To feel like the only woman left who doesn't shave her pubes? 😂

During a group WhatsApp with friends last night, conversation (somehow!) turned to pubes. It would seem I am the only one who doesn't shave the whole lot off. I've done it a couple of times in the past but it itched when growing back and I actually feel sexier with a bit of a muff! Does anyone else not shave these days or am I a vile ogre?

I like having a full bush and if dp cared, he wouldn't be my dp.

I'm glad my husband is a bit more laid back. I prefer him not having a beard, and I've told him so.

If you don't liberally spray Je Reviens over your freshly-washed bush just before your lover arrives you're doing it all wrong.

I don't do anything to my pubes.
I only ever had one bikini wax (just the edges) and it hurt. So I'd rather not thanks.

My pubes are naturally tidy though - no thigh wandering going on.

To those professing shock about the conversation topic and asking if it's normal, it's just a straightforward question about personal grooming. I don't have particular body hang-ups and to me it's no more shocking than a conversation about underarm or eyebrow hair removal. If you're comfortable talking about it, talk. If not, don't. I'm equally surprised that some people find it so taboo.

Ha! You read Jilly Cooper, don't you!

Nice Jilly Cooper ref there?

Ironically, "je reviens" is exactly what pubes do when you shave or wax them off. Grin

Ive always wondered If you shave it do you really run a razor over the whole area? How do you see what you are doing? Isn’t the surface too squishy to shave smoothly over? Don’t you nick bits? I’m crossing my legs thinking about it.
Mirror. Or use OH. Whatever floats your boat.
Men's shavers ime. Fuck female's ones, the ones for men are way superior because they are made for face.

I'm suddenly reminded of this song.

Can I ask about the lumea?
I like to have a small triangle at the front but remove as much of the labia/perineal hair as possible. Makes it feel cleaner and more wipeable!

However I wax it myself and its just too painful and difficult to wax off the hair inside or close to the inside of the labia majora. I have read up about the lumea and it said it wasn't suitable for the (pink) inner part. Is this true or do you lumea ladies also do that area successfully? (I had a course of laser treatment and intended to include that area but it got left in the end because I had no idea how to shave it without injuring myself - it has to be shaved before the treatment.) Do you have to shave the required areas before using the lumea too ?

Lovemusic33 · 05/05/2020 16:24

I only trim, I can stand a full shave due to the itch when it grows back and I usually end up getting thrush. I am single but wouldn’t shave for any man 🤣, not sure what the fascination is with the bald look.

tentative3 · 05/05/2020 16:31

@honeylulu I'm a bit slapdash with my lumea and am currently going through the course, if you like. I don't find it especially easy to see what I'm doing once but I have definitely done some pink bits. The angles are quite difficult in the perineal area I find but I've not had any issues with anywhere I've fired the lumea (although I have it at max strength and it sometimes does 'ping' a bit, and if the glass gets hot and you press too close it burns!).

As for shaving that area, it's just a matter of pulling everything around a bit and doing some weird things with your legs I find. It's not the easiest though, I agree.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 05/05/2020 16:32

Well, I just tidy mine up. I don't shave/wax because, by nature, we are obviously meant to have pubic hair and it also serves a purpose just like nasal hair:

MarieQueenofScots · 05/05/2020 16:34

or why anyone would want to have sex with someone who shaved or waxed their pubic area

Well because hair or lack thereof doesn’t tend to affect one’s sexual prowess.

tentative3 · 05/05/2020 16:34

Ignore the rogue 'once' in there.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 05/05/2020 16:39

"Gross. I also hate when people on here compare having no pubes to a pubescent child, there’s just no need."
It's a statement of fact though.

Davespecifico · 05/05/2020 16:39

I don’t. Just keep it tidy enough so that it doesn’t poke through a swimming costume.

MarieQueenofScots · 05/05/2020 16:40

It's a statement of fact though

Except it isn’t. Pubic hair (quite obviously one would have thought) isn’t the only marker that one is an adult woman.

TellySavalashairbrush · 05/05/2020 16:40

I follow Kathy Burke’s philosophy ‘what’s wrong with a fat hairy fanny!’.

Oh so this is why your generation won't support VE Day or anything, too busy discussing your hairy bits! Heaven help me.

Does your generation not have the capacity to consider more than one topic at a time? I’m terribly sorry, must be awkward.

Thesuzle · 05/05/2020 16:47

Completely bare ! Yuck. Makes me think of the parsons nose on a turkey

Devlesko · 05/05/2020 16:48

I don't out of choice, but tbh shaved pussy does nothing for my dh anyway.
I keep it well trimmed, though.

"Gross. I also hate when people on here compare having no pubes to a pubescent child, there’s just no need."

It's a fact though, and puts decent men off. Mine thinks the same and makes him feel sick.
