To feel like the only woman left who doesn't shave her pubes? 😂

During a group WhatsApp with friends last night, conversation (somehow!) turned to pubes. It would seem I am the only one who doesn't shave the whole lot off. I've done it a couple of times in the past but it itched when growing back and I actually feel sexier with a bit of a muff! Does anyone else not shave these days or am I a vile ogre?

What on earth are you talking about? And also, how do you which generation I belong to?

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off. Mine thinks the same and makes him feel sick

It's only a fact if the "decent man" is a bit thick.

okiedokieme · 05/05/2020 16:52

Nope, i have waxed in the past but really hate shaving

sammylady37 · 05/05/2020 16:54
  • I never have - why would a woman want to have the genitalia of a pre-pubescent girl? And I'd be very suspicious of any partner who wanted me to (for the same reason) Anyway, it mostly disappears when you get beyond the menopause (in my experience, anyway*

There isn’t a facepalm image big enough for this post. You start off saying hairless genitalia are those of a pre-pubescent girl and go on to say that they’re mostly hairless in post-menopausal women. Sigh.

Oh and btw, if the only difference between your genitalia and those of pre-pubescent girls is pubic hair, you really should see a doctor. But perhaps first read some basic biology texts and see if you still think the same afterwards.

peperethecat · 05/05/2020 16:54

why anyone would want to have sex with someone who shaved or waxed their pubic area

Maybe because they like the way it looks or feels? Or because they want to have sex with that person and they don't really care what that person chooses to do with their pubic hair?

Oh so this is why your generation won't support VE Day or anything, too busy discussing your hairy bits! Heaven help me.

What the chuff has this got to do with VE Day? What exactly are you doing to "support" VE Day (I think you mean commemorate it) during lockdown? And how do you imagine it is any different to how people from other generations (or people who choose to do different things with their pubic hair) will commemorate it?

Some really odd comments here.

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off. Mine thinks the same and makes him feel sick

It’s not a fact, actually. It’s incorrect

peperethecat · 05/05/2020 16:55

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off. Mine thinks the same and makes him feel sick.

And there I was, thinking that what makes a man "decent" was his behaviour, not his preferences regarding pubic hair.

Jesus wept.

SharonasCorona · 05/05/2020 16:56

I use hair remover and have never had itching when it grows back, but I think I would if I shaved.

I feel very unhygienic with it, especially when I have my period as I use pads.

peperethecat · 05/05/2020 16:57

OP, if nothing else, this thread should reassure you that different women choose to do different things with their pubic hair. There is no right or wrong answer. It is entirely down to personal preference. And nobody other than your partner, or maybe your doctor or kids is ever likely to see it. So do whatever the fuck you like and don't worry about it.

Chiyo666 · 05/05/2020 16:57

I’m bisexual and I wouldn’t go down on a hairy muff. I wouldn’t expect my husband too if he didn’t want too!

SaharaDesertBoots · 05/05/2020 16:58

Why are men's shaved faces never compared to prepubescent boys?

MrsKoala · 05/05/2020 16:58

Mirror. Or use OH. Whatever floats your boat.
Men's shavers ime. Fuck female's ones, the ones for men are way superior because they are made for face.

Even with a mirror or if I had a direct view it’s still far too soft a surface for me to shave. I used to use clippers and stopped because skin was getting caught [wince] . I do use men’s razors for my legs, underarms and anus etc but I couldn’t on the labia.

As for Lumea I just use it everywhere on full, although I don’t think I have hair on the inner pink parts. Occasionally it gets a bit hot but other than that I’ve had no painful effects.

SaharaDesertBoots · 05/05/2020 17:00

I'm not shaving mine at the moment as not sure if Dyno-Rod are working.

Zovir · 05/05/2020 17:00

I normally hand out on the Sex board (as it were Grin). People seem much ruder and more judgemental here in AIBU.

Echobelly · 05/05/2020 17:01

I don't, always found it a bit 'ick' myself to be bald down there. Been known to occasionally tidy the edges very slightly if I'm going to be in a swimsuit, but otherwise no.

Zovir · 05/05/2020 17:02

Sorry, I meant hang out, not hand out Grin.

I shall retire, self-wounded and deeply embarrassed.

ElectricTonight · 05/05/2020 17:03

I just tidy the edges and erm scissor over comb it once in a while 😂

I don't like it long because it's straight I'm really jealous of those with curly hair Grin

wonderstuff · 05/05/2020 17:03

I don't shave at all unless I'm going away somewhere with a pool. I can't imagine how people shave the whole lot, sounds like torture.

fiveoutoffive · 05/05/2020 17:03

I trim and make it slightly smaller but wouldn't take the whole lot off. I would find it really unattractive and a turn off if a man had shaved his pubes off too.

TheSmallAssassin · 05/05/2020 17:03

Ha, @BubblyBarbara, I don't know about my generation, but my teenaged daughter educated me yesterday about how the British and French appeased Hitler when he wanted bits of Czechoslovakia so let's hope older generations are reflecting a bit on the self interested mistakes we made as well as our victory (while a big chunk of Europe wasn't free until the 90s)

ElectricTonight · 05/05/2020 17:04

@Chiyo666 That's your opinion, some blokes love a "hairy muff"

sammylady37 · 05/05/2020 17:04

@Zovir I was gonna ask what exactly you were handing out over there Grin

Scruffyoak · 05/05/2020 17:04

I just can't be bothered any more

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 17:05

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off. Mine thinks the same and makes him feel sick.

I would be really concern if certain nether region hairstyles made someone sick. Has he sought some help with that?

PhoneLock · 05/05/2020 17:06

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off.

I'd be interested in seeing the full details of your survey. Even more interested to know the sample size and how you managed to ensure the participants were exclusively 'decent' men.
