Fucking barbecues...

The weather is gorgeous where we are, it’s been beautiful all week, perfect for line drying washing... except it’s not. Every last bastard on our road has decided to have a barbecue, pretty much Midday straight through to the evening there’s a bbq going somewhere. It’s driving me mad having to tumble dry our washing in this weather! I thought we were in luck earlier and put out my sheets... I’ve just had to go out to retrieve them as there’s at least two bbqs on the go now and my sheets now honk

Does anyone else think bbqs are antisocial or is it just me?

Just you. Don't be so miserable.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 09/05/2020 17:12

I've got my washing out and bbq on Grin

weepingwillow22 · 09/05/2020 17:12

I don't mind BBQs other than them making me feel hungry. It is all the bonfires near me that are really annoying.

CandleNoBra · 09/05/2020 17:12

YABU.

Washing dried on a line is nice but it’s just a household chore.

BBQ’s in the sun raise people’s mood in a bleak time.

Right now BBQ’s definitely trump washing.

Yes i had bBQ yesterday. I don,t think I was being more anti social then my neibours playing music. (particualrly the on playing xmas music.) Or swearing at top of voices. (not even my next door neighbour.). As far washing thing thing goes, perhaps try am.first.

PotteringAlong · 09/05/2020 17:12

Just you. My washing was on line line by 8.30 this morning. Problem solved.

RigaBalsam · 09/05/2020 17:13

My mam is the same came rushing in screaming to get the washing in as the neighbour had started a stinky barbecue. Grin

Sally872 · 09/05/2020 17:13

Love the smell of a bbq. Put washing out earlier.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/05/2020 17:13

Just tumble dry your sheets and have a gin to help you relax.

Soconfusedandlost · 09/05/2020 17:14

@NoWordForFluffy you put your washing out at night? What about spider willies

Coldilox · 09/05/2020 17:14

Put my washing out early this morning. Brought it in around 3, then lit my BBQ. Currently scoffing toasted marshmallows.

Love line drying and bbqs!

DOINGOURBIT · 09/05/2020 17:14

What happened to manners? People telling - or in today's climate - posting a note through someone's letterbox to warn them of a barbecue - so neighbours could get washing in

Totally agree with posters. My lounge is on second floor - with window open I can taste barbecue smoke and my T-shirt reeks of it. Yesterday's washing had to be rinsed through again.

I'm not against people having barbecues at all, but once upon a time people would tell their neighbours in advance. Now they're all either thoughtless or selfish

bloodyhellsbellsx · 09/05/2020 17:15

Congratulations on winning the most miserable moany post of week

KitKatKit · 09/05/2020 17:15

YABVU. BBQs don't make your washing smell, bonfires do.
Do your washing first thing and it will be dry by lunchtime.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 09/05/2020 17:15

I wonder how I would sleep in bbq smelling sheets😱
Would i have amazingly relaxing dreams full of chicken and klobasas or would I wake up absolutely ravenous and in foul mood because of it?🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 09/05/2020 17:16

I care not about spider willies, @Soconfusedandlost! The requirement for washing to be dried tops this!

zscaler · 09/05/2020 17:16

Just get your washing on the line first thing in the morning and it will be dry by lunchtime.

LadyLindaT · 09/05/2020 17:16

I agree with OP that it's antisocial.
Barbecues stink.
Nobody in this country seems to know how to do them properly.
All you can smell is burnt fuel and fat. It's so selfish.
Why can we never have one nice sunny day in this country without that awful smell permeating everything?

otterbaby · 09/05/2020 17:17

You'd hate us, we barbecue year round Confused

Menora · 09/05/2020 17:17

I don’t like BBQ. It’s so much hassle mess and really over rated. The smell is irritating as well. I can take or leave them to be honest

NoveltyFunsies · 09/05/2020 17:17

@Strawberrypancakes we barbecued our bacon for breakfast this morningGrin but our nearest neighbour is over 3/4 of a mile away so no complaints hereGrin

MaryBerrystolemyflour · 09/05/2020 17:19

Who puts their washing out to dry in this day and age? Ooh is it raining? Get it in. Quick its stopped get it out! Ooh bring it back in quick.

It’s not the 1950s anymore! Fuck that waste of time and energy. Shove it in the dryer enjoy a bbq and forget about it.

ScarletFever · 09/05/2020 17:19

nope - just you!!!

gyreandgimble · 09/05/2020 17:20

I loathe barbecues. I'm not a fan of bonfires either. They produce appalling amounts of CO2, they set off my asthma, the smell makes me feel sick and associated shouting is pretty horrible too.

Roussette · 09/05/2020 17:20

I put my washing out at 10 am, it was dry by 1pm. Unless your whole road is barbecuing at lunchtime today, it shouldn't be a problem.

If I put a note through neighbours' doors saying I was having a barbecue they would think I'd gone very odd!

BUT it depends how far away your NDNs are. Mine aren't close at all. I thought I smelt a faint whiff of bbq earlier and thought... great! Can't wait to have mine.

I'm afraid we can't start banning bbq's. It's my only pleasure at the moment apart from Wine and Gin.

Tonight is pork belly marinated in five spice and some sausages. Delicious
