To feel like the only woman left who doesn't shave her pubes? 😂

During a group WhatsApp with friends last night, conversation (somehow!) turned to pubes. It would seem I am the only one who doesn't shave the whole lot off. I've done it a couple of times in the past but it itched when growing back and I actually feel sexier with a bit of a muff! Does anyone else not shave these days or am I a vile ogre?

But @ AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter we are not talking out keeping them long???
Are We not talking about removing them totally.

I have not been bare down there since I was prepubescent.

Mintjulia · 05/05/2020 19:38

You definitely aren’t the only one.

I keep mine well trimmed & tidy but shaving is bad for you, increases the chance of minor infections.

peperethecat · 05/05/2020 19:40

Wouldn't it be nice if teenage girls felt able to let their pubic hair grow wild and free without being judged for not conforming to the porn star look expected by boys, and adult women felt free to shave or wax all their pubic hair off if they want to without being judged by other women for looking like a plucked chicken or a prepubescent girl and implying that their partners must be closet paedophiles if they like that sort of thing?

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone just did whatever the fuck they wanted with their pubes and didn't worry about being judged or criticised by anyone else?

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 05/05/2020 19:40

@peperethecat

YES! It would be lovely.

Leflic · 05/05/2020 19:40

Women in porn also have shaved legs and arm pits.
Yet that is never mentioned. Why is that "acceptable" and not shaved pubes? Could it be that shaved pits and legs are now considered "the norm"?

And yes, calling another woman's choice of pubic hair gross IS vile

Because at sone point it isn’t actually a choice. Honestly how comfortable are you with full armpit hair on show in public? I can’t remember the last time I saw a woman who had hairy pits.I’d imagine a few on here would think “vile” actually.
So where’s the choice for us. Normal has become the exact opposite of what’s actually normal.

Somersetlady · 05/05/2020 19:42

@OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow i can remember periods starting, first pubes, boobs growing - normal rights of passage / memorable events for most teenagers surely?

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 05/05/2020 19:42

It's down to my knees hun

Peapod29 · 05/05/2020 19:43

You are very much allowed to have natural pubic hair.

You are ‘allowed’ but do most people think it’s acceptable? Remember the fuss about Julia Roberts arm pit hair? Even non shavers have stated that they wear swimwear with legs to cover hair. I was hooked on watching that naked attraction thing a while back, they mentioned Pubes quite a few times, it was glaringly obvious that despite trying to show all different body ‘types’ and even ages every single woman on that show was very or completely shaved.

fiveoutoffive · 05/05/2020 19:43

Is this a generational thing? No one I knew shaved the whole lot off when I was young, it was the sides waxed off, to a greater or lesser extent. I know because when I went to a beauty salon to get it done it was the sort of thing they chatted about. Is it that anyone over 40 is less likely to be doing it and finding it a bit off putting?

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 19:44

@Somersetlady that's some good memory. I genuinely don't.🤷🏻

PhoneLock · 05/05/2020 19:45

No one I knew shaved the whole lot off when I was young

How would you even know?

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 05/05/2020 19:46

Big bushes are hot and virile.

I think you might have meant muliebrile.

I leave mine to grow, you are not alone.

littlemeitslyn · 05/05/2020 19:47

'Cutting labia' 🙀🙀🙀

LightenUpSummer · 05/05/2020 19:47

Let's not gaslight each other here. We all know it was very rare up to the 90s ish or whenever.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 19:48

You are ‘allowed’ but do most people think it’s acceptable?

Anyone with IQ over room temperature think it's acceptable to have pubic hair👀
Naked attraction. I mean like you are talking about a show where people choose their date by seeing genitals first... You can't take that seriously and as an indicator of wider society.

fiveoutoffive · 05/05/2020 19:48

@phonelock But I explained it in the same post! This is going from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Whenwillthisbeover · 05/05/2020 19:50

Trim for me, who wants a rashy fanny?

Alsohuman · 05/05/2020 19:50

We all know it was very rare up to the 90s ish or whenever.

It was so rare in the 70s that we were all outraged when we were shaved by a midwife immediately before giving birth. Without even being asked, I might add.

LightenUpSummer · 05/05/2020 19:51

Some people are really dead against the possibility that there's any social pressure going on here.

Not neutral, but dead against. It's weird.

fiveoutoffive · 05/05/2020 19:51

Can I just ask a young 'un here - say 20s or 30s - would you say most of your age group shave the whole thing?

LightenUpSummer · 05/05/2020 19:52

Alsohuman bloody hell, they should've at least asked you! That happened to my dm, and she had to have an enema too.

Chiyo666 · 05/05/2020 19:53

@fiveoutoffive yes. 26.

Somersetlady · 05/05/2020 19:53

@PhoneLock i would be able to tell you if anyone i went to secondary school with was shaved because we all showers naked in the same open plan showers!

Peapod29 · 05/05/2020 19:54

Omg I think you are wishful thinking. I think we all know that it’s considered quite abnormal to have pubes on show nowadays. Every recent survey I’ve seen conducted on this shows that a massive majority of women remove hair, and the % is greater the younger the age. If it were purely personal choice it would be less, considering its expensive and painful.

bakingdemon · 05/05/2020 19:54

Neatly trimmed here. Feels and looks weird without hair.
