was confused about why anyone would walk down the aisle to the theme tune from Gladiators, the TV show!

I walked down the aisle to a string quartet version of Tonight Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins. We left to Etta James At Last as we took a while to get around to getting married and we thought it would be fun but also nice.

LiGlitterBug · 11/05/2020 12:32

Had Madness- It Must Be Love and Beach Boys- Wouldn’t it Be Nice while guests waited.
Walked down to a cello version of Tale As Old as Time.
Signed the register to I See the Light
Walked out to The Tams- Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy

First dance was a minute of Ben Folds- The Luckiest and then Hall & Oates- You Make My Dreams Come True

Still love those songs now!

Wtfdidwedo · 11/05/2020 12:36

@LiGlitterBug I think you may be my long lost twin as I had a combination of all of those songs in my wedding except for Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy!

EatCakeBeMerry · 11/05/2020 12:43

I walked to the Piano Guys Arwen’s vigil. I couldn’t decide on a song with lyrics but this piece of music still sends shivers down my spine. Utterly beautiful piece of music

EatCakeBeMerry · 11/05/2020 12:45

Also we found them and our song choice when looking for a no lyric version of a thousand years but I couldn’t get passed the association with Twilight

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 11/05/2020 12:51

@mynameisMrG - we walked out to the Main Theme from Star Wars!

fassnk · 11/05/2020 12:51

I walked down the aisle to 'Be Mine' by David Grey

Nifflerbowtruckle · 11/05/2020 12:51

I walked down the aisle to a thousand years but the instrumental version by the piano guys. We left to the power of love Grin

mogtheexcellent · 11/05/2020 12:58

Church wedding. I had the here comes the bride music because I had no idea what to choose. I wanted to walk out to hear comes the sun on guitar but was out voted.

mrsgtobe97 · 11/05/2020 13:00

Not married yet but planning on walking down to Feels like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk, the song from my sisters keeper but very good lyrics! Xx

Sn0tnose · 11/05/2020 13:00

We’ve been to two weddings in the last two years that have had a Thousand Years. The first was for one of my best friends and it was just perfect for them and the whole day. It was beautiful and emotional. It wasn’t Twighlighty at all. The second was for DH’s cousin and simply reminded me of how lovely my friend’s wedding had been, as it does every time I hear it now.

stellabelle · 11/05/2020 13:03

I walked in to "I Do, I Do, I Do" by ABBA.

Giespeace · 11/05/2020 13:05

@stellabelle
I almost picked that! Such a great tune Grin

NowSissyThatWalk · 11/05/2020 13:08

Walked down the aisle to this..it's absolutely stunning, and has lots of different waves to it. My bridesmaids walked down to each start of the piano sections and I came in at the key change like the drama queen I am.

Strokethefurrywall · 11/05/2020 13:09

Walked down the the aisle to the instrumental version of Kissing You by Desiree from Romeo & Juliet, and walked back down the aisle to Signed Sealed Delivered by Stevie Wonder.

Register signing was Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole and first dance was You & Me by Lifehouse.

Can't believe I remembered all that!

imhereforthecake · 11/05/2020 13:11

Ellie Golding how long will I love you Smile

grumpyorange · 11/05/2020 13:13

@Nifflerbowtruckle power of love is another option for us!

At the moment we're going out to an acoustic cover of stand by me

Music from the Royal Fireworks by Handel.

My husband and I realised about 3 weeks into our relationship that we can whistle the main tune in harmony, so it held special significance for us.

Piglet89 · 11/05/2020 13:14

I know, we’re absolute geeks.

SingingSands · 11/05/2020 13:16

I had a piper play "Highland Cathedral". My mum picked it. Traditional, but suited the venue and I do like it.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 11/05/2020 13:16

Fairly traditional, walked in to Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring, lovely piece of music and not used too often, and out to Prince of Denmark's March.

minettechatouette · 11/05/2020 13:17

We had the bridal march from Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream. I think it's a popular choice if you want something traditional that is the Wagner wedding march (which... just no).

Iseeareddoor · 11/05/2020 13:18

Walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

Walked out to In My Life by the Beatles.

We had a string quartet. They played beautifully.

bronzedgoddessORabronzedturkey · 11/05/2020 13:19

We had 'When I fall in love' , Nat King Cole - still makes me smile thinking of it!
