Currently struggling to find a tidal entrance song which is acceptable and not cringe!

I really like thousand years but worry it will be associated with Twilight!!

AIBU to ask what your bridal entrance song was!

Vitamin String Quartet do lovely (string obviously) versions of 100s of songs, they’re on Spotify and we used their songs:

Pictures of You (The Cure) for entrance
Today (Smashing Pumpkins), Wouldn’t it be nice? (Beach Boys) and Don’t stop believin’ (Journey) for signing the register.
Here comes your man (Pixies) for exit

Herecomestreble1 · 11/05/2020 12:06

Orchestral version of I've been loving you too long by Otis Redding

Wtfdidwedo · 11/05/2020 12:07

I think it's probably faded out of popularity a bit now! There was a time when Thousand Years and All of You were probably played at most weddings Grin

Ughmaybenot · 11/05/2020 12:07

Pachelbels canon in D was my entrance music, it’s a beautiful piece of music, and very traditional.
Our first dance was simple by Florida Georgia line, followed by ain’t nothing bout you by brooks and Dunn. Both a bit more niche!

NotPayingAttention · 11/05/2020 12:07

We had Hoppipolla by Rigur Ros as it is special to us and it's grand enough sounding for a big entrance Grin

1point21gigawatts · 11/05/2020 12:07

We had Ludovico Einaudi's I Jiorni to walk in. But also had I'm Kissing You by Desree from Baz Lurhman's Romeo and Juliette while signing the register and then we walked out to The You and Me song by the Wannadies.

This has probably dated really badly, but at the time these were quite cool choices 😆

CuteOrangeElephant · 11/05/2020 12:08

Walked in on Flowers in the window by Travis, though didn't realize that the video clip features pregnant women so some guests were speculating Grin.

During the signing we played Sometimes by James.

We walked out on Another Day by Jamie Lidell.

pinkrocker · 11/05/2020 12:09

I used to be a wedding planner in Cyprus and the favourites at that time were the theme from Braveheart, From This Moment and In My Life by the Beatles. Hardly anyone chose traditional wedding music, was such a great job!

Bobbiepin · 11/05/2020 12:10

Walked in to des'ree kissing you, walked out to Beatles all you need is love and first dance was Bob Marley Is this love.

ApocalypseNowt · 11/05/2020 12:10

We used an orchestral version of Whiter Shade of Pale

CuteOrangeElephant · 11/05/2020 12:10

@1point21gigawatts

Those are excellent choices that I considered but I got overruled by my husband. Only got married 3 and a bit years ago too so either the songs have not aged badly at all or my taste is a bit old-fashioned Grin

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 11/05/2020 12:11

I walked in to the Prince of Denmark’s March, it’s traditional and my DH is Danish. We walked out to Ain’t Nobody, the new version.
Our first dance was Dolly Parton Together You and I because it summed up some of the difficult things we went through before we got married. It still makes me cry every time I hear it.

Starstruck2020 · 11/05/2020 12:11

We walked in to the theme song from Gladiator- “now we are free”

daisydaisydoodle · 11/05/2020 12:13

I picked a thousand years and had never seen twilight. I found out after I picked it but then I decided to go with it anyway.

LEELULUMPKIN · 11/05/2020 12:13

I walked down the aisle to The Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke. We had a trumpeter and it sounded magnificent, I still get chills when I hear it.

Jammydodger1981 · 11/05/2020 12:14

I walked in to a version of Songbird but I can’t remember who it was by now, it wasn’t Eva Cassidy or Fleetwood Mac. We walked out to Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, I’d heard it in the film 50 first dates and loved it.

Plaitandcurl · 11/05/2020 12:17

I love these!!
Sound of music, hoppipolla etc omg just fantastic!
I’d love to use Hoppipolla but it makes me cry! Blush

LajesticVantrashell · 11/05/2020 12:17

I had a VERY long aisle (got married abroad) so walked in to The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel and out to Ooh Ahh Just A Little Bit by Gina G (a play on my new married name)

CoffeeBeansGalore · 11/05/2020 12:20

We eloped so didn't have "a song" as such. But in the car after the ceremony the radio was playing Everything I do, I do it for you by Bryan Adams. I love this song anyway but when I hear it, I'm back to that moment looking at my wedding ring & thinking "I'm Married!!!"

CakeCakeCake21 · 11/05/2020 12:21

Walked down the aisle to Handel’s water music
First dance to the Zombies’ This Will Be Our Year

AliasGrape · 11/05/2020 12:21

I walked in to an instrumental version of Can’t Help Falling In Love With You - it was one of my dad’s favourites and he used to sing it a lot when I was little. He is dead and so having it play was my way of having him with me.

During the signing we played Songbird by Eva Cassidy, In My Life by the Beatles and Peter Gabriel ‘The Book of Love’.

We walked out to the theme from the Magnificent Seven - that was DH’s choice.

First dance was David Gray’s ‘This Years Love’ and my niece also sang for us ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ as it was a December wedding.

They were all quite personal choices with meaning for us, but I’m sure most of the guests won’t remember or care what we had and probably didn’t even really pick up on it at the time! If you want 1000 years I’m sure it will be lovely and doubt the guests will immediately think ‘Twilight’ they’ll be too busy thinking how lovely you look and just enjoying the day.

grumpyorange · 11/05/2020 12:22

Thank you everyone. Such beautiful choices from everyone!

Never actually been to a wedding before so no idea what is acceptable 🙈

FlamingoG88 · 11/05/2020 12:23

Walked in to One day by Elbow 😊 but an edited version as it's a bloody long song!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 11/05/2020 12:24

Highland cathedral on the bagpipes, very traditional for up here!!

RedRedWines · 11/05/2020 12:27

We had a string quartet - entered to Canon in D, left to somewhere only we know
