To feel like the only woman left who doesn't shave her pubes? 😂

During a group WhatsApp with friends last night, conversation (somehow!) turned to pubes. It would seem I am the only one who doesn't shave the whole lot off. I've done it a couple of times in the past but it itched when growing back and I actually feel sexier with a bit of a muff! Does anyone else not shave these days or am I a vile ogre?

@ElectricTonight I literally didn’t say anywhere in my post that they didn’t.

Bertucci · 05/05/2020 17:09

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off. Mine thinks the same and makes him feel sick.

😂😂😂😂

TAKESNOSHITSHIRLEY · 05/05/2020 17:09

i dont shave anything(apart from my face thanks to severe PCOS)

i havent shaved a thing you are "supposed to"for well over 20 years

due to the PCOS my hair grown very fast,i was 18(39 now)and i paid 60 pound, which was a lot of money it the 90s for a full body wax as i was going abroad

with in 2 days it was back fully and i mean fully so since then i dont shave anything and anyway with 35 inch legs i dont think i could get to them

i also have jet black hair and im very pale and 6ft with J/K cups so im a noticeable person

i just dont care,i dont wear dresses, skirts shorts so you cant see my legs anyway but it doesnt stop me going swimming

not once have i been asked about it

my thinking is a mans not expected to why should a woman

QuestionableMouse · 05/05/2020 17:09

My partner is very decent and isn't put off in the slightest by hair anywhere.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 17:11

My dh will be so sad when I tell him he isn't a decent man because he isn't put off by my choice about my body.

Should I LTB because he lets me shave or not shave as I like?😱

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 05/05/2020 17:14

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off. Mine thinks the same and makes him feel sick.

I'll be having to tell my DH he's indecent then. He'll think it's his lucky day ...

LightenUpSummer · 05/05/2020 17:14

My partners have (almost) all been very decent, and they have never ever mentioned it or even looked - I want to say askance, but I'm not completely sure if that's the right word... yes I think it is - askance at it Grin

MarieQueenofScots · 05/05/2020 17:16

My dh will be so sad when I tell him he isn't a decent man

I've just told the guy I sleep with and the reason why. His response "meh, but at least I listened in biology when I was a kid"

PositiveVibez · 05/05/2020 17:18

Had it waxed once as an experiment, but I genuinely think it looks a bit 'last chicken on the shelf'

Didn't feel right for me. I love my soft, fluffy bush. I just keep it trimmed.

LakieLady · 05/05/2020 17:18

I used to do the edges so I didn't look like I was sprouting a forest when wearing a swimming costume.

Old age has reduced my glorious bush to a few sprigs in the middle, so I Lumea the edges just so it doesn't look silly.

The Lumea is brilliant, my armpits are now totally hair-free and I have hardly any on my legs, which used to need daily shaving and, if left for a few weeks, looked l'd borrowed them from Chewbacca.

I'd feel a bit weird lasering my foof though.

I'm not a fan of waxing, I found it incredibly painful and the only time I had my bikini line done, I had little drops of blood where each hair came out. The woman who did it recommended I didn't have it done again, which suited me fine. That was approx 1980 though, waxing technology may have improved since then.

MrsFogi · 05/05/2020 17:20

I occasionally trim (particularly in summer for swim suits etc) however I don't like having nothing -feels pre-pubescent!

IntermittentParps · 05/05/2020 17:21

I get round that by wearing a triathlon-style suit with short legs. It's laughable really, the idea of me doing a triathlon. I only ever wear swimming cozzies on holiday and all I do is float about on my back Grin

LakieLady · 05/05/2020 17:22

DH, when we were still just going out, once shaved his balls "for me"

Ewww! When my mate was having his vasectomy, he didn't fancy shaving his balls, so he Immac'd them.

Burns like fuck, apparently, so the post-vasectomy pain was nothing by comparison. Grin

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/05/2020 17:27

Aww blimey, Immac on that thin skin, I bet it burnt! Owwww!

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 17:28

Don't eww a guy shaving balls thinking it's preferred 😂 Admire that bloody dedication!

Gwenhwyfar · 05/05/2020 17:29

I know that most younger women do, but I hope I'm not the only one over 40 who doesn't.

Rosebel · 05/05/2020 17:30

We both shave our pubic hair sometimes. Usually can't be bothered in the winter so just leave it until the summer. The reference to prepubescent girls is just ridiculous and makes no sense.

minipie · 05/05/2020 17:36

What bothers me is that it’s become so much more common to remove the lot than it used to be, say 20 or 30 years ago.

That says it can’t all be personal preference or comfort as surely those wouldn’t have changed. There must be some element of fashion or other outside influence (eg porn). Subconscious I’m sure but still an outside influence.

I bet none of us would dream of doing a thing to our foof if we’d grown up without outside influences.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/05/2020 17:38

"Don't eww a guy shaving balls thinking it's preferred 😂 Admire that bloody dedication!"

Nothing to admire. He didn't ask, he didn't think - it was coming from a point of having seen it in porn (which he watched a lot while single) and from hoping to get me to do the same, also because of porn.
Absolutely not admirable at all.

Shalom23 · 05/05/2020 17:39

It's a generational thing. I never have but younger colleagues do. It definitely wasn't done in the 80s and 90s. Or wasnt commonplace. So the reason it became fashionable has to have cultural reasons.

And I do see the availability of internet porn as a factor. Like when Ruskin fainted when he first saw a proper Bush ( as opposed to paintings of smooth vulvas), I am sure theres a whole generation of men who've never seen full pubic hair on women.

Oblomov20 · 05/05/2020 17:40

Why are you even bothered op?
I just give it a trim at the sides with Dh's clippers. Painless, no regrowth issues. Just keeps it neat, without actually shaving.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 17:42

@ThumbWitchesAbroad well that completely changes the tone of your first post about it...

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 17:45

I don't know. I shaved before we had access to internet porn. The skrggggsrtrrrkkkkkiiiiieeeeeeeeeeesktlrfgt internet connecting didn't allow for much bar sending an email😂

Likethebattle · 05/05/2020 17:45

I am an adult with adult genitals which includes pubic hair.

Lexilooo · 05/05/2020 17:45

Nope, but I know the feeling.

My skin just can't take too much shaving or waxing, even with hot wax it gets sore so easily. So I have now embraced a full 70s style bush. I epilate the bikini line and have a trim if I am going swimming but otherwise it is as nature intended.

I used to have it waxed regularly, normally to a small triangle, but a landing strip before holidays. First time I had a landing strip after meeting (now) DH when I took my knickers off he pissed himself and said it looked like Hitler's moustache so I never did it again!

It is just a fashion, what goes around comes around.
