To feel like the only woman left who doesn't shave her pubes? 😂

During a group WhatsApp with friends last night, conversation (somehow!) turned to pubes. It would seem I am the only one who doesn't shave the whole lot off. I've done it a couple of times in the past but it itched when growing back and I actually feel sexier with a bit of a muff! Does anyone else not shave these days or am I a vile ogre?

@CakeItOrLeave I hate to break it to you, but a shaved 42 year old snatch looks a bit...flappy flaps. Hence I suspect that the age bias might not just be fashion based Grin

Fromthebirdsnest · 05/05/2020 19:08

I also cant wait to tell my husband he's indecent 😂😂 x bloody hell what's wrong with people ? X

Right? lol Is she going to tell chemo patients and those with alopecia that they are never having sex ever again? 😂 because any man that is attracted to them MUST be a paedo!

Peapod29 · 05/05/2020 19:16

Alexis I feel you are being a bit wilfully dumb here. No one could possibly think an adult fully shaved woman looks like a 5 year old. People are musing about the trend possibly being related to the norms of porn which is much more common place and easily available now. The rise of porn use seems to have coincided with an expectation (admittedly among younger people probably) that women will be shaved in some way. It’s long been known that most mainstream porn does focus on younger and younger women. Personally I’m not sure about the connection being specific to that, it might just be that things are easier to see on camera with a shaved muff. I haven’t written a thesis on it (sure someone has) and I wouldn’t know enough about it to confidently comment either way but to say the assumption is ‘vile’ and disgusting seems to be a way of shutting down a conversation that probably should be had.

Somersetlady · 05/05/2020 19:18

@AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter Everybody’s brain is different.

Every woman has her own sexual boundaries.

Every woman is entitled to choose whatever turns her on or off.

No one is talking about what other people like or do with or without their partners.

For me it is a big turn off that a man would be turned on with someone who’s vag looks like mine did when i was 12!

If your fella is into the bare look and you like to whip it all off good on you but it doesn’t work for me and many others who haven't been bald since they were tweens!

Clevererthanyou · 05/05/2020 19:18

Is it even physically possible to prevent awful horrible sore itching when it grows back?

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 05/05/2020 19:19

Women in porn also have shaved legs and arm pits.
Yet that is never mentioned. Why is that "acceptable" and not shaved pubes? Could it be that shaved pits and legs are now considered "the norm"?

And yes, calling another woman's choice of pubic hair gross IS vile.

custodiandiscount · 05/05/2020 19:21

life's too short, unlike my muff

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 05/05/2020 19:21

My 42 year old post vaginal-birth flaps look better slightly covered than bald.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 05/05/2020 19:21

but it doesn’t work for me and many others who haven't been bald since they were tweens

If it doesnt work for you then thats totally fine! Everyone must choose what theyre comfortable with.
But you literally just said anyone who shaves must have a partner who is a paedo- do you not see how problematic that is? and how offensive it is to women who have no hair not through choice?

MarieQueenofScots · 05/05/2020 19:23

For me it is a big turn off that a man would be turned on with someone who’s vag looks like mine did when i was 12

This doesn’t make any sense though. There is more difference to my genitals than hair (and nobody is seeing my vag anyway.....do you mean labia/vulva?)

sammylady37 · 05/05/2020 19:23

Christ. Do we need public service announcements to teach people the difference between the genitalia of a pre-pubescent girl and a grown woman who has chosen to remove her pubic hair?? So many people apparently think they’re the same.

MarieQueenofScots · 05/05/2020 19:24

and how offensive it is to women who have no hair not through choice?

I would imagine we’re supposed to take our “last chicken in the shop”, “turkey giblet” genitalia and not have sex at all lest we confuse a poor chap who cannot tell the difference between an adult woman and a child

LightenUpSummer · 05/05/2020 19:24

Just to be wankily theoretical for a moment, isn't it fascinating this whole thing about cultural pressures about how women's bodies should look? It's been a massive deal throughout history as far as I can tell. Something about fear of the power of women's unbridled sexuality? Who knows.

But I developed a theory all of my own: the measure of the civilisation of a society (my personal definition of 'civilised', ie progressive and respectful etc) is how close to their natural state adult women's bodies are "allowed" to look.

I do think we're moving further away from that type of liberation, rather than getting closer to it.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 19:25

Stop calling it public hair😂 I keeps giggling every time i read it and get distracted and forget what I wanted to say!

Somersetlady · 05/05/2020 19:28

I don’t see why anyone would be offended that I am put off by it. That’s me. I was groomed by an older man in my teens.

History has shaped my ideas on life.

I also have never had and do not ever want to try anal the idea also repulses me but honestly i couldn’t give a fig if you take it up the bum!

MarieQueenofScots · 05/05/2020 19:29

Nobody is Confused

Don’t you see it’s offensive to cast aspersions on all men who have sex with women without hair?

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 19:30

I don't. You are very much allowed to have natural pubic hair. If you realise the nastiest comments here are against shavers. So if anything, by MN standards (lol "standards"), we are on an opposite spectrum and should be discussing women being allowed what's not considered natural without their partners being likened to pedos....

Sertchgi123 · 05/05/2020 19:31

Adult women are supposed to have hair.

Alsohuman · 05/05/2020 19:32

Interesting point @LightenUpSummer. I remember in the 70s refusing to remove body hair was a feminist gesture and that was at a time when very few women depilated their pubic hair anyway. Hairy armpits and legs were a badge of pride.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 05/05/2020 19:33

I don’t see why anyone would be offended that I am put off by it

You can do what you want, its totally up to you.

But personally, I would find it deeply disturbing if I had to keep my pubes long so my partner could distinguish me from a child and couldn't tell the difference. Thats very disturbing to me- to have a partner who couldn't tell the difference between an adult woman and a child.

Somersetlady · 05/05/2020 19:35

mariequeenofscots i obviously worded it Slightly wrongly. For me i would be turned of by someone who was turned on by MY vag looking like it dis when I was 12.

Somersetlady · 05/05/2020 19:35

As i already pointed out everybody has and is entitled to their own ideas and boundaries.

fiveoutoffive · 05/05/2020 19:37

@sammylady37And presumably (hopefully) you could identify them as such. If you couldn’t, perhaps you need some further education further education in what exactly? If I shaved down there now it would look exactly as it did when I was 11. That part of the body, from the front, hasn't changed. What do you think has changed about that part of the body, from the front????!!!

And can I just say, I did clarify that what was odd was the fact that they were all shaved whereas you would expect to see some personal choice going on.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 05/05/2020 19:37

How the fuck do you even remember what it looked like when you were 12😂

Oh my good this is just ridiculous!

STOP LIKING SHAVED NETHER REGIONS OF ADULT WOMAN TO ONES ON A CHILD, YOU PERVS!
